I wanted to make sure I cover EVERYTHING in this... even if you already know the move, feel free to skip to the performance tips section, it is important to be able to do this move with people surrounding you, not just in front of a camera! The full table of contents is in the description! Oh and thank you so much for continuing to support us guys... our recent growth allows us to partner with bigger companies outside of magic for awesome new sponsorships like Skillshare! You can use our link for two free months: skl.sh/risemagic (Sponsorship like this help keep the lights on at Rise Magic BUT Skillshare is actually really cool if you look into it, so we were HYPE to partner with them!)
Hey chandler I was playing Fortnite with pvzgw and you joined I friended you then you accepted but then I checked yesterday and you I un friended me sooooooooo My user is CipherSixer Yt
I'm learning the classic pass and have watched a few tutorials. This is by far the best tutorial on the classic pass that I've encountered. Helped me a lot, thanks!
I literally just came across this video as I was looking for something to help me with my classic pass. I have been subscribed to Rise for a bit, but always ended up watching cardistry videos. I have been trying to get this pass for about two months, and this video is AWESOME!!. My pass is better after only about 10 minutes. Thank you so much! I know it's been a year since you posted, but great tutorial and troubleshooting.
As I'm sure it's been stated before, great tutorial! I've watched way too many tutorials on this and never felt confident on what I was doing. For instance no one else said a single word about pushing the bottom pack against the thumb. That little move is giving me the clearance to rotate the top pack down. My left hand has been injured, even though everything works, great dexterity I lack. I'm working on ' loosing things up' by doing card effects. Your little gimmick of splaying the deck to cover the gap is exactly what I needed. I know this video is 2 yrs old and I'm not even sure you'll read this, but thank you for sharing your skills.
This is the best tutorial video I've found for this. I've watched 3 so far and none of them really helped as I saw the performance from the spectators perspective. Seeing from what I would see and the few things you emphasized really hit home for me. I appreciate it. I started cardistry and magic 2 days ago and so far I am hooked. I'm looking forward to advancing down this hobby.
Nice tutorial dude. Can’t wait until the Rise Magic cards drop. I’ve been working on my cardistry moves, so that I can make an epic video using the Rise Magic cards!!
Man I love the way you broke it down. I been trying to find videos on what you have to focus on WHILE doing the pass and street view is genius. Not enough videos out on the simple stuff. Big fan.
ok.. here comes a huge compliment.. i have been doing this pass for years.. i'm an old guy. lets say.. 30ish years that i have been doing this pass or the cover pass. other magicians and burners have caught me several times. in short, i sucked at doing this pass. i only did a few card tricks so i got away with mainly doing the hindu shuffle and the herman cover pass. that is, until i watched this video. pushing the bottom against the thumb and using it as leverage is the key. i don't know why but i never was taught that and i never thought of doing it myself. so you can probably imagine how much my fingers moved. i mean it was abyssimal. i live on the west coast and i'm pretty sure someone in NY could see me flash my pass from here. Also, thanks for not showing off so much. showing off is good, but not during a tut. seriously brotha, i'm pretty sure you just saved me from myself.. lol.
Very in depth tutorial covers pretty much everything about the pass thank you so much for explaining things very thorough and putting thought into your videos 😀
Practicing like you do in the end is a great way of meditate/ relax when watching tv or listen to audiobook etc. Great vid, well explained and a bunch of good tips for those who knows it.
You will never be just "another dude on your screen" to me or a lot of other people. Thanks for all the effort you put into this endeavor. Stay safe, Tom OB
Card in the middle - pass Card to top - riffle shuffle Card still on top. Card in the middle - riffle shuffle Card to top I personaly dont like to execute a Pass and shuffle afterwards one time. Makes the pass to be a move which is not necessary. But still very nice video and usefull tips. Love to do the pass ;) Thx a lot.
Chandler, you are such an inspiration to me and many others, I’m sure. I love all of your videos and if you ever have a show or a meet and greet, I really would want to be there to support you and learn some good stuff.
