You can see ghosting (as it’s more shutter speed on the camera than fps). If at one moment you see 7 images vs 5, then you know the one with the fewer duplicate images is better. You know how Windows by default has the pointer trail, it’s like that, and on a bad monitor you can disable pointer trailing and it still shows up since it’s just the monitor ghosting, it’s particularly aweful in racing games and fps where you’ll see phantom images of where something was that just moved fast, TVs have a HUGE issue with this, it’s brain hurting and a headache after a while and just looks bad! So actually, even a still camera shot can show it, so assuming your monitor didn’t have any ghosting (otherwise then yeah, unless you paused the video since it’s then your monitor ghosting and not the one filmed), then you can still see some differences (like color accuracy), since those are not FPS related. I lolled when I say “can you hear the difference between a $499 and _____ piano?”, because yeah, cheapo headphones won’t show a difference, and they didn’t even test in the same building! My goodness! If you played the million dollar piano in a basement it’s going to sound like crap when it’s not, it’s not like ceilings and room geometry for theaters are designed for good accustoms, oh wait, they are... that’s one of those cases where it really is a stupid comparison.
At least a 60fps video would be nice. But then their digital storage would fill up at twice the speed🤣. Still I understand they want high resolution video for digital zoom uses but I'd prefer a 1080p60 video to a 4k30 video just like in gaming. It just looks so much smoother and lifelike.
I've had the Samsung 144hz monitor for a month now. It's given me an edge in Battlefield and I cannot be happier. Well worth the cost of the monitor. Have a grand day!
but lets forget that the actual apple monitors were fucking awesome for the price for any content creator/illustrator etc. lets bark about the stand like an insecure fanboy
@@DzeDavis but they aren't. They're not that good. They're horridly overpriced. The only insecure fanboy here is you haha. It's like beats, which apple now owns too. It's all about the brand, not the performance.
As a person who has a 15.6 inch monitor, I strongly agreed with you Edit: My Mom's pc monitor is 20 inch and holy crap it's almost as big as her pc case and im not comfortable at using it so I don't use her pc
You need to calibrate your monitor every couple of weeks. It depends more on what color space the panel can cover (SRGB, AdobeRGB etc.) and proper color calibration (either with built-in or external calibration devices). It also depends on the needs of the user and the aim (for example: printing, web release, mobile release etc...). If you are working for web usage get a good 100% SRGB Monitor and an external calibration device. Only people with similar calibrated monitors will see it exactly like you either way.
I have that first monitor and it's been great to me. It was pushed off my table and hit the ground pretty hard while I climbed into my room through the window because I locked myself out once but the monitor still has not had any issues and coming to 144 hz pc gaming from console gaming of the last generation was definitely night and day for me.
@@AvrgJack the frame rate is consistent but I should mention that you need to first put the monitor in 144hz mode. also whether or not you can maintain 144fps in games you play depends on what gpu your system has. I have an evga rtx 2060ko and it runs pretty much every game fine but if I were to increase the render resolution above 120% on some games or play with super sampling anti aliasing then the framerate drops to like 90.
@@AvrgJack ghosting is only noticeable on games with real time ray tracing but it's barely noticeable most of the time and I can opt to turn it off in almost every case.
i mean not really for the sceptre one its price actually slightly went down. it just spikes occasionally to around 300 whenever supply is low but normally its cruising at the same price as video. but rn its out of stock again so I'm really sad boi :(
Yeah this is why I kinda love but also hate LTT videos like these. On one hand, I find out about good deals that I wouldn't otherwise know about (like that cheap modified mobile i7 from China), but on the other hand the sudden rise in popularity for the products featured makes the prices go up, either because they sell out or because the seller inflates the price.
I finally bit the bullet on replacing my decade old 24/27 inch 1080i screens with modern ones, and for my secondary, I went with a 27 inch sceptre 1080p 144hz. I genuinely. cannot. believe. how good it is. It was like $220 and out of the box, the colors are gorgeous, the blacks are deep, no dead pixels, no ghosting, sharp as hell. I went with a 32 inch 1080p 164hz curved acer screen for my primary and it was godawful. Terrible colors, muddy sharpness, not very bright, and settings only did a tiny bit to alleviate things. Swapped it for a 32 inch 2k LG 144hz flat screen (also only like $260) and am so much happier. It's just the bigger 2k version of the one tested here, just with zero bezel and an oled display. Only thing I hate about the LG is that it has the "wall wart" style power supply, and it's way too goddamn short and REALLY doesn't play nice with my battery backup. Bricks are ABSOLUTELY the way these monitors should be if they want external PSU's
I was looking up 144hz monitors last night including the C24G1 so I'm mildly creeped out but I appreciate the video because I'm not going to purchase it anymore. I'd rather wait and save up for something better for the long run
an 2022 version: 1:10 Sceptre C24 - $249.97 (CURRENTLY IN SALE, $203.10) 7:18 NEWSYNC 24DP - $??? (SOLD OUT NOWHERE TO BE SEEN IN AMAZON) 12:31 LG Ultragear 24GL600F - $215.42 to $246.99 (RESELLERS) this is quite sad :(
I got mine on prime day and don’t have any regrets. The standard colors are quite bad as Linus points out but I was able to use the NVidia control panel’s Digital Vibrance setting to get it into the sort of color range I’d expect.
