After getting permission from my office I entered my mansion on that day. Radio Commentry was going on and there was a pin drop silence among my friends. When I asked the score no one answered. Again I asked. Only one replied. India is going to loose to Zimbabwe. I was shocked. He told the score was around 30 for 5.I asked whether Kapil is still there and one replied mm.. He's there. Immediately I told India would win. No body believed it. In fact they were in a mood to stop the commentary. But I sat and heard it. Kapil slowly consolidated and changed gears and everyone returned and enjoyed the innings of life. This win was the turning point and eventually India won the Prudential world Cup against all odds ✌

Kapil dev means an allrounder. Challenging player. His contributions, his game and his tremendous performances to the country is just unforgettable. I still rememering Cheeka Sir, used to say often, "yaar yeh kaisa pagal aadmi hai yaar? "😂😂😂 the way of his dialogue KAISAPPAAGAL...... 😂😂😂
I never saw that match as I was born in 82, but when I saw the close to real movie "83", I cried when he made 175 and at other moments too..great team with a great captain!
You see Kapil’s reactions and expressions on this video, and you recollect how Ranveer played him in 83, and you’ll say “Ranveer nailed that role”. And then Ranveer turns to his playful side now as seen in this video. Ranveer is an incredible actor.

But situation 9 for 4 when kapil ji came to bat & immediately 17 for 5. Just unbelievable 175*and lifted the cup for first time defeating mighty west Indies who never last single match in first 2 WC & last just two natches to India first match & final All will agree if I say in all WC till now mighty west indies is best team & ohhh we diffended lowest total in all WC till now
Each of us remembers that match and what we were doing. It is etched in our memory. I was in school, but had gone to my native village for summer vacation. Unfortunately, I was not in a big city at that time and we did not have a TV set (later learnt that it was never televised), so listened on a short-wave radio (remember those?). It was night. So heard to get the frequency just right and by the time I could get the connection we were already 17 for 5. It was getting late in my village. We did not have power, everything was dark, I just gave up and just went to sleep along with everyone. Before that match, I had never seen India come back like this before, so no point in staying up. Got up in the middle of the night and just checked the score again. Kapil was approaching 100 and I could not keep the radio down. Never again in the world cup did I miss a single moment of an India match. The other one etched in memory is the last test match in 1981, with the infamous Sunil Gavaskar walk-out. We were in bad shape and Australia had to make 143 in the last innings to win with ample time. Kapil was injured and could not bowl at the start of the innings. Next day, he took a pain-killing injection and led India to a great win with an unreal 28-5 wickets with Austalia all out for 83. He could win the bat, he could win the ball, and he could win while fielding (remember Viv Richard's catch in the 1983 final!). He gave it his all, led by example, made the team believe in themselves and turned around India's stature in Cricket.

Gavaskar has insulted the game of cricket by playing with reverse bat( upside down). He should keep himself away form cricket. When he was playing he played for his own record. Slowest batsman. Now appearing in media only for the sake of money.
