That one-two punch of Superman and Wicked Cyclone makes me (a Darien Lake resident) very jealous

It doesn’t surprise me at all that Superman is number one across the board. It is, in my opinion, a nearly perfect coaster. It was also nice to see Batman getting some love for its custom layout; I’ve always thought it’s an underrated little gem.

Huh, I had no idea there was a ever a coaster themed to Poison Ivy. Wish they kept the name, even if it's a mediocre ride, always wanted there to be more than a flat ride or two for my favorite DC character.

Excellent video! Superman is the perfect steel coaster. SFNE is a beautiful park with some wonderful rides! Thank you for including the Cyclone! It was my favorite wooden coaster for years! If it’s possible to find a video from 2000, before the 1st drop reprofile, I think it would greatly improve pacing and speed. It was an insane beast! I know you love Wicked Cyclone. Come on over to Hershey and ride a new #1 RMC ❤

Six Flags NE is one of the best six flags parks out there. In fact its one of my home parks.

Wicked Cyclone pre 2021 is pretty good, but since 2021 it's been on another level! I have it in my top 3 behind El Toro and Iron Gwazi

I’ve went there last summer and I’m planning to go end of July!

Getting on the superman will cost you half your day at the park. Every time .

I remember a couple summers ago I took my buddy who isn’t the biggest fan of roller coasters to Six Flags New England, we were some of the first to arrive at the park that morning cause the lines were shorter. We went straight for the Superman, and while we were on it, my friend passed out, like one second I’m sitting next to him and he’s yelling just like everyone else, then he’s just flopping around like a fish. He doesn’t remember passing out either which makes sense but still. I had never seen anybody pass out on a ride before but safe to say, he didn’t ride any more rides until we went on the river rapids

I still can’t believe a coaster like Superman is at a park like SFNE. That ride is maybe the biggest showing of late 90s/early 2000s Six Flags’ ability to spend money faster than they could light it on fire

Yep! That's an ollllllldddddddddd park with a lot of history. Mr. Cobb designed Texas Cyclone. He designed Riverside Cyclone while he was in the hospital. Not much land to work with. One of the reasons the hills are so shallow. Great video!

great video, brought back a lot of memories :) went a bunch of times as a kid for the JDRF walk, which always meant a full day of running around with my friends riding all the coasters as many times as possible. After a few visits though, the general consensus was that batman and superman were the only ones worth doing more than once in a visit, and since the wait times for superman (or bizarro after the first few times we were there) were so long, it usually meant a lot of batman. Still, when they first let us in when the gates opened in the morning, we would literally try to race everybody else coming in to get to superman at the far side of the park, lol. it really does blow everything else out of the water

So many of these coasters come close to clean sweeps and it is so unsatisfying when they miss by one category!

I was at Six Flags New England on Memorial Day. My favorite coaster in this park is Superman I enjoy in more than the one at Six Flags Great Adventure. My second favorite is Twisted Cyclone. I had no idea Thunder Bolt was originally at the NY Worlds Fair. Thank you for that added fact.

Ahhhh my home park! So much good and so much not so good in the park, it PAINS me to have only 3 original coasters with unique layouts. But like you said, combo of WC and Superman is pretty elite! Now to just add new Intamin trains to Superman… 🤔🤔🤔

Calling SFNE a "small park" seems strange to a New Englander since it feels like the 300-pound gorilla of the region--though in land area it's actually smaller than Lake Compounce. Biggest surprise is probably that Catwoman's Whip, excuse me, Catwoman(TM) Whip is solidly in the middle of the pack for prime ride time and gives you a longer true ride than Batman or Riddler Revenge. I first rode Wicked Cyclone in 2021 and for me, it was hauling through the whole layout. But this is still controversial. The coaster is a masterpiece though. I rate it above Superman but only by a hair--I think Superman is now actually an underrated coaster among enthusiasts (albeit beloved by the GP), and also one of the best ones I've ridden. The perhaps suboptimal restraints are compensated for by the way its layout keeps delivering new surprises and thrills right up to the abrupt final brakes. Many hypers peter out at the end; this one doesn't.

As a little boy I spent my Friday nights at riverside. My dad was on a pit crew for a race car and they raced there many times. Only been a couple time since it became 6 Flags.

This was the park I grew up going to as I lived around 15 minutes from it. I have so many great memories here and it is such a beautiful backdrop for a park. Superman’s views of the Connecticut river are to die for. The fact that you can see the park from the highway in Springfield ensures you get excited on your drive to it. I loved going to concerts too when they had them down at the stage by the river’s edge! I saw Lady Gaga there in 2009!

Totally right...a little unexpected that supe was so far ahead (I was a little worried about gauntlet taking #1 for a while 😰), but it's not really surprising once you think about it... it's just so much bigger than everything else

Video idea- most iconic rollercoaster noises- For me it'd be the top of the lift on vekoma SLC's, dragster old hydraulic motor, arrow chain lift, corkscrew rattle at CP and the roar from older B&M installs.

Hate to criticise, but there were 2 versions of Cyclone. You used the latest version. Th first version of Cyclone actually had a bigger drop, and a modified turn around off the drop. It was modified in about 2002 to make the coaster less rough and actually slower. You can contact Canobie coaster as I believe that the first version would have had better pacing as it had a top speed of about 53 mph from what I remember from the old advertisements.

