Country-Blues guitar picken's most influential performer., Has gone., 💔🎸🙏., Charlie's gotten his 3rd chance to battle the Devil., Today., Essentially moments after having his last 'Independance Day'., The world shall hear 👂 your music, & always cherish it., Eternally., RiP 'Charlie Daniels' 🕯️🕯️
I'm the 106th like because those are the number of years Pope Gregory added to history when he changed time. I am Hidden in The Lord, and He loves Charlie Daniels and his band.
You know, when you listened to songs such as this one, the Devil went down to Georgia, Still in Saigon, and others, the morals that are in the songs are truly a blessing and a warning about punishment for doing wrong, as evidenced by the words of this song.
This man got me involved with country music, horror, and religion. All but one I still follow. Thank god for Charlie. If there is a heaven, he'd be up there playing the devil's fiddle.
This song used to scare the shit out of me when I was a kid in like 79, 80 era. Thank you Mr Daniels, for the image of the story that I created in my mind because of this song. Thank you for everything
It scared th' fire outta me, too, the first time I heard it! It made ya feel like death was comin' straight at'cha, especially when you heard the line about them mean boys gettin' caught in the quicksand, and then that line about Ol' Alucius Clay laughin' in a voice that sounded like Thunder! This song definitely ain't for none of them sissified soyboys out there....and that's for sure!!!!!
RIP Charlie Daniels of The Charlie Daniels Band. You know-🎻 🎶 The Devil Went Down To Georgia 🎻 🎶 guy. Now, I am not a huge country and western fan. Growing up in Montana disabused me of much of that. However, my first single 7" record in the late 70s or early 80s? The Legend of Wooley Swamp by The Charlie Daniels Band.
I love it, too! I especially love the lyrics in this song. Those lyrics make me feel like I'm right there, watching the whole story unfold, right before my very eyes. I can only imagine how Alucius Clay must've felt, as he was dying at the hands of these evil men...and I can only imagine, again, as those boys feel Death tugging at their heels...and then at their entire bodies, as the quicksand that they accidentally ran into in the dark, sucked them down! I know that it's just a song, but man, it's still very powerful to listen to, and, as you're listening to it, you can almost feel the terror that those boys felt, as they knew that their next stop, after being sucked under by the quicksand, was Hell itself! Charlie Daniels was a Christian, and he incorporated a lot of Bible lessons like this, into his music. May he Rest In Peace and Power! ✝️✝️✝️
As a 9 year old kid Full Moon Fever and LedZeppelin 2 were the first two albums I ever bought and both got equal and constant rotational play on my old record player. The vivid imagery of this song along with living in Louisiana in bayou country all my life permanently made an indelible impression on my musical growth and love for great music . Charlie Daniels was a true OG that bridged the gap between real country and rock as well as not being afraid to speak his mind in being not PC and speaking truth regardless of what people think . God bless you Charlie , RIP and you will always have a permanent place in my heart for great music and my sonic rotation of music 👍🏻🙏🤘🏻
Oh I agree with you. I sincerely hated his passing. Then I got really pissed off when I heard him on my local country music station. Why was I upset??? Hadn't heard him on radio in 20 yrs, then as soon as a legend passed, those panty wastes started playing his music again. WHY DID HE HAVE TO PASS ON JUST TO GET PLAYED ON THE RADIO.
I love everything about this song, but one of my favorite lines is “there’s things out there in the middle of them woods make a strong man die of fright”. That adds a whole nother level of scary to it, picturing a tough, good old boy scared out of his mind by the sounds and creepy things around him. I’ve actually had the same thing happen to me (I guess I consider myself a strong man), hiking McClintic Wildlife Area swamp at dawn, look it up. Very creepy place.
I was fortunate to see the Charlie Daniels Band at Freedom Hall Johnson City, Tennessee in 1980 when they were out on tour with the Full Moon album. Charlie brought his horn section and it was one of the best concerts I have ever attended. I had this album on 8-track and played it until it finally broke around 1984......
Wish I'd have known he was there. I woulda been there. I just lived a hop skip and a jump from JC Tn. This is just dam great music. CDB never made a bad song.
Was fortunate enough to get ftont row center seats to last year. Charlie and Alabama randy Owens handed me the microphone let me sing cant keep a good man down , and Charlie took a picture of my wife and i and put it up on twitter , he was great man , we use to go to his keyboard players house for cookouts. In Connecticut ,dated his. Niece in the late 80's. Taz was a hell of a guy. He and Charlie wrote devel went down to George together. That tore Charlie up when taz got killed in car accident on way to concert. Rip taz and Charlie
I’ve listened to this song for nearly forty years, and I still get chill bumps on my arms when Charlie sings “....and you can hear one old man laugh!” God bless you Charlie, you are sorely missed and may you Rest In Peace until God calls his children Home. ✝️
Music-With a very stern and strong message to it. Them there boys murdered Alucius Clay, but got themselves punished in a way that they never expected! Runnin' into a big ol' patch of quicksand...in the dark...can you imagine the sheer terror those boys felt? Even though this is "just a song" to some folks, it's a very dark, and very fearful warning, to those who even think of doing some dastardly deed to somebody else. No matter who it is, you'd better reconsider what you're about to do. The consequences could be deadly...and permanent!
I'm just totally stunned that Charlie Daniel's has passed away,I say, your one of the great ones I love you and your music, Charlie, and God bless and rest your soul, brother!
i am 100 % rock/roll, but i felt like i got punch in the face when i heard Charlie passed away. he was probably the most american person i know. he is up in heaven with a fiddle of gold. rest peacefully
You mentioned about Charlie Daniels, being up in Heaven now, with a Golden Fiddle. If that's true, and man, I sure hope it is, then maybe he's at the feet of Jesus, playing that old familiar hymn-Amazing Grace!
When you listen to this, if you do, keep in mind this is a country music band playing here. Before there was rap there is clearly rap in this song, along with other things. The Charlie Daniels Band
Charlie Daniels was a great man on and off the stage. Someone the like of whom we are in short supply these days. May God bless us with more people like him, Amen.
His style was different from the other artists. His songs were more stories than any other. This, Uneasy Rider, and Devil Went Down to Georgia are 3 examples.
I was just a little girl when I first heard this song coming out of the clock radio in my mother's bedroom one night. Oh, it was so creepy! Charlie was telling a three-year-old a scarey story that night and it was so freaky! I could just see those boys in the swamp getting sucked down into the quick sand!. Because for some reason quick sand was a massive danger in the late 70's.
