As somebody from SF: nobody who's actually from SF calls it Oceanview. It's always been 'Lakeview' and everybody calls it that plus you'll see murals all over the hood with the name Lakeview. It's also where Cougnut from I.M.P. (RIP), Killa Keise (RIP) and Cellski were from, and those are some of the most underrated rappers ever. (Along with plenty of other rappers from SF ) Cougnut was basically San Francisco's 2Pac, Cellski's most well known song "Livin In The Bay" is essentially the Bay Area's "NY State Of Mind", and Killa Keise was actually how I first heard about Nipsey Hussle from the song "Dont Trust Nobody" back in 2011 right before Killa Keise got killed. SF has so many other rap legends I can go on and on: IMP, RBL Posse, Cold World Hustlers, 11/5, UDI, Andre Nickatina, Cellski, Killa Keise, Equipto, Messy Marv, Berner, Total Devastation, Deco D. Young Ed, Mr. Sandman, San Quinn, Fly Mar, Guce, Roach Gigz, Big Rich, Boo Banga, Rappin 4 Tay, JT The Bigga Figga, Don Cisco, Paris, Ya Boy AKA Rich Rocka, NOH Mafia, etc..., (I definitely forgot some) And that's just old school SF rap, the new generation is going crazy right now too
And only white people don’t like the city being called Frisco. In the Mission “San Fran” is used also. It’s equivalent to San Jo, Sacras, Stocktone, Gilas etc
Thank you for connecting the history of discrimination which lead to the violence. Too often people just leave out the background and pretend that we put ourselves in ghettos, when in reality we're forced into them.
Almost every story starts out with black people either looking for better lives elsewhere or they were established and white people destroying it and creating what we have now. Then have the nerve to say it's black peoples fault.
Yea 100% but why do people continue with the ghetto culture why don't they try to do better for themselves everyone nowadays has access to the internet and a free education on RU-vid tiktok ig etc
@@MrCabra23 Its not that simple. For one, a lot of the free education is not industry specific or practical. A ton of useful educational content is copyrighted and sold by authors teachers and universities. But the main issue is that the discrimination is ongoing. You still have many people growing up in broken homes because their parents are or were locked up and being exposed to illegal ways of making money. There is still hiring discrimination, sentencing disparities and a whole list of public policy decisions which perpetuate the cycle. And this isnt guesswork, there are countries that have essentially solved these systemic issues of discrimination and resulting generational poverty, so the idea that individuals should just pull themselves out of it by researching shit on tiktok doesnt really make sense. Community activists have been improving the situation on the local level, but without widespread redistribution of wealth and resources, there is only so much that can be done. imo it really comes down to the values of those with power in the country. In america we will sell the farm to go to war and blow shit up, but we only toss peanuts to the poor. Until that changes no amount of free thinking and higher purpose is going to convince all of the kids growing up in the hood that they shouldnt hit that lick or make that play to make ends meet.
Swamp Storiez your pension for telling history ESPECIALLY the history not formally/regularly taught like the actual foundation of the neighborhoods we know today is probably my favorite facet of these videos. never stop exploring/explaining the history of these places your viewership needs to learn these things. Keep up the good work as always!
I don't think he really got a whole hour of actually interesting shtt, but you know what, id def sit through an hour even if it was mostly minor details
Your videos are great quality and have potential. You’re a good researcher and story teller. I think you would kill it if you made longer videos diving deeper. Love the channel
I appreciate you giving your honest opinion cause most act like set ups like this doesn't exist. Putting a stop to blacks creating generational wealth!
They destroyed the filmore because they saw a group of people succeeding that they didn’t want to succeed tell me I’m wrong, any time u see eminent domain it’s just the city playing bully
Destroying generational wealth over and over again all over the United States. Now they sit back an say it's all of our fault for us not having anything or knowing how to act! Man Fuck America ‼️
you needa do a video on the sideshows in oakland, the rise and fall of different clubs, shits hella interesting once you start to hear about the stories of the ogs
you showed the house i grew up in like 4 times in this video. my mom still works and runs the old folks retirement home at the top of filmore by that mcdonalds. You can say what you want about the filmore guys but ive been knowing them my whole life, they watch over my mom, and lookout for her while shes at work. I have a cool story for you. My mom is white, and she works and manages a primarily black retirement home funded by the city/state. My mom always takes care of people and has got people housing for years in that neighborhood. One day a crackhead assaulted my mom as she walked to her car right down filmore and the crackhead was calling her N lover, etc and spit on her. Just as soon as that happened the OG's from the block rolled up and wheeled that dude into the back alley and he never bothered anyone on that block again. I have so much love for the mo for real. So much history in that neighborhood.
