You could yes! Although if you use the same size of hook, which is way bigger than a hook you’d use for a weight 4 yarn, it will make larger gaps so it won’t look as densely and tightly crocheted as the one I made. However you could use a weight 4 and the appropriate hook size and then just make more stitches when you’re making your panels! So chain to a width that is the size you desire to make.
