The Ljubljanica river is a tributary of the Sava river. Much of Ljubljana Castle (including the chapel and without the museum and lookout tower) is free to visit. Dragon bridge was one of the first reinforced concrete bridges that were built in Europe. Edit: After stealing the Golden Fleece from Colchis, Jason and the Argonauts went from Black Sea through rivers Danube, Sava and Ljubljanica. They killed a dragon that lived in the swamps where Ljubljana is situated, after that they dismantled their ship Argo and continued on foot to the Adriatic Sea through which they returned to Greece.

Thank you so much for the information! Admittedly, we did not know much about Ljubljana before visiting but we are so glad we made a stop in Slovenia. We did go into the castle passed the gate but it felt like we shouldn't go any further without paying. Glad to know we didn't break any rules 😀. Thanks for watching!

A lot of the cool architecture that you just saw was designed by Jože Plečnik, the most famous Slovenian architect. His works are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Just came across your channel and watched this vlog from my home town. Nice video. But I would say dragons are not a big thing in Ljubljana, just for the tourists. 😉 First time I hear "štruklji" is translated in english in dumplings. Very odd, because they arent dumplings. And that is bread crumbs with butter on top of them. Also the translation of "žganci" in spoon bread is funny. Never heard of that word in english. It is something like a (buck)wheat mush and it goes in that soup or we it alongside sousage and cabbage.

Spoon bread blew our minds. Never heard of it. Trying to search for it online was also surprisingly tough. I wouldn't call the struklji dumplings either but somehow that's what it translates to. Very memorable meal to say the least!

Haha ya I am sure a warm drink like that in the cold could creep up on you fast. As for countries we recommend, a lot depends on the traveler and what you like. We like a balance of affordability, ease of travel and sights to see or good hiking. Our favorites have been: Turkey Portugal including the islands Montenegro Italy Road tripping the USA Our travels have mostly only been through Europe so this list will most likely change in the next few months as we make our way east!
