Thanks for this great video. I'm going to work in Blantyre as a volunteer for a couple of years and your 'tour' has really helped in that it has introduced the city centre to me.
I loved this place lived here 8 years. Now am india and going to Vegas soon. This is so innocent place and people are the Best!. I love you Africa. You gave me the love and my life. I will do great one day for all the people which are suffering from poverty. God is with me. Blantyre i love u Malawi Lilongwe
Lived in Blantyre between 2003 and 2009. Great memories - Loved going to Kamuzu stadium (then Chichiri stadium) to watch MTL Wanderers. Also went to independence celebrations in 2003 in what was known as "rally". Late Chakufwa Chihana, late President Dr. Mutharika and Bakili Muluzi were in attendance. I consider Blantyre my hometown to be honest) Almost everything I know about life - survival, hustle, etc I got it from BTZ.
I taught school in Malawi from 1968 to 1970, when the population of Blantyre-Limbe was about 100,000. The only tall building was the US Embassy (three floors) and it had the only elevator in the country. This drive is astonishing. So much has changed.
I lived in Malawi limbe from 1968 to 1973.This was the era of Kamizu Banda.Life was simple and pure.No TV ,long hair,or mini skirts. There was only one newspaper. So lots of free time for sports and travelling.
Yewo Chomene Bamudala...tidazikonda!!...This sure does bring memories...i must say that some of the places have changed, but still same ol 'BTZ' as we affectionately called it. Its time to get back :-)!!...Well done.....MORE,MORE,MORE!!!
Thanks for the pictures of Blantyre. Its an amazingly beautiful place next time though try to reduce speed when you are taking pictures so that we can fully appreciate them but thanks a lot
Wow Blantyre hasn't changed a bit! I was last there in 1995 when my son finished his high school at St Andrews, and it still looks the same as I left it.. How sad.
am proud to b malawian but wht ur saying is true.its sad to see hw malawi gvt stil trying to reduce poverty but only concentrate on very poor villagers,so many countries they change the concept & now they target the middleclass inorder to bridge the gap btwn poor & rich coz the middle, majority are well educated or literate but many are unemployed..invest heavily in infrastructure, tourism & Internet u wil create jobs & new ideas ...ask Rwanda & Ethiopia hw they do it 21 century way
@Thetrutv , Yes it is safe. Ofcourse you must be carefull and pay attention to any kind of problem but beside it its pretty safe and full o nice people. I've lived there a bit more than 3 months and I've enjoyed my stay. Therefore I recomend it to anyone.
Anybody read "Jungle Lovers"? Where is Auntie Zeeba's Eating House and all the prostitutes? Oh, theres the famous clocktower at 4:26, showing four different times, all of them wrong.
