The scene where Aslan sacrifices himself is soooo much sadder in the book. I remember Aslan almost collapsing on his way there and the girls walked on either side of him as he went. The girls show concern when he tumbles and he replies “I am sad and lonely. Lay your hands on my mane so that I can feel you are there and let us walk like that.” Asking for that small comfort as he willingly goes to meet his death 😭 I cried so hard reading it

@@shaggymofo7716The only thing Disney messed up about Prince Caspian was the release time. Making the sequal to a movie with the world having the arc of "always winter never Christmas" to Santa showing up that was released in December turn around and release in the summer was a mistake. Say what you want about Disney Star Wars but they were so afraid of people getting scared by the timing of the release within the year that they changed every release post-TFA to be December, because they saw how Prince Caspian underperformed.

@@devilovesdevil but i think that would ruin his redemption in the movie. The book lets us know from the get-go that Edmund was kind of an ass, but maybe it wouldn't come off as strong in the movie with just one scene. It would seem to most people like the betrayal wasn't his fault at all, which it very much was, and strip away the responsibility from him. The fact that most of that was his own childish desire for vengeance and not realizing how serious it would be makes his redemption arc a lot more powerful. And the movie can't just throw out exposition about it like a narator in a book can.

First: solid props for calling herself out on things like "they're not orphans" and "1940s kids love that Turkish delight." Fully appreciate. Second: The reason she jumps more at the jumps scares in this film is because they are in the middle of a character introspection both times. One, we are marveling at how dumb/jerky Edmund is, then Bam! Then we are being happy for the sisterly love of Susan and Lucy. There is no lead up. There is no suspense. There is no change in music. They suck you in with great character love, then hit you out of no where, unlike most horror films that train you to expect it at certain points. Third: You wanna live in that aesthetic? I have THE BEST news for you. There is a whole community of people who also love this stuff. Time to either visit a Renn Faire, or even better, join a LARP. Just one time, to test the waters. See how you feel at the end f the weekend. :)

Fun fact: That teacher they were with, Digory, he was there as a child when Narnia was created, and he got an apple in a garden to heal his sick mother and from the seeds of that apple grew a tree, which was then made into the wardrobe that got the to Narnia. That's why he was so surprised to discover Lucy said she found a hidden world in the closet. Him and Penny, a childhood friend, were also responsible for setting the Witch free, she used to be a statue in Charm (the place they go to in the third movie with the green mist thing)

That scene in the movie where they all started ripping Aslans mane off made me bawl my eyes out as a kid. Nothing has made me cry as hard as watching that and watching Mufasa die when I was young.

@@locke5046 Well Lion King was the first real movie I ever watched and fell in love with. Before I watched lion king I think I watched a total of 3 other movies too so it was definitely one of the few movies out there for me to love, but I did quickly. And I was maybe 4 or 5 when I saw it. It was the first time I saw death portrayed anywhere. So it made me cry badly. Aslan getting his mane cut off just felt so cruel as a kid. Also I'm native american and the thought of someone forcibly cutting off my own hair makes me incredibly afraid and disgusted. It's just apart of the culture to find hair being removed by force super disturbing. But yes, I do feel for lions. Lol. Bambi's mom dying too is a classic reason as a kid for me to cry so it wasn't just lions. But mainly animated animals.