@@ojoface208 that's one of the three mostly used plugs in Germany and is international called "Type F". Other plugs we use are for devices without an Earth Contact
@An Equal I can agree. I literally just got this exact monitor. And its absolutely amazing.. has a odd flicker issue when looking at certain apps. Which is a known issue with it, But is buttery smooth in game. Well worth the trade off. I'm thinking of buying a second one!
I have the Sceptre and honestly I dont have that big of a contrast issue. Its kinda bad at first, but with some tweaking it does look a lot better. Would reccomend!
For those looking at the sceptre. I can say it is AMAZING it looks good, still works amazing, and ive had NOT A SINGLE TROUBLE! Ive had it for over 6 months now, and i would HIGHLY recommend!
Considering all I play is ROBLOX, MW2, and Fortnite, I think I'm pretty well off sticking to my 75hz 3ms monitor. It's lightweight which is good for if I have to adjust it for dusting. The bezels are also really thin which I like because then the border of my screen blends in with the background as I focus on my game play. For anyone wondering, it's the Sceptre F22 and it costs about $88 before tax on Amazon. Pretty good monitor for gaming if you're on a budget if you ask me.
im starting high school and here in mexico, the goverment gives you about 250 dollars every 2 months as some kind of scholarships that you can use on anything you need, one of these is definetly on my list, thank you!
WHAT ?! My LG 4k monitor comes with 2 HDMI and 1 DP. If I would have bought the newest model even with a USB C with Powershare but thats 150€+ . I paid 530ish
9:03 Should have included a warning: *This "adapter" is potentially DEADLY!* The "korean"* Schuko plug has two contact pads on the top and bottom, which are used for ground connection. The included "adapter" only has phase and neutral but no ground. Thus, using this thing you're running a high-powered device without the ground connection that it's protection mechanism *relies on.* Also, devices with a Schuko plug expect 230V/50Hz input and the "adapter" (which isn't much an adapter after all) obviously doesn't have any circuity in it to transform that to the american standard of 120V/60Hz, so if one was to use it with a device that can't handle both, that's asking for trouble! *actually, it's a german design used in many countries of the EU.
Yeah. For the record, most devices made these days have support for 120V-240V at 50-60HZ and will indicate so on their power supply. This means that you can use a standard pin to pin adapter, although if your device has a ground prong, the adapter must have that too. If this monitor doesn't even have that, I would strongly advise against it.
i got 2 of those sceptre monitors when they were $118 each, and then had enough money left over to get a rlly nice expensive main monitor, and honestly after using the sceptre monitors for over 3 years now, they are still amazing monitors for me
I ended up with a Sceptre C27 144hz. It's been a nice piece of kit and a great upgrade from the Dell 2410 I had been using for a main display. Side by side the default color temps are brighter on the sceptre but might be a little washed out. A custom color profile helped a bit and enabling the overdrive helps noticeably. The Dell, being a free pick up from a closing office, has been great up til now, but the high refresh rate and better color on the Sceptre makes it my main monitor for sure. Ditched the stand for a vesa dual monitor stand but will be keeping the included stand just in case. Also the screwdriver has a nice red rubber grip and seems a little bigger than the one Linus had and after assembling the vesa mount with it, I can say it's a nice inclusion. Props to Sceptre, they made a good budget monitor!
@@vvybezz still rocking it as my main display, so absolutely! There's occasionally sales on Amazon that make it even cheaper so keep an eye out for them
I got a ViewSonic xg2705 27-inch 144hz today, here in Ireland for £209 reduced from £249. The standard of the build it absolutely amazing, the stand is unmatched in quality and solid steel. And it's tool less, you don't need any tools to put it together. Highly recommended!
I grabbed one awaiting delivery. I figured it's either 27in monitor or = 24.5 at 144hz. we'll see how it looks at how the speed difference is combined with my other monitor. It should be a crazy ride. worst comes to worst I just sell and grab another one. Thanks for all the confidence though guys lol
@@KZNJay Overclocking a monitor can damage it. I currently have a trash 60hz monitor so I do it without caring. But on a 144hz monitor, hell nah. Don't mess with it.
@@ai-eo4dm Yeah I really want a 144hz monitor but I'm 14 and can't afford crap :( 60hz really limits me and holds me back, my monitor has really bad ghosting, screen tearing, and flickering.
Sceptre has always as long as I can remember been so generous in including a screwdriver and all of the cables you will need and also at a very affordable price
hey guys I got the scepter 27 inch 144hz (with the windows 10 compatible sticker included ;) and it looks pretty alright i would say, it still smears like Linus says and the worst it gets is when you have a dark and white object moving together. its Ok for budget but I would wait for 240 hz if you have 60hz right now.
@@cuy50 Wow, you must be a wonderful person... Not only is your comment massively racist and mean, it's also completely wrong. These plugs are mostly used in Europe actually. And what is this "we invented"? Why are you grouping yourself with inventors and scientists? This is some of the most stupid 'nationalism' I've seen lately. Just because you were born in a first world country doesn't mean that you're better than everyone else (as a person) or that you belong to some 'elite'. Your job and living standard might be better thant those of people in less developed countries, but mentally and emotionally you seem to be on the low end of humanity.
Bought my wife the Walmart brand onn gaming 1080p 144hz monitor with super nice stand, hdmi, and display cable included for 125$ and it’s great! For a 1080p monitor I would recommend it and you can walk into Walmart and buy it
