@@billsteven5941 yup, makeshift shells can be packed with double material, it can crit someone if you hit the head pretty easily, but theres a good chance you blow yourself up with it, so its a tradeoff, like how TG made explosive spears need to be meleed to set off, making it a suicide weapon instead

The answer is easy. Grab a chair/toolbox, search an art or engi machine, the sell cable, buy one make 2 cable ties. Destroy your nearest window with tve toolbox chair. And there it is, enough material for not 1, but 2 spears. Its cheap and easy damage by no resources either way

Do, remember, damage to the station are neglectable when the situacion is out of control or mayor problems (like nukies or wizards) are around. I prefer chainsaws do.

@@snootgamenotofficial you can make glass shards directly from glass sheets btw, also the real reason its always spears isnt how cheap they are, its how fucking unbalanced they are, they do 18 damage per hit, extra when thrown, and have a high chance of embed which causes wounds which are near impossible to fix without surgery that are effectively a gurenteed slow kill for an antag who cant steal their way into a surgery, only way wiz could counter that is with a healing staff or wand as those aheal you and can even bring the dead back to life. spears have always been blatantly broken but coders never seem to care to fix it, in fact they ADDED spears doing major wounding which was a total buff for a weapon that is objectively overpowered

But again, if you compare it to other weapons the population can use you have 2 tiers : Not big deal: Tiles Toolboxes Welding Tools Chair Baseball bat And "complicated" to make: Improv Shotguns Green Chainsaw And Pneumatic Cannon The spear is just the perfect balance between accesible (No lathe needed) and harmfull enough. I believe its not powergaming reasons, but just accessible option to beat someone to death I do usually prefer Improv Shotguns with Explosive Chem Darts or Green Chainsaw and meth mannitol. Takes more time but the difference is noticeable. But I think people use spears because easy first and powerfull second
