A silver-grey FiftySix Self-winding was the first Holy Trinity piece I ever had on my wrist and I immediately understood why they are what they are. it is a totally elevated experience from say a Rolex, Omega, Zenith, whatever. The in-house obsession is a relatively new thing, less than 20 years. Before that it was totally normal for all brands at any level to buy either movements or ebauche from other suppliers. A few specialty independents aside, today the basic mechanics of many high-end movements come out of a CNC machine, which work the same no matter where they are located.Assembly and finishing are the real thing, and VC does that to this movement. Enjoy, man, I would!

Couldn't agree more and I am wearing mine (grey dial) for 2 years now and couldn't be happier. It's also maaing to wear on light brown VC strap as well as the bracelet (got it from the boutique) - very versatile

I read about this watch and the movement "controversy" and still decided to get one. And I couldn't be miore happy with my choice. The movement is assembled and finished by VC and it looks the part, performs perfectly and the watch is a total beauty. By the way: only the selfwinding in the FiftySix has the VC 1326 movement that is based on Cartier 1904PC-MC architecture - all other FiftySix models have full in-house movements.

When you get this into your hands you see the finishing and the dial are so nice….I can’t convince movement snobs to understand but I’m sure you just haven’t seen it or you just can’t get it😎 I have it on blue leather… the way the light changes this blue from dark to light is not really talked about….. how clear the date reads and disappears…. The perfect color match to the leather is something to see The easy legibility of the sectors in the dial are so simple…. I find myself putting this on more than anything else in the last year!!!

The fiftysix is a beautiful watch. Love the elegant sector dial. Walked into the boutique last year looking to purchase the steel and walked out with the rose gold with brown dial. Where ever I go wearing it, I get lots of compliments especially from sales at ADs compared to any other watch I have (and I have loads). Absolutely love it. Probably my favourite

I think with in-house movements, it doesn’t bother me so much with simple 3 hand watches. Unless we’re talking complicated movements, I just want something accurate and well made that’s reliable and- if I can see- well finished. This for me, is a perfect one watch collection (maybe a g shock/Seiko for the beach but you get my point)
@Joe-xo3xy
@Joe-xo3xy Год назад
in house makes no sense at all, Patek purchases a movement maker, Blancpain purchases Federique Piguet and so on! It is still a 3rd party manufacturing the movement! As for your watch, it is a mid century classic sport watch on bracelet, bracelets existed in the mid century but they were a major focus, almost like jewlery and today, only a small handful bring that elegance into bracelets.

Best video I’ve seen on the Fiftysix. It’s a real looker of a watch which is the point of it. So many get too hung up on in-house movements - the movement is only one part of the watch. All luxury watches are overpriced. These watchmakers must have a good laugh watching fans justify prices by whether their movements are in house or not - their margin profile is the same and almost totally based on brand value. Buy what you like, don’t try to justify it.

@@thegraciefighter102 So you better never buy the original Royal Oak references like the Jumbo with the JLC movement. Which has been used by AP, PP and VC in various watches. The 1904PS MC derived VC1326 movement is hardly a Skoda - maybe Mercedes or Porsche 🙂

I'd love to see a two hand, no date version of a Fifty-Six with the manual wind 1400 movement that has the Geneva seal. It would be an interesting combination in a steel case for an entry VC model. Or the 4400 small seconds movement. I think my least favourite option is the automatic with date.

Sorry, but the shared caliber has cheapened the VC 56. This sharing of parts under Richemont is just like Lamborghini share some of its components with the mother company Audi. When you compare the Holy Trinity to micro brands like FP Journe, De Bethune, Czapek, H Moser ( you get the picture), VC & especially the VC56 is just a corporate watch that is marketed as a starter watch. It's all hype & marketing ( smoke & mirrors). I dont doubt the "quality & craftsmanship" of this watch, but it's all too commonplace among this tier of watch. Just because the case or bracelet is finely finished, does that make it less susceptible to damage?

@@WatchSociety I just checked and it is not the same movement used in the other watches I mentioned but it is a basic movement from Richmond group as you said. @koolpep
@koolpep Год назад
@@eahmhelmoa The VC 1326 is a two barrel movement derived from the Vacheron Constantin caliber 1326, a self-winding movement with a power reserve of 48 hours. It consists of 142 parts including 25 jewels, and measures 26.2mm across at a height of 4.3mm. It was introduced in 2018. It is based on the Cartier 1904-PS MC architecture. It is produced by Richemont's Manufacture Horlogère ValFleurier and finished, assembled, and regulated by Vacheron Constantin. This movement is also used by Piaget in their Polo S as the 1110P. All other watches in the FiftySix range are in-house and have the Geneva seal. Only the selfwinding does not. REgardless - I bought one and couldn't be happier with my choice. The movement performs and looks amazing. AP, PP and VC all used (and are still using in some cases) movements from JLC....

There is always some chucklehead on a VC video that has to pipe in acting as though they have some secret knowledge to “correct” the presenter. Blancpain is nothing more than a “brand name,” NOT a company. It went out of business and stoped making watches. Years later investors bought the rights to the “name” and started making watches under that name. If you’re going to comment pretending to know watch history then actually know some history.

The whole thing about in-house movements is BS. Honestly, it is just a marketing ploy to justify higher prices. Patek and VC and AP and others have swapped and shared movements. Now these brands have to make their own because ETA won’t sell them movements anymore.
