In today's video, we install the cheap lawn and garden U1 battery for the Honda ACTY Kei truck. I have spent a lot of money on this truck since importing. So suffice it to say, I was looking for the cheapest alternative battery on the market. So far, the U1 mower battery has been working great. It fits in the stock tray and only minor adjustments were needed to make the stock bracket work.

Hey it’s Brandon from Australia! I’ve been interested in Honda Acty’s for awhile,, but after watching your videos for the past week or so I finally committed to buying one. You made it seem so much more approachable to have an older car when you don’t have a lot of mechanical experience! (I mean you’re great!! But you know what I mean,,) Thanks heaps. ☺️

Hey Brandon! Congratulations! Hopefully your ACTY doesn’t require as much work as mine 🤣 and yes I do know what you mean haha! I just started learning about cars and how to work on them with this truck so hopefully that gives other beginners some confidence.

After doing the flip braket. Than the sleeve adaptors. But before reconnecting battery clean the cables on the starter end and main grounds on the engine to chassis. Thsn find other major grounds snd clean them slso. Dont forget to put a coating so the bear metal doesn't rust.

Please flip the battery bracket over, you see the two cutouts on the bracket are there to miss the terminal.

I would protect that positive battery cable with something. At the very least wrap it in electrical tape. Personally I would cover the whole thing with a large enough piece of heat shrink tubing and then shrink it on there…just have to replace it everytime you have to a unbolt the positive cable

love the vid Jules! I almost did the U1 battery mod on my 92 Acty. Fortunately I found a new OEM replacement through a Import parts dealer over here in Seattle. It was about 100 bucks.

Hello again, there's several/ multi - comparison ways to do this.. Understanding completely as you did , There are batteries that are called pencil post., There's sleeves.You can slide on the top of terminals to adapt multiple sizes, even with the terminals as they are, you can adapt to conform...

The bracket is touching Both terminals On the battery which may be causing an arc Disrupting the electrical flow. Like the Person. said, 3 comments down. Just flip the bracket over That should solve the problem.🙂

Since those terminals are weather exposed might want too spray them with oil wd-40 or di-electric grease to prevent them from oxidation

Don't put dielectric on the terminals. That is an insulator and will hinder the connection. You can put it on after tightening, but risk it getting between the connection of you take it off and back on.

@@davekaylor458 of course you don’t put it on before you connect the battery thats common sense at that point you may as well put grease on the brakes to stop them from squeaking

Omg I see this vid 1 week to late😂 just imported one and needed a new battery no one around my area had them, some forums say a 51r battery 215$would fit the box but like tou said the terminals are to small so I ordered some adapters JPN to SAE

I see dashboard at those lights are goin too dim when starting.ptopably groundcable is cracked or broken or corroted,take the cable bodyside of and clean check.battery is now good and new.but i see that there is problem on.and its going to get worse and worse,it also stressing altenator and its not good in new battery also.

Never start battery problem liying about CCA. Make sure you carry a jump box with you at all times

I have done 2 battery swaps. I used lithium both times. noco 30 is fantastic. I get the savings on the lawn battery, but it's only 300cca. I have 750cca and it starts super fast!! lastly, good job, but that bracket is dangerously close to the terminals... a short out is no fun, I'm thinking a heavy bump or? could cause battery to shift and short?.... if you put a jump pack on the battery, and it starts perfectly fine, your battery is not as good as it should be... just a quick test you could do...

I tried looking for the complete box for sale to replace the whole thing in one unit but it looks like all you can find is covers like I sent earlier and the bottom tray only you have to weld in

I use the U1X-7 on my Nissan 240sx it has 50 more cca for colder areas. Just keep in mind anything below 30 degrees it will struggle hahaha

I am mechanic.sounded like your startermotor is sluggish.or maybe groundcable other end is not good condition.fuelpump propably ok..chance sparkblugs and airfilter first.cheaper or try without airfilter to start.why chance pump if not nessesserily.goog upgrade but in my ear sounded like startermotor isnt giving enough rpms.