I watched a video about that , I don’t know all the detail if they are facts I’m not from out there , but it seem like Bandgang been getting clapped. I fuck with bandgang back 2015.
Damn, I went to highschool with Dex. I remember always hooping with him in PE class and us always going crazy during 3 point shoot out. Crazy how this is the life they live from being a product of their enviorment.
That’s my lil cousin. He jus got killed last month. The crazy part about it is… MOST OF THESE DUDES ON HERE IS OUR LEGIT FAMILY!💯 From Uptown, to OC, & Sunnydale. It’s hella politics involved, but it’s a shame that it’s gotten this far outta hand wit our people! Next brothers gone be literally killin they brother! This shit hurt. I wuz jus watchin his latest video, and this came on… I can’t even watch this shit rn.😞
@@MudvilleMedia stay in your place and don’t speak on what you don’t know clown 🤫 not going back and forth with some peon in the comments I’m in the bay drop that addy I’ll slide today.
The history lesson in the beginning is everything because it shows why this happens. Most ppl who are not from these places would watch this and just think, they are all animals, thugs etc...This video intro shows why this happens.Again , they destroyed a thriving black town sending us back years and years just like with Black Wall Street in Oklahoma's Greenwood and Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood. That set us back as a race because had those areas not been destroyed, they would have spreading all over America and change the landscape for blacks in this country as a whole. Those things did not happen by accident and those black ppl are not like that because of race or any other stupid prejudice reasoning.Keep up the good work and shining light on the truth...
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Exactly ‼️ Destroying generational wealth over and over again, now they sat back an say it's all our fault. When they made our people the way that they are‼️ Fuck America‼️That's why I chose not to go to the service to fight for this crooked ass country.
Nah fr isn’t it weird how nobody questions this shit. Not only in sf but all over the U.S where us Mexicans and Balcks be at. The system was clearly made for white people. Tired of this shit frfr its time we gather up on this bs gov.
I love the historic part! I'm also glad that you showed what foul ass SFPD did as these "gang injunctions". They pushed them out of their safety zones causing a lot of them to be murdered elsewhere. Most of the current info is all wrong! Also, RIP to my guy Jamal!!! He was from the Chop but never did nothing on these streets to cause him his life! Rip to all of my guys, when you're real Fillmoe then every death affected you somehow. Get the facts straight SS!
Rip Scharod he just had a birthday recently.... his death hit hard and close to home for me he was like a lil brother to my roommate at the time and he would hang out with us in the valley it's sucks how bad it really was in fillmoe at the time..... Also RIP to Ray "Diddy" Bass and to my other young homie Jamar Aka Big Bear.....
@@dreweden3499 shit bro I’m from Frisco lived in EPA in the 90’s spent time in the town Richmond and Sac lol been all over got family ery where. Tbh it’s the cheapest out here by Stockton 💪🏼 I love the City and the Town tho ain’t nuin like em fasholy 💯💎🤟🏼
@@RambofromWarzone oh shit so u already done the plan they got for us and went out to Stockton, like so many before. Pretty sure its better than sac or Vegas or Antioch tho. Well, maybe you could tell me. I know that before I got sec 8 there was no chance I could rent a house anywhere bay area more or less
This is an actually crazy story and I appreciate you sharing. I grew up right around the corner on Fulton and Broderick, what would still be considered as Uptown but is now known to yuppies and gentrifiers as NOPA or North of the Panhandle. I would always see CDP members growing up walking down Grove st. around the corner, but was young and had no idea what was going on. As I got older those same folks would slowly disappear. Thank you for putting all the pieces together. You should definitely do videos on Mally Bo, Swervvy, Lil Kayla and Larry June. Emphasis on Lil Kayla since she's the hardest female rapper out of the bay right now and has a story of struggle and hardship like no other.
10 of them went down for life because they refused to talk. Damn, that's insane...so rare these days, and those were supposed to be the soft dudes from Fillmore?
The Chop now stands where The Original TurkWood Housing Projects stood they looked exactly like The High Rise O.C projects, but it was bigger then O.C around late 1988 TurkWood PJ’S had been empty out and got demolished .
Hell yea, that story of how all the hoes he had with him in LA got knocked and he ended up having a whole nother line of hoes that nobody knew about go down to LA and get to work was some ultimate p shit💯🌉
So what Im getting from all these videos is one major thing. In the 50s and 60s, the state politicians/governments played a big part in creating impoverished neighborhoods/towns/cities. Now they have the audacity to be confused and complain about those same neighborhoods they destroyed.
I’m sorry, this lady said she has 4 kids and no daddies in their lives and needs her brother to be there. Taking him to jail after being involved with the murder of a random man is unfair?!
