The #1 quarterback in 2000 was Chad Pennington. The player drafted #199 was Tom Brady. Draft positions and quarterback rankings don't tell the whole story on how successful a player will be.

Saying Poles is “ desperate for draft picks” is a reach when you consider he’s giving them away. He also traded JF away for a low pick next year. That doesn’t sound like desperation. This is the second year of a rebuild all the holes won’t be filled.

I say we use #9 if either Alt or Turner are there. If either Odunze or Bowers are there, we leverage them to gain at least a 2nd round pick if not more picks from #9. Consequently we use that traded back first on JPJ, Latu, or Verse. Use our new 2nd round pick on the either a WR, Frazier, or Sweat then.

If Poles trades down from 1 to take McCarthy he is as good as gone. That type of decision would be monumentally stupid. Trading down from 9 and you can probably solve DE2 and WR3 with that return. But if one of Rome/Nabers/Alt is on the board at 9 you pull the trigger and don’t worry about having less picks this year…

The BEARS didn't send all those people to see McCarthy. They sent all those people to see all the other MICH players that are going to be drafted.

Poles & Eberflus have said they love everything about Caleb, the last thing they are waiting for is his Medical’s, they got all the information they need from talking to teammates, coaches, dinner ect. How bad does Washington want Williams. It all comes down to that. If Washington gives up both 2nds in 2024, and a first in 2025, Poles should grab it. Jaden Daniels is a Heisman winner too. Trade down the #9 for another 2nd in 2024 and a second in 2025. Turn 2 picks into 5 picks this year and 2 more next year.

It's possible a team made an offer they have to pause and consider. This may mean they are looking at options if they accept a trade proposal

(1) Take a chance on Caleb Williams. I don't trust the bears when it comes to picking QB's, but truthfully the whole NFL is big on this guy. (2) At pick #9- Get the best edge rusher available. (3) The 3rd round pick has to be a Center. (4) Drade the 4th pick for a 5th this year and a 6th next year. Thats it , it's time to make the most of what we got. Bear down.

I think the only reason that they would be is draft picks I'm kind of in favor of that them trading down to we're we can pick u Mccarthy and maybe get the rest of the picks we need and that would be nice and the brand new offense and defense

What a dumbass move to get rid of Justin Fields, especially for a sixth round pick!

If they get a WR or a DE at #9, they will be a better team. Those are huge needs and there is a draft next year too. The team won’t be finished this year, but next year they should be pretty well shored up.

Poles wouldn't trade away draft picks and trade away Justin for a 2025 pick if he was obsessed with having draft picks this year. No team has all pros at all 22 starting positions. With these 4 picks, it's quality over quantity. Draft Caleb at 1, best available at 9, 4th and 5th. Could draft Verse or Turner, but Walker is fine. Could draft a DT, but spent a 2nd and early 3rd on Dexter and Pickens just last year. A bunch of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks doesn't fill all the perceived holes.

If we draft CW we have to trade that #9 pick once or twice. Poles may trade the first pick and get a haul and take one of the other qb's. Poles has cornered himself because he has to get what he needs now if the Bears are to make the playoffs this year. We're in the rebuild still and Poles must get more picks if the Bears are to make the playoffs this year and there's 2 more playoff caliber teams in our division

Poles said he would look at all the first round QB’s, remember he said he was going to explore every avenue before deciding which was the best for the team. This process could take up until the draft before he decides.

This is so funny. It would be hilarious if they draft Williams despite all the red flags and by next year at this time is demanding a trade and threatening to sit out and then Poles has to trade him for a 4th round pick

We are not done building the team. We can get some pretty good players with the picks. If we trade down from 9 we can get more.

Don’t know if you’ve been living under a rock, but all the Bears needs were never going to be addressed in this draft. Next year the Bears have a 1st and two 2nd rounders which is stacked with edge rushers. Maybe Poles gets aggressive and couples one of next years 2nd rounders with this year’s 75 to move up to get another day one starter. The only thing Poles must be sure to do at 1 and 9 this year is guarantee 2 day one starters.

