I have watched Dan since he was the gardener and how he renovated his own house. When he bought this place I knew he had a dream and thought this would take years but watching this tumble down building in it's sad state now coming back to life is amazing.

Dan you should receive an award for bringing this piece of historic France back to life.

I've been watching since he started too and I admit I was VERY SKEPTICAL.

My husband showed me Dan's first video and I scoffed as I watched and bet that he'd give up in a month. I'm so glad I was wrong. I've been watching since day one and I am amazed at how much he has accomplished!

Nope, we most certainly don’t. And this is just a grand house. Our history is much richer than this. I am grateful for the countless expert craftsmen who rebuild Notre Dame, a true piece of our history, not to a cook who uses our heritage as a backdrop to make money for himself.

@@LaReynedEpee Well, sadly this has an easy explanation. These old houses do not have much value unfortunately, even when in good shape, as they are insanely expensive to maintain. Most French people know this which is why they also know that from an economic point of view, this renovation doesn’t make sense. Don’t get me wrong, I find it very sad that this is the situation, but unfortunately this is the reality of these buildings.

@@shoutatthesky Dan has been using OSB3, which is slightly waterproof. Granted, this part of France gets a ton of rain, as seen in all the Vlogs, and evidenced by the gigantic trees. So, with those types of downpours, the OSB3 will lose its integrity, and he will have to replace some, if not most OSB3 boards, especially those put in first on the right chateau side ( exposed the longest to excess rain.) This issue was a common concern amongst many followers last year. I myself have constantly wondered why he did not place plywood on the 2nd floor/attic floor because the mansard roof structure rests on it. How to replace the OSB3 with stronger floor boards like plywood after he completed the roof structure is a mystery to me.

I wish they would help in the garden. Weeding etc...