I've loved this park being my "home away from home" park while living in CT, but it is definitely negelected. Not on the level of SF America but definitely rough around the edges. The top two could keep me coming back forever though, WC and Superman are both world class and possibly two of the best coasters ever built! 🤘

My only visit came in 2019, and both Wicked Cyclone & Superman were running amazing! I heard that both had work done to help them run faster. If Wicked Cyclone is even better since 2021, then I have got to get back there! Definitely a contender for the best 1-2 punch in the country, if it's not the best. For me, Kings Dominion may edge it out.

Went in 2019, was an enjoyable day. Did everything except Joker because the line was too long for my liking.

I know im late to the party, but a fun fact for you. That wild mouse was originally planned to be in new england, themed the same as the one in six flags great America. However the plan to build the façade and queue/theming fell through with the county, so they sent it to Georgia instead!

This is my home park. It is charming but definitely needs some attention in the coaster department. Literally all of them aside from Wicked Cyclone and Pandemonium are jarring rough head rattlers - sadly even Superman and Batman have become rougher than they should be. Thunderbolt, Flashback, Riddler are basically unrideable for me now. Praying for a new dive or launch coaster in the near future

Just got to the park last week for the first time. Superman is elite (except for the restraints, of course)… Wicked Cyclone is well… Wicked! I really really enjoyed Six Flags New England.

Just rode Skyrush today, the restraints are not that bad, it just hurts when the ride is over

Pandemonium has been running fast this year, I actually got air time after the drop on the final brake run. Pro tip, visit Six flags on a warm day in April or may. They still have the cold weather wheels on the trains, and that makes all of the trains fly! Seriously, I went on opening day when in unexpectedly got to 80 degrees and they were ripping down the track! Wicked cyclones airtime was so violent I had a bruise on my thigh from the lap bar for 2 weeks! Going again in the morning, wish me luck!

Did Flashback used to be Vampire at Kentucky Kingdom? If so, I rode it a bunch of times as a kid. You could pay one price during the State Fair and ride all the fair rides, plus have full access to Kentucky Kingdom.

Am I to understand that Catwoman’s Whip has a double figure eight layout and it comes in 8th in length? God must be real or something. 🤣 but I kid, I love this series. Coming at you from Kings Island for my very 1st time too! I’m here all day every day yesterday (June 6th) through June 9th then flying back home Saturday. I just confirmed that you were right: Diamondback is such a good coaster it is now my 3rd favourite coaster after Fury 325 and Steel Vengeance. May Reality bless you too; reality beats “god” to a pulp every time. Example; One might ask “Who needs coasters anyway when you have god?” That a good question. My answer to that question is this: “Why then are you here at an amusement park if god is your lord and thrill master? I get thills here too but loving thrills isn’t proof of a god. These kids get free passes to ride coasters at a great amusement park just for being enrolled at Christian fun dummy schools. In other words: for simply being in a school that brainwashes children that had no consent in being miseducated: these religious fundamentalists, (or what I prefer to call Christian fun-dummies) are given free entry into an amusement park just for being idiotic and gullible. I realize other high school kids get field trips to these parks too, but in all fairness; considering everyone else has to pay $ for the offence of not being a gullible young teenager born and raised to be a Christian fundamentalist you and I ought to have those perks too, no? But I digress; At least I’m having a good time here after my 1st day at Kings Island, and I still have three more, all from 10am to 10pm Thanks again for this series; Superman at SFNE is one of my top bucket list coasters. Sorry for rambling. ☺️

Looking just at the coaster line up I’m kind of surprised that I liked this park as much as I did when I visited.

Has any other coaster swept every category by landslide margins like Superman did? I'm not surprised, but it's still impressive because of how hard it is to design a coaster that is so well rounded.

More than half this park is DC themed rides, it should be called DC New England. Video idea suggestion: pin DC characters vs villains like the comics (The Dark Knight SFNE vs The Joker SFDK)

With the help of google maps and the pythagoream theorum. Id actually like to commend you for doing all that maths. I know its fairly simple sespecially with a calculator but there is probably quite a lot of it given the number of coasters youve covered over the years.

You need to ride arie force one. It is amazing and for me a top tier RMC. I rode it Saturday in 90 degree weather and it was fast. It is in my top 3 with Steel Vengeance and Lightning Rod.

Let’s be honest six flags really saved 2 coasters from Kentucky kingdom, the other being chang which was sent to great adventure, now known as green lantern

Couple of comments. Your numbers are missing some key elements to rating roller coaster. First is the "thrill" factor. Thunderbolt is not a fast coaster. but it more than makes up for it with the sensation of speed. It's pretty quick through the corners, and it beats the snot out of you, unlike any metal coaster! But in a good way. Being a true wooden coaster, with old style bench seats and only a knee bar holding you in, it takes your breath away. Probably #2 or #3 on the list, battling with Riddler's Revenge (Mindbender was a better name). That roll in the first drop is a great way to put this on such a small footprint. As fantastic a ride as Superman is, you missed one of the best features of the ride: The view. Up 200 feet in the air, the Connecticut River valley unfolds before you. At the top of the giant drop you can see all the way to the Hartford skyline. TWENTY MILES AWAY. The sensation of height is exponential compared to other coasters. Also, it's position adjacent to the river creates another sensation with the breeze coming off the water. The air is almost never still, so it amplifies the "wind in your face" affect. One of the best descriptions of the fun-factor of Superman is that when you get off you know why dogs love to stick their heads out the car window. On the highway going 77 mph!!

I'm guessing many of us aren't very familiar with ft/s and m/s. They could probably be easily converted into m/h and km/h using some tool on google.
