Live Under The Sky at Denen Coloseum in Tokyo, Japan on 24th July 1981 STANLEY CLARKE (b) / GEORGE DUKE (key) / DENZIL MILLER (key) / EDWIN MARTINEZ (g) / GORDON PEEKS (ds)
Jazz artists jamming on rock and roll. How many rock stars can jam in jazz as good as Stanley Clarke and George Duke - who started with Frank Zappa before he got famous for his jazz, funk and R&B
I remember finding my copy of the album school days near Gloucester County college at a used record store. I felt like I hit the lottery. The following week I got his first album with Vulcan Princess on it. I was stoked!
One of the greatest atmospheres of all time. This is how Jazz Rock Fusion stars should have been celebrated in America. Great performance. Thanks, I posted this video a few years ago, but my account was deleted.
1981-07-24 The Clarke / Duke Project @ Live Under the Sky Festival, Denen Coloseum, Tokyo, Japan: "School Days" ● George Duke - keyboards ● Denzil Miller - keyboards ● Edwin Martinez - guitar ● Stanley Clarke - bass ● Gordon Peeks - drums
Thank you! !! I was looking for this. The live of the day was handed down later. Certainly, in front of this song, all the electrical systems went down due to PA trouble. The drummer was solo all the time. It was the moment when the whole venue was fm in an unusual atmosphere. Then this performance. I was thrilled to hear that it was broadcast live on FM HNK. From japan.
George Having problems with his Clavitar Keytar at 8:38 But comes back and still rock the show, and at 11:46 he's pissed at the keytar calling it a peace of ______! But still rock the show!
Victor Bailey, Alphonso Johnson, Jaco Pastorius (born in Norristown, a Philly suburb, but obviously raised in FL), Stanley Clarke, Jimmy Garrison (born in Miami, raised in Philly). All basically from Philly. Good call.
