The montage at the end with your brother is literally me trying to co-op anything with my brother or mates... constantly shooting each other "by accident" xD

Yeah, screwing around in co-op games is super fun. I just wish Decay wasn't so punishing if you make simple mistakes, then our constant "accidents" would be more acceptable.

6:30 The AI for the PS2 version is way better than the pc version. Not only it can shoot better, but it also can look around which will make them aim good, while the pc version can only look to one direction and can't look up nor down which make the AI for pc handle the enemies harder. Well, a mod called "Half-Life Source Anthology" is in the work and aim to make all goldsrc HL games into source engine with impovements, Decay will get an AI-controlled in it. Oh, and one more thing, I played Decay's missions on solo so many times and never encounter any of these bugs, maybe just for online.

I never played Decay because: A) None of my friends wanted to play it with me. and B) I have no friends.

I played Decay solo, and I loved every second of it. It's a fascinating piece of the series' history that I'd love to see get more attention. It has a lot of fun tie-ins to Half-Life 1 and Half-Life: Blue Shift and a reference to Half-Life's demo, Uplink, and the 2 protagonists are some of my personal favorite characters in the series. The gameplay does suffer at times due to the limitations of porting it to PC and playing solo, but it was still playable, and I still had a good experience overall.

2:36 This is a common misconception. In fact, Barney is returning to Black Mesa from Xen at the end of "Focal Point". You can tell because of Rosenberg's line: "Calhoun, you must hurry! We can't keep the portal open much longer!"

Why the fuck is RU-vid's cover art image for Half-Life: Decay just a picture of Dr. Keller with a white background? And why am I crying from laughter after learning that? Beyond that, Good luck with the Half-Life 2 retrospective. I think it'd be worth discussing the leaked 2003 beta build and perhaps also Half-Life 2: MMod in some form. Beta's an important piece of history and MMod is just really damn good. See you in the HL2 video.

I guess when you have a game that never got an official standalone release, you have to use whatever you can for cover art? I'm definitely gonna talk about the HL2 beta, specifically in context with the game's overall development. I probably won't go too far in describing the beta's content, because I could (and will at some point) do a whole video on that. I also plan to mention prolific HL2 mods, and certainly MMod is on that list!

i played decay with a friend who likes half life too (not as much as me) and we had a fair share of glitches too. he was woeing and asking when it's going to end. lol spoiler alert gina dies. you can find her corpse in opposing force , just right-click in the pit-worm level and swim towards the portal

Matt was trying to figure out if Moto Moto and Gloria were hungry hippos Also Cloud, you stated that the Half Life engine works against an enjoyable co op experience, but the highlight montage gave me the opposite impression

Keep in mind that's 5 minutes cut from a 3-hour play session. What you don't see is us restarting a level from the beginning each time one of us dies and having to redo everything multiple times

@@CloudConnection I definitely believe it. I guess I mostly just wanted to poke fun at the fact that you two were very entertaining. Goldsrc games feel broken even when they're working correctly, haha. It was an awesome video man, I was having trouble finding ones to watch about Decay. Thanks for responding! I never had a problem with the Hd pack cos I only grew up with the ps2 version of the game so did t know any better

In fact that the bot in the ps2 version when it self defense it has aimbot and in the pc port their aim defense IS SO BAD

I stg the co-op would be been easily and vastly improved if they simply didn't force BOTH players to restart the entire mission after a single player died

Strange to review a game based on a mod based on the game. This isn't so much a review of Half Life Decay but a review of someone's fan recreation of Half Life Decay.

The mod is a conversion of the PlayStation 2 game's files. Levels and assets were copied over directly from the source material. So it's not a recreation per se, it's a straight up port.

Ah. Fair enough. I wonder if there would be any difference between this and just straight up emulation on PC. I didn't recall the ai having troubles but then again I haven't played it in like... twenty years.
