I worked as an extra several time for On Location Casting, and still feeling excited. I will be the first in line at the theater here in Memphis Tennessee on Christmas Day to see the Color Purple. It would have been awesome if only the producers film one scene here in Memphis Tennessee. ALREADY Love it.....................

I am an old black man name Bubby. I think people should boycott the color purple this December. No one should go into that theater and pay their money for this movie until Oprah apologizes to Monique. Monique absolutely did nothing wrong.I love Oprah and was a huge fan of the Oprah Winfrey Show. This past situation, was one of a rich person becoming toxic because someone told her “no” Anyone with a conscience shouldn’t support this abuse of power. We should take a day for mental health awareness and support mental health for people of color. And not attend this movie until Ms. Winfrey apologizes for her disrespect and despicable behavior.

Awesome talent in this but I am so sick of Hollywood rehashing and remaking classics with new faces I'll avoid seeing it. I cant even sit through the original as an adult now having seen it so much growing up. Have they never read Octavia E. Butler's books? She's a phenomenal black sci-fi author and her stories transcend space and time. But that would be too progressive as Hollywood seems to aim to remain regressive and limited when it comes to black storytelling.

Bc sometimes it just be that way. And I’m happy to see an older generation and the new come together. I wish they put this much effort into promo behind black movies that are sci, fantasy, horror movies with black cast but when its a movie about slavery, poverty, the hood, gangs all the major black celeb promote it... ie precious, 12 years a slave, the butler,this movie. BLACK HOLLYWOOD NEED TO CHANGE give us a hunger games, a twilight a house of dragons with a majority black cast. Im tired of these opression stories.
