@@NonstopEurotrip By R54 I assume the lad means 54 kilos per meter of rail. We use that measurement in Russia as well. Though our mainline rails are R65 for the most part. The Wonogiri - Solo lines is the last of the inumerable "stoomtram" (steam tramway) lines which once blanketed the Javanese countryside, especially in central Java. These local lines used a mix of street, roadside and private rights of way to connect villages to the mainline railway. Alas road competition and lack of maintenance did most of these lines in, leaving only the Solo branch.

Just a little information about this line : Purwosari-Wonogiri was built by local tramway named Solosche Tramweg Maatschappij as part of Solo-Baturetno line construction, they operated local tram using horse as locomotive. But since their horses were dead due to disease outbreak, they replaced horse with an steam locomotive. Not quite a long, this company was acquired by Nederlandsch-Indische Spoorweg (NIS) due to financial difficulties. After the Independence of Indonesia (around 1970s), the line between Wonogiri to Baturetno was demolished for the construction of Gajahmungkur dam. The rest of line still used today which described in your video.

In Poland, there's a railbus route between Parczew and Lublin, operated by PESAs. These trains run via closest larger town to my mom's village (Sobolew, not the city in Masovian), Lubartów, using the line, which was closed in 2000 and reopened partially between 2014 and 2017, as between these years, there was only cargo traffic here. Also, in Czechia, the railbus routes are very common here, but Petr from Prague (owner of Pete Brandy channel) would say more about them, as these are served by class 870 railbuses or modernised RegioNovas.

looks like a good train. it gets all the major boxes cheecked. on time, seems to be reliable and it is reasonably priced for the local population to use. and the interior might not win design awards but it seems to be sturdy and low maintenance. I guess, the quality of the rails prevent the train from going faster, aswell as the higher fuel consumption at a higher speed (which would mean higher maintenance and higher operational costs).

So this railbus surely can be used on the street in solo, as the drivers in that area have good behavior, but I can't say the same for most of our cities, as the driver behavior is not the same like the ones in solo, for me it's not recommended to build railbus on the street in other cities lol

Great trip. Finally you upload this. Hope the upgrade in the future can increasing the operational speed, and can be compete with Local Intercity Buses running in same line. When you back to Indonesia again, I recommend Jenggala Train, running from Surabaya Kota to Sidoarjo via Mojokerto and Tulangan, but i prefer the Sidoarjo to Mojokerto route since it's more scenic (Notes: the schedule is very limited, choose the morning one to get best view). Or if you want bit anti mainstream, try the Dhoho Penataran train from Surabaya Kota to Surabaya Kota again (yes, this route is like Loop line), the sister train is Penataran Dhoho which on same route but different direction, Dhoho Penataran running west as far as Kertosono and then going south to Tulungagung and then going east to Blitar and Kepanjen and finally going north to Surabaya Kota via Malang. For Penataran Dhoho just reverse that Dhoho Penataran route. Hope you also try some Intercity buses and some Ferry running in my country. @@NonstopEurotripKAI has an order of 612 "New Generaton" carriages with PT INKA. So this will trasforming many trains services route in Java. Argo bromo anggrek brand new carriages was just arrived in Surabaya yesterday from Madiun Factory.. Hopefully it will in services when you come. But one note, the Luxury sleeper class on Argo Bromo anggrek will still using Older stock. Argo Lawu & Argo Dwipangga already using New Generation Carriages since last Desember, and you definitely can take a ride on them. However, many people thought about the seat on the new luxury class is hard rock, the Eksekutif class seat is way more soft and comfort..

I think this Bus-Train is still experimental........ 8 years ago PT. INKA ,experiments the driverless LRT train in Palembang, South Sumatera . After several design and manufacture modifications ,after the product is perfect ,they implement in Jakarta in 2021...... In July 2024 , PT. KAI (railway operator) shall implement Baterry Train in Bali. Also designed and manufactured by PT. INKA. The experiment also took place in Solo ,few years ago.......

Additional info : There is ocassional steam locomotive hauled train trip that goes from Purwosari station to Solokota station passing through the road. It's a rent-only tour trip so it's not so often the steam train seen passing through the road. I don't know if you notice it or not but on the north side of Purwosari station there is a railway shed where three steam locomotive stored, two are still able to hauled the tour train while the other are still waiting for reactivated, now covered with tarpaulin. Anyway, it's great that you able to experience this unique train (and visit Surakarta, my college town ). I often passing that road running railway despite not encountering the train cause it's only appear on morning.

If u ever back to Indonesia i suggest going to Jakarta to Bandung route or the other way, Bandung to Jakarta. There are 3 route, the ordinary trains, the panoramic, and the newest bullet train. I suggest the 2nd the most and then the 3rd option. 2nd have excellent views and scenery, the last is very convenient and snappy. Your call!

Very unique train indeed. However, i want to clarify one thing... the town of wonogiri and the town of sukoharjo actually similar in the term of population... and both town act as regency seat for their respective regency, which is the 3rd level of govermental division... when stating that sukoharjo only has 8000 inhabitant, you must be referred to "sukoharjo village" (5th level govt. division) instead of "sukoharjo district" (4th level govt. division)... if you refer to "sukoharjo district", it will be around 50.000 to 60.000 inhabitant, similar to wonogiri... as for wonogiri, there is no "wonogiri village". So, your number of 88.000 inhabitant surely come from "wonogiri district", which is 4th level govt division... and for me, wonogiri is my hometown, while sukoharjo is my workplace...😊

Also, try the Palembang LRT, where the line cut through the Musi river and run along Ampera Bridge in South Sumatera. Totally worth the trip!
