The video today for Waylon Wednesday is from the TV show Nashville Now starring Ralph Emery with special guests Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr. and Merle Kilgore from Nov. 1988. Hank Jr. sings Mind Your Own business followed up by Waylon and Hank Jr. singing The Conversation.
Nashville Now was an American talk show that focused on country music performers in the style of The Tonight Show. The show aired live on weeknights on TNN from 1983-1993. The host was Nashville TV/radio personality Ralph Emery. The show was nominated for an ACE Award in 1987 for Music Series. A frequent guest and substitute host was Shotgun Red, a puppet performed by Steve Hall. It originated from TNN's studio ("Gaslight Theater") at Opryland USA in Nashville, which, from 1998 to 2010, was the only remaining standing structure from the Opryland Theme park. It was demolished after suffering heavy damage in the 2010 Tennessee floods.
Reruns of Nashville Now were added to the relaunched Nashville Network on November 1, 2012.

Get over it. You're saying this now, your parents said it about them. And heck, things would get pretty boring if music stagnated like you desire. And for neo-neo-neo traditional country you have tons of modern artists.....Justin Moore, Cody Jinks, Midland, Whitey Morgan, Justin Wells, Ward Davis, Josh Hedley. Plus tons of awesome southern/country rock, new alt-country, etc. The stuff on modern radio just adds a new dimension. Like, country fusion. People like you just hate moving forward. You'd rather just cling to what you believe to be your best days, wallow in nostalgia, then whine about how much everything sucks. B-O-O-H-O-O.

Country music is more diverse now than ever before....all sounds the same. You got that backwards.....the last ten Alan Jackson records all sound the same. Hank Jr, Waylon, Strait, Jones, Old Man Owens.....multi-decade careers of music that could have been on any album, all sounds the same. I guess mediocore, simple minded people really do need everything to stay nice and neat without the slightest change. Good reasons why so many people are literally being left behind in the dust in all aspects of life......the majority never has and never will stop and cater to you. Bro country....haha....what are you a fucking renassance man? A mover and shaker? Must be one of those folks with a super intellect.

My dad was from Tennessee and move to Detroit in mid 1950's. As much as he love Detroit he never stop loving his country music. As kid myself in 1970's i remember thsese song and country singers that my dad cherish. My one sister was name after Tammy Wynette. In the summer we would drive down south to Tennessee to visit family for a week listening Hank William JR and Waylon, Johnny Cash, George Jones and throw some motown in mixs lol. Back in those days my dad car of choice was alway Lincoln or Cadillac.😅

I had the rare privilege to get to party with Hank Jr. one night at a bar in Newport, Ky., named "THE FUZZ CLUB". It was a Sunday night, and I was sitting there at the bar listening to the band, and in walked Hank Jr., there by himself to visit with the musicians in the club. We sat side by side at the bar, and he bought my drinks and we danced all night long. He was a perfect gentleman, and very down to earth. He didn't act like he thought he was anything special. He was delightful, and I will never forget the night I got to party with Hank Jr! Not too many people get to say that!

Thank God that exists and was caught on film for generations to enjoy decades from now... Bocephus is definitely one of the greatest of all time, he doesn't have the influence and inspiration quite factor like his father but is still one of the most amazing country music artists ever to exist

They can take right off in a song cause of the raw talent that both have,its like each other knows what the other one is about to do before he does it, great harmony together two very very talented and gifted artists,they don't come like that anymore

Man oh man! The memories and nostalgia bring back feelings of a time sadly lost. This is when music truly was MUSIC!! Simple laid back times when everyone was welcome and for the most part respectful of family, friends and this wonderful country. These folks were truly artists that embodied the times and allowed us to embrace them through their music! Times change, as they should and will, but these times are changing at a pace beyond belief. For those of us that are a little slower in adapting to these changes, it's a wonderful refuge to open a beer, invite an old friend, listen to the music that brought us to where we are and remember the good ole days!

Can't believe this was 33 years ago. I was the ripe old age of 16. Time's a fiyin' by folks and taking legends like Waylon with it. Enjoy every day as best you can I guess.

I am a recent country convert. Johnny Cash led me to the Highwaymen, which led me to Waylon. By the time I got through the first album I bought "The Essential Waylon Jennings" I was a FAN. I am right grateful for all the music he left behind, and sorry I never got to see him perform live.

He is even better with a banjo...it’s actually his instrument of choice. He did an interview few years back and was talking about his love of the old Cajun music...accordions banjos etc

I'm a city boy in Michigan, but my grandpa was from the holler in Kentucky. Used to visit Tennessee at his cabin, ten miles from town in the midst of nowhere. Best times of my life, and yes, southern hospitality is a real thing 🤟 I'm also a metalhead, but love old country. I haven't heard a decent country song since the mid eighties. Hank J was always one of my favorites. He's real, he's been through some shit, and I can entirely relate.
