Bristol Bay, Alaska is the world's last, best salmon stronghold, home to the world's greatest wild salmon fishery. But for more than 20 years, the watershed and its vibrant human communities have been threatened by the specter of large-scale mining. Together with our partners, The Nature Conservancy is working to permanently protect this globally significant watershed and to lay the groundwork for the sustainable future its Indigenous and local communities envision.

I am astounded year after year at the abundance of the watersheds of Bristol bay. It is truly a magical place. I'm also astounded by folks like The Nature Conservancy that can get their facts SO wrong! Bristol bay is NOT home to the largest runs of salmon in the entire world, not even close!!! There are a dozen places across the Pacific with larger returns of salmon, PINK SALMON. What Bristol bay does have, is the largest run/return of WILD SOCKEYE salmon. For a team that claims they've been battling for Bristol bay for 20+ years, I'm surprised you folks were unaware of this truth....
