One of the key jobs of any king is to ensure the succession of the crown to the next generation. While Of course King Aegon iii had his brother and his offspring with Lara Of Lys, without the King himself producing heirs the would always be a question mark over the succession. The King would have five children, two boys and three girls and each would earn there place in the history of the seven kingdoms of westeros.

The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on George R R Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series. The information in this video comes from the books a world of ice and fire as well as fire and blood.

Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen was trapped on Dragonstone by her brother King Aegon ii with no way to escape her fate. What was to come was the final showdown between the two main players of the dance of the dragons and bring the war into its final phase. The House of the dragon was crumbling and the events that was about to follow would only cause more damage to both sides of the war.

Hello All, just a quick note. When i talk about there being a succession crisis if Aegon did not have children of his own, of course i have not forgotten about Viserys and his kids. What i mean is the crown passing to Visery would not be a ideal situation given the mistrust around the Lyssene aspect of his life with some in the realm still being suspicious of people such as Lara. Also while my COVID is much better sadly two days ago i had to put my dog to sleep. He was 16 years old and had heart failure, we only got him to the vet just in time to be honest. He lived a long and happy life, but i'm not exactly in the right state of mind to be replying to lots of comments right now. i will do what i can, and any i miss i will catch up on in the coming few days,

Sorry to hear about your dog passing. I've grew up with many dogs so I understand that when losing one you had for so long its not losing a pet, its losing a family member. I'm sure your buddy lived a great life with a great family. You have my condolences.

True. Still, the Queen gave birth at around 15/16 so, he didn't wait outside of normal age considering the time. Plus, he likely chose a young bride to stall on marriage in the first place😅

Actually the whole line before them were pretty great. Jacaerys, Lucerys and Joffrey were known as very honourable and pretty great kids consider they were only 15,14, and 12 when they died. Then we have Baela and Rhaena who were pretty great ladies and leaders. Then we got aegon III and Viserys whom turn out to be great men and pretty good kings given the circumstances their crowns were handle.

The last named dragon rider, Rhaena, married a Hightower. Either the Maesters have something to do with it or there was a political backlash to the Hightowers potentially having dragonriders that forced Aegon to do something extreme.

Daeron and Baelor will both succeed their father as king in time, and Daena will be a favorite paramour of her cousin, Aegon IV, and the mother of his eldest, and favorite bastard, Daemon Waters, also known as Daemon Blackfyre.

I'm pretty sure Aegon the 4th (only a prince at the time) visited Daena only a few times during the reign of Baelor since Baelor had locked his 3 sisters in the Maiden-vault to "protect them" and perhaps avoid temptation himself. Aegon visited Daena from time to time and from this union was born Daemon Waters. A child who would go on to cause problems for the Targaryens that would span generations.

Daeron I gets way too much of a pass in my opinion. The realm was still healing from the Dance and things were at a delicate stage. Daeron could have continued his father's peace, rebuild the realm, and bring about a second age of peace and prosperity. At the very least, he should have made sure he had an heir. Instead, he chose to invade Dorne and got himself and 60,000 men killed, and sent the realm down the path that led to Aegon IV and the Blackfyre Rebellions, and the ultimate fall of the Targaryens. And heck, his conquest of Dorne might have even worked if Daeron wasn't such a fool politically. What he should have done when he'd conquered Dorne was do the same thing Aegon I did with the other conquered kingdoms was make the Martels Wardens of the South and bethothe himself to the Martell Princess and heir. Instead, he made a freaking Tyrell the steward.

Again, the Blackfyre Rebellions are solely the fault of Aegon the Unworthy, who was the third king after Daeron the Young Dragon. To put events that occur during the reign of the fourth king after the Young Dragon, 35 years after his end, on him is completely ridiculous. His heir before he left for Dorne was his brother, Baelor, they then had their sisters, uncle and cousins. So what is it that you want, should he have married before invading Dorne to produce another heir or keep himself open for a marriage alliance? Seems like you can't decide. The Young Dragon did keep himself open for a marriage alliance with the Martells, they just betrayed their banner of peace and took him out dishonorably. Yes he should have learned from the histories of the First Dornish War, and loss of the first Rhaenys, to never trust the Martells. Leaving a Tarly or other marcher lord behind to keep the peace would have been a much better option than Lyonel Tyrell.

Yeah...how to bookend the beginning with King Jahaerys sitting on the council. Maybe Aegon III taking the throne with Jahaera by his side as the last two Targs (since Viserys was presumed dead)

Best case scenario, they do sort of a greatest hits of his otherwise peaceful reign, then you change your cast hopefully again with new talent, and continue through Daerons reign to Baolor, Vis II, and then just keep running through up until a climactic Robert Rebellion series. An advantage Age HOTD has actually is it can make huge time jumps and update the roster periodically

Apparently before the show was launched George had three demands, 1. The Kings guards cloaks are pure white 2.there be actual clear heroldry and coats of arms 3.it end with jaeharys 2nd reign beginning, which is weird cause that's late late down the line

Their were other "Daeron's" in the Targaryen line when they were Lords of Dragonstone but King Viserys I had the first Prince Daeron(He was Princess Rhaenyra youngest half brother who fought for his brother Aegon II on the Greens side of the Dance) BUT if you want to be technically, I believe King Jaeherys I had a Prince Daeron but he died in the craddle or stillbirth I forget which.

I'm team black as I believe the King makes the finaly decision on who he wants to be his heir and not the people who think who should be the heir but it wouldve been nice to see someone like Prince Daeron become King.

@@NRV0 I think that as well, however I'm team green simply because I didn't like her passing bastards as heirs, as that would cause major problems. Not just her personality, but also the fact that she's not very smart at all. The safest way would be to not make them the heirs, everyone knew the truth and there would be big problems after her father who's the only blind one, dies. She was just either stupid or selfish in her decisions to risk it for power. Then the cruelty. She reminds me of Cersei, they have big parallels.

Most of King Aegon III kids were pretty interesting people, other than Princess Rhaena. Nothing to bad against her, I just find her to be a bit bland. Also before someone mentions Baelor, yes he was crazy AF but he was crazy interesting lol.

@@philippeblais8594 Which is odd, since his own Dragon, Stormcloud, struggled to fly him back to safety, dying shortly after arriving back on Dragonstone and having the young Prince returned to safe hands. Sunfyre killing his mother was traumatic I understand, but Aegon III hating Dragons after his own died after spending all his strength trying to save him seems... well, kinda sour to me. Stormcloud seems to no longer be in Aegon's memory, which is a shame.

Her claim was made weaker than Viserys I because of the dance though. Even though it was the bloodline of the blacks on the throne, the succession laws of the greens were what became the official succession rules

I think Rhaena was named after Rhaena, because Rhaena and Baela brought Daenaera Velaryon to Aegon iii so in any case Daenaera, Rhaena, and Baela were close or at least its possible they had a close bond, i think.

There were eggs. The hatchlings never grew beyond juveniles. They are more deformed and weak. The successive generations try to hatch the remaining leftover eggs

The Last Dragon that died during Aegon III reign layed a clutch of 5 Eggs. Chances are each of his 5 kids received a Dragon egg though they never hatched
