I will never get over it to be honest. They both still make solo music and as much as I love John Paul White, joy Williams still makes music in the style of the civil wars and her new album is so good
Honestly, I don't think any of us will ever get over this 😅 All the emotions they conveyed in such a raw and beautiful way through their music...it's simply unmatched, it was magical. And we, the fans, are still here, after all this time 🖤
I'm not sure what it is about this track that makes it one of my favorites off the album. It is slightly haunting and incredibly evocative. I love the tenseness of the melody, and the lyrics, as always, are wonderful. Hopefully their problems will diminish and Joy and John Paul will be able to write together again. Individually they are gifted, and together their talent is such that shouldn't be held back. I wish them the best.
That was perfectly put. They do have responsibilities to other people than us... If they can work it out, and be back in operation, so much the better. If not, well, it just makes what we got from them while we could all the more precious for its rarity.
My 2 favorite sets of lyrics from this song: Let's let the stars watch, let them stare Let the wind eavesdrop, I don't care For all that we've got, don't let go Just hold me I can't pull you closer than this It's just you and the moon on my skin (how can you not fall in love with them with lyrics like these)
I don’t want to talk right now I just want your arms wrapped around Me in this moment Before it runs out Oh don’t say that it’s over Oh no say it ain’t so Let’s let the stars watch Let them stare Let the wind eavesdrop I don’t care For all that we’ve got, don’t let go Just hold me I can’t pull you closer than this It’s just you and the moon on my skin Oh who says it ever has to end Oh don’t say that it’s over Oh no say it ain’t so Let’s let the stars watch Let them stare Let the wind eavesdrop I don’t care For all that we’ve got, don’t let go Just hold me Let’s let the stars watch Let them stare Let the wind eavesdrop I don’t care For all that we’ve got, don’t let go Just hold me Just hold me Just hold me Just hold me Just hold me
It's songs like this that make me fall deeper in love with this band, I hope they resolve their issues and continue to make beautiful music together soon!
I saw The Civil Wars live twice, the last time days before they announced the break-up. It was obvious at that concert things weren't right. Listening to their songs now, more than ten years on, I'm struck by how romantic and yearning a lot of them were. I do think that's a clue to what went wrong.
@@ragpicker006 I started listening around a year before they split up. I noticed the looks and nuances in every music video and live performance. I was more surprised to find out they weren't together....so much longing and hope in the lyrics and looks
"I can't pull you closer than this. It's just you and the moon on my skin" and all the rest...just..UGH! We've all felt the NEED that comes from these lyrics at one time or another. The desperation to be held SO CLOSE by that one person that absolutely nothing else matters ❤❤
Hopefully JP and Joy will get back together to create music when their kids are a few years older. I respect both of them, especially JP, for walking away from fame and money to be there for their families.
Um, they walked away from their music because they were clearly in love with each other, and her husband was their manger :p They broke up mid-tour. They had such amazing chemistry that it got personal and they had to stop making music together… those two were made for each other! PS: how do you think they wrote this song?
The love of my life and I would listen to this song and I felt like we "could not be closer than this".. I don't think I will ever feel that close to someone.
I miss them. They made amazing music. It makes me so sad to know that I will never hear another new civil wars song. Every time I come back to their music I'm in love all over again ❤️
you mean you need people who are portraying real life tribulations, that are their sacred grounds to walk & grieve, which entertains you... to entertain you, when the less they have to do with entertaining you, the more real their value holds... is something that you need???
This is literally the only country band I have listened to and actually like songs. Well done Civil Wars, well done. (she says as she slowly claps her hands and has a smug look on her face)
One most beautiful, romantic songs I've ever heard. Such powerful lyrics and the way their voices melt together is so pure. So sad they split, I can only hope they can give it another go because their music is so amazing.
