Ford tried the T bird, GM had the Sky, Sunfire, etc. and Chrysler gave us this. I don't think any exec saw much future or profitability in these ventures, regardless of the car show mania they elicited. As Bill says, God bless them for making niche two seaters that were cool, but didn't sell big enough to last.

Bought a blue roadster 8 yrs. ago. My wife and I still love it. Smoothest and quietest ride of anything close to its class. Definitely a Mercedes, but better looking than most 2005 Mercedes bodies.Get a lot of looks and compliments. Still looks almost new, even after 100,000 + miles.

Having just returned from another visit to lovely Naples from London I have to say you don't know how lucky you are to live in such a wonderful part of the World. However I have to agree with you about the drivers - the standard is terrible and falling! Changing lanes dangerously without indicating and driving at night with headlights on full beam! Jeez!! We also ended the trip with 4 days in Palm Beach and loved it! You Floridians have it made! We also cruised through your lot in our gray 300 C and actually saw you, but we were both in such a good mood we never stopped to introduce ourselves! I had an 05 Crossfire Convertible Blaze Red with the white interior. I flippin loved the car. But this car does have stalling issues. You have to become fluent and proficient of changing out the CPS sensor. Fairly simple to do but bad on your back. Then there was some problem with the control circuit board where you have to re-solder one of the connections every so often. The heat in the engine causes the connections to loosen up. I sold mine back in 2015 but wish I had it back so I am looking again for another one. Same color scheme though. I was in Palm Springs, CA with the top down one day and someone pulls up next to me asking..."Is that a Ferrari"? Then another time 3 women were taking selfies with my car. Laying on the hood and all. I guess they too thought it was a Ferrari.

I love my Crossfire. Garage kept. I plan on keeping it forever. 50 yrs it will be considered a classic.

I sold these when new and found them to be very enjoyable and fun to drive. I loved the SRT's power but found the entry-level model to be the most fun to drive. Unlike the Z car and other competitors in the market segment the Crossfire, even with its short wheelbase, road better. In the Z and other similar type cars, you could feel running over a bottle cap or cigarette butt, however, the Crossfire was quite smooth riding. At present these cars are a bargain and can still be found in truly outstanding condition. Now is the time to purchase one. The drivetrain is SLK and the body was made in Germany by Karmann.

These cars actually look their best in non-metallic colors. It mutes the arguable over-detailing. The yellow is killer. Those parallel channels on the hood must be a reference to those on trunk of the 1961 300-G I used to have a 1963 Imperial service manual that once belonged to the Chrysler Missile Division library. It still had the sleeve with a card in the back.

“The Fat Cobra” 😆 OK, now, the Crossfire despite its underpinnings is an awesome car. Way better looking than any SLK ever. It still looks fresh. Also, the roll bars are functional, they’re bolted directly to the chassis.

I think the reason, well two reasons if I may, that American cars like the Chrysler Crossfire, the Chevrolet Camaro ( in its last generation ) and a few others that went the way or are going the way of penny candy and ice cream counters is first - Shifting control at the tops of the corporate ladders and second - the millennials. The SUV soccer moms that cant keep their legs together and the males who all want to be some wacked out bong-d-bong music maker. Men like Bill and myself are dinosaurs.

My step daughter owns a 2006 Chrysler Crossfire coupe. Its a wonderful 2-seat coupe that's a dream to drive (if she could keep from wrecking it).

I own a 2004 Crossfire Roaster after looking at 2nd hand BMW Z3, BMW Z4 and Mercedes SLK... The Z3 is a classy car but so small for a tall person when compared to the Crossfire. I must admit the 2004 Crossfire Roadster today looks so much more modern than the 2004 Mercedes SLK. It is a head turner here in the UK, especially with the top down, much more so that a Mere... I love the drive...

I love the Crossfire. But the manual gearbox is NOT a Mercedes one. It is Chryslers own gearbox.

I would agree about the stock/aftermarket radio thing except when the stock one looks like the one in here. Not that the Bluetooth aftermarket one looks better, but if they both look dopey you may as well have one that does what you want it to do.

my dad bought a 2002 300m when I was a toddler. We often spent my childhood at the nearby Chrysler service center and as a kid, these Crossfires were the absolute coolest cars possible to me. the srt crossfires were my dream cars. Now as someone who (hardly) understands how car works, im more interested in Caymans/Boxters now but this car looks cool for what is is. Excited to see how this ages 30+ years from now