Cool vid as usual.... im still waiting for that rise playing cards..... this is actually secretly a tutorial.... so keep making videos cause i love them
you're a saint, a true white knight. I've been trying for a couple months to get this looking even slightly proper. Mine looked convincing enough as long as I used a cover move immediately after. You're pass looks great. Thanks home skillet
Good tips Chandler, it's an excellent idea to go right into the pass straight away and not wait. I published a vid called, the classic pass, it's not a flourish. Lol. Great advice my friend.
One thing also to note about doing the pass, whether it’s the xlassjc or herman pass, is after you’ve done it you should not be suspicious or nervous. Because if you keep eye contact and have a somewhat decent pass, people don’t knkw you’ve done it. Don’t run if you’re not being chased, act cool about it! And, even if people do notice, the rest of the trick should be good enough for them to not be able to figure the whole trick out. Just because they know a tiny bit of tvs secret, doesn’t mean they know the whole trick or routine. When starting our, do it in low risk performances where it doesn’t matter if you’re caught, and if you’re fully confident, just do a different control. I’ve been doing magic for 7 years and I still find that double undercutting a card to the the top or bottom is still able to fool people. The pass is definitely the best way to control a card, but it ford gets mean that it’s the only way to control a card.
I apologise for the terrible spelling lol, I’ve got really bad eyesight so I can’t see what I’m typing unless I strain my eyes. Thats why my icon is a blue eye and VI stands for visually impaired
I think the most important aspect to the Pass is confidence, Don’t think about it too much, Don’t worry, just go for it. I don’t even try to achieve speed but there are times the pass is done before I even realize it, Especially the “Herman” Pass.
I learned the pass one and half year ago, I've been never caught doing it for lay people, just do it without thinking about it,and for beginners add some big motion cover's small motin and you're ready to go.
Dude, that's a lovely pass. If you get chance check out Alex Pandrea's guide to the Ultimate Pass, it's well worth the money though it's a complete re-write of your muscle memory.
I am just starting out. This is the best tutorial/explanation I have seen. However, his hands look so bog. I'm worried part of my struggle is just working to overcome small hands...
Dude!! Are you getting younger. You're like Benjamin Button.. I hope your health is better brother. Hope Grant is doing better too. Thank you for this video, i like the Herman pass, cause it's easier for me. But i really want to get better at the classic pass. God bless you brother... P.S. stop messing around, let's see the Rise Deck😉😄😄😄
Hello Rise Magic! Great video. When I saw "in depth" about the pass, that's when I knew I had to watch! :) I like your method of executing it immediately when close the cards up. What do you do about your left hand pointer finger? I find that mine flares out sometimes while doing the move.... do you think it's worth focusing on minimizing this, or it's not important? Also, what about if you see kinda of a flinching movement with either left hand or right hand? Big deal? Or just use more talking / eye contact / misdirection?
What do you think about using your ring finger for the break and keeping the pinky on the top. I feel like I have way better control of the top packet when doing the move. Or will the control get better with more practice?
The classic pass tutorial is great and very very explanatory. I have been practising it since I watched the video, but when I tried the colour change trick, there is a big flapping notice. This novice tells the spectators that card has been flipped. How to reduce or avoid the sound. Please explain.
I loved the tutorial. With my pass, I don't get into the break directly and use the 3 fingers on the side to push over some cards and then I get the break. Well those are my thoughts, what do you think?
That's a really nice deck.. Off topic, have you looked into doing side work with Calm.com? You have a very calming voice, i think I've told you before...
11:30 You have wasted the Pass when you did the riffle shuffle. You can just cut at the break and do a riffle shuffle to bring the card to top. Or, just do a pass with misdirection so they still think the card is in the middle of the deck. This is not a negative comment, but to tell you something that you might not think of.
If you’re going to follow it up with a riffle shuffle, why use the pass at all? You can control it to the top using a false shuffle (Hindu, overhand, etc). The beauty of the pass is that the spectator believes it’s where he put the card in the middle, not shuffled and potentially somewhere else
are you sure the tallys on amazon are from a good supplier? I went to buy them the other day and read a few comments saying they were clumpy and seemed fake. I ended up buying off of theory11 to be safe. Have you bought from amazon?