We were one WR away just draft MHJ and to keep JF and with Keenan Allen , RB Swift and 2 TE sets Everett and Klemit thats spells wins and playoffs now there back 2 square one evaluating a new QB and another learning process with a rookie QB that spells another losing season and maybe spells Ryan Poles and Fluz jobs after next season they really just set themselves up for failure after trading the main piece of the offense in JF1 bears owners are not afraid to Fire there newly hired GMs’s and coaches I’ve seen it all the past couple decades and it can happen again if this whole build does not pan out ….Poles team re build has a due date and that’s this coming season

I think something that could work. Trade 1 for 3. Get a second, third and 2025 first. Use the 3rd to get MHJ and the 9th to get JJ. However now with JJ moving up so high in the draft, this probably isn't a possibility. But this was what i was thinking a few weeks ago.

you are more desperate for a top tier QB. Without that nothing else matters. You draft Caleb, trade the 9 if no WR is there. It's not rocket science.

When Poles traded Justin he was announcing that Caleb Williams was more important than getting as many quality draft picks as possible! I feel like Poles is far too liberal with tossing around future draft picks in season. These trades almost never ever pan out or make a real difference. On top of it, Poles seems to like trading down in the value rounds of the draft. Statistically a poor way to build a roster.

We either just need to take Kayla Williams number one, if we can get Romo doomsday number 9, we do, if not, then we Gor verse or liautu And with the 75 and 114, neither we could make some trades or I would just simply try to get a good center.If there's one available at 75 or a good offensive lineman or a good defensive tackle, and with the last pick spent it on a good defensive tackle or a difference of end it.That's what we do with the four picks

If the Bears end up trading their first pick and draft a quarterback other than Caleb Williams they should have kept Justin Fields and still draft a quarterback , but Justin Fields is gone so at this point it doesn't matter because what should have been is long gone. Now they have to gamble on a quarterback and don't know how it's going to work out.

The major draft problem is going to be taking Caleb.

If they're going that route, I would trade down the one to get multiple picks. I would trade down two to get multiple picks. Then I would trade down three to get multiple picks and go for Bo Nix Long before j.j McCarthy

That's how NFL GMs think. I get your concerns tho. But you can't look at it from your point of view. I used to do that for years. You have to understand the vision of the GM. Reasons why JJ isn't likely the draft pick. Poles isn't likely trading down from #1 so if JJ is who he likes, he's picking him. But don't overthink it. It's not likely that he is playing some sort of conspiracy to trick other GMs. He hasn't done it in the past so didn't expect it now. #1 is likely Caleb. #9 if not traded.. depending on the draft board is likely Alt, odunze, Nabers, turner, or Bowers. Those are the blue guys. If for whatever reason they are all gone, expect a trade. But one will likely be there. Depth at DT and other positions will come. But honestly depth is just that. Bears r in a gd spot at 1st n 9th, either get CW or JJ who r the two best QBs this draft. But at 9th, we def hav to snag a Center/OL as most urgent, then a DT/DL, and then the rest cuz TJ is too injury prone and only have Braxton n DW which is Not Enuf! It is funny all the talk about taking a Michigan qb being bad, just because he manages a game. Tom Brady from the college of Michigan was not the first, second or third qb in his fraft, not even a 1st round pick. He did pretty well. If we trade that first back to 3, we could probably get 3 2's, a 3, a 2025 1st and 2nd, and a 2026 1st with most coming from Washington. Brady was greatly helped by how good the rest of the team was on the lines and wr/te positions. Just saying.

So what if they sent heavy representation to Michigan???? There's more than JJ there FFS. People are reading waaay too much into it. Michigan has decent WR, DT, RB, and OL prospects. Also there is a chance that JJ goes to Minnesota. They do have two 1st rounds picks sfter all. Due diligence as well. I'd be more concerned if they didn't look at all QB prospects. My opinion is we trade down at 9. Not too far though. I also think we need to restructure contracts to get more cap space this year. Not sure who but we need a more seasoned vet back up QB to guide our rookie. Also sign a more Edge, DT, and WR depth.

They have holes I understand but get the QB right fixes a lot. If the Bears have Caleb at 1 on their board you ignore the offers and draft him period. In terms of draft picks it’s not about quantity it’s about quality. I’d rather draft an all pro at 9 then a bunch of decent players to fill holes. Holes fill themselves with elite players playing important positions. If you have a bunch of players you like at 9 then fine trade down but don’t do it just to get more picks.
