That said, the Clips aren't getting Tucker without losing Covington. LA seems like the last stop for Batum, since he'll be retiring. He might still have something left, but that would be wasted on a trade. Meanwhile Covington has value other than just salary matching. Also, both the 76ers and Pacers don't get what they're looking for here. Brogdon is injury prone and Hield has never been in the playoffs. The 76ers asking price is high, and that package won't cut it, especially while sacrificing frontcourt depth. Springer has upside, but really doesn't move the needle, nor do second round picks. Hield, despite not ever playing in the playoffs, has some trade value around the league, and they'd want more.

A good adjustment to this trade would be to sweeten it just a bit for Philly and Indy. The 76ers would get Covington and give up Melton instead of Springer. With two high-minute incoming guards on this trade, Melton would be a bit expendable, they'd also have Pat Bev who signed in free agency, and Maxey will be looking for heavy minutes as well. Meanwhile Covington replaces some of what Tucker brings, and a little team + player reunion. Throw in an extra Clippers 1st round pick swap, and the 76ers likely take that deal. The Pacers could get De'Anthony Melton in the deal, in exchange for the negative trade value of Daniel Theis. Theis' contract has a team option next season, so the Blazers could just absorb that salary and potentially buy him out. Melton would add versatile guard depth with a low salary commitment, and he could be easily flipped later on. He brings win-now skills to a Pacers team that doesn't need a young guard who needs development like Springer. Adjusted trade: Clippers get - Harden + Tucker 76ers get - Brogdon, Hield, and Covington + 2030 Clippers FRP and 2029 Clippers FRP swap Pacers get - Powell + Melton + 2 Clippers SRP Blazers - Morris + Theis + 2028 Clippers FRP
