The Color Purple post screening Q&A with Director BLITZ BAZAWULE, Producers OPRAH WINFREY & SCOTT SANDERS, and Actors TARAJI P HENSON & DANIELLE BROOKS.
HU - U KNOW!! Howard - Taraji graduated from Howard University an HBCU. Someone in the audience knew and started our chant (HU - U KNOW) when she was about to take her seat. She picked up on the call and response signal to her, so with a hearty YOU KNOW she completed the chant. Looove Taraji! Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) had the same thing happen to him at an awards show. He also didn't miss a beat and completed the chant.
Also 1 doctor 1 lawyer and 1 MBA, they are! Oprah was commencement speaker at my doctor daughter's graduation! Awesome speaker! I cried! Thank you Lord, for Howard University and Taraji P Henson, VP Kamala Harris, Thurgood Marshall, Phylicia Rashad,Debbie Allen, Chadwick Boseman, the list goes on! Excellence in Higher Education!💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Hollywood has nothing to offer, if she wants to quit? that’s a huge blessing on her life, she will find peace don’t think so shallow especially when you know the industry is evil
She just comes across as ghetto and ungrateful. She needs to quit complaining. She probably makes more in a year than you do in 10. Don’t feel sorry for her. She’s whining about getting hundreds of thousands of dollars or more when the overwhelming majority of actors are lucky to get $50k for a project. Ain’t nobody studying those crocodile tears.
Give the Lord some more praise and Worship time TraiJi. Sing unto the Lord a New 🎵 Song. He knows how to bring you forth as pure gold. Sing unto the Lord Traji😊❤ 🕊 🙏🏽 He knows how to bottle up those tears. "YOU ARE SO LOVED."I love you and I'm praying for favor and a Powerful overflow of His anointing upon you life 🙏🏽🎉
Thank you! I'm here for Queen, Taraji! I saw a clip of her & Fantasia at the top of the Empire State Bldg where O literally seems to blow Taraji off and she looks like she's holding back tears. 👑❤️💯
You can tell Taraiji is going thru alot right now. I really hope she has a lot of support around her right now while going thru such an emotional time ❤
@@rayray094life it’s all an act but doesn’t take away from the reality that she’s owed NOTHING and too there’s no guarantee she’ll get high pay for every role and she knows this …🙄
@@jyoungspins2200 that’s not the point. The point is she has always had to receive lower pay than everyone whether it was a black man or a white man or a white female. Hollywood will make you feel like you ain’t worth shit as a darker skinned black woman. I’m not talking about light skinned, mixed females. They also get praised in the industry, even if it’s just for their looks or to be fetishized.
@@rayray094life it’s acting … she’s not a lawyer… educator … someone with an advanced degree who’s not being paid fairly she’s merely acting .. not shifting the world. Did you know on empire she was paid above scale? Taraji is not telling the truth .. the whole truth. She wants millions per role but isn’t an A list actor regardless of how much she’s done over the years…
Thank You and I wish the black men of the black community would say this to us and actually mean it too! AMEN! I'm exhausted because I just want the simple things in life and it seems so unattainable! AMEN! Where is the love? The best things in life are free! Note:Erykah Badu Love is the only way you'll thrive and be happy and whole! AMEN! Black women this is our reality!
Me 2! 🥺 It may not be ur truth but somebody endured what u did not have 2......(now, let that sink in). Denying the truth won't stop it from being told!
The color purple still exists! I've been harassed, exploited, mistreated, and other things by my in general however especially from black men! The truth needs to be told about black men and women relationship dynamics! Stop caping for men that say your not enough, your not their type, your the help! No more make believe! AMEN!
The Movie 🎥 Going To Be Good 👍!! But!! Are Taraji Going To Get Paid!! Her Share Fair Of Her Millions Like The Other Actor's And Actresses Are Going To Get From That Movie 🎥 The Color Purple 🟣!! They Might Get Cheated Out Of Thier Pay As Well.. Who Knows!! What Goes On Behind Back Stage Sit Downs 💸💸.
Did Taraji just preach? I never knew she is thus spiritual . You gotta protect your energy and safety . She said some deep stuff that if you know , you knew . You got to know you safe in s as my role you play as actors and actresses . Healing is here now we can just believe that now . Bravo ! Taraji P . Henson . Love u girl ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Girl Taraiji P. Is … everything. She is so incredibly talented. We Love her on the screen ❤❤❤ If she’s casting in a movie 🍿 get your pop corn because it’s fixed to be a good movie.
Taraji gave me chills!! This Sister is deep you hear me!! I loved her take. And Danielle, come on with the brilliance! I can't wait to see this reimagined. 💜💜💜💜💜
As a fan of the color purple I can remember coming home from school ,doing my homework, and after I was finished I would literally sit in the living room with my sister and our babysitter as we would watch the original movie ( on video tape) everyday and loving the performances and the music so much and now I can't wait to see the remake and literally go on this emotional journey
Oprah is an absolutely amazing human being! Being sexually abused from 9 yrs old to 14 was where she started and now she is one of the most powerful women in the world! AND she’s one of us!!! Truly an example of nothing is impossible to them that Believe!!!
When I know that Taraji is in a movie or TV show I am on it like white on rice. I adore this woman and I would probably cry if she were not acting anymore. So continue your great work and projects that make you feel something Miss Taraji I love you so much❤❤
Yeah that speaks volumes to where she is in her life. There is more to her message than, Being Paid equally for your Craft. It's time for so called Black People in this Country to Take Total responsibility and Control over their Destiny,. The Masses of our people are homeless because they don't make enough money to afford The high rent and can barely afford to buy groceries to feed themselves and their children. We are simply sleep walking through our tribulations.
WOW ! Oprah, the FIRST Color Purple movie had 11 OSCAR nominations !..and did not win ONE; but this time will be different. The Color Purple movie will receive SEVERAL OSCARS this time. OH YES, YES, OPRAH, CAST AND CREW. BE READY. #LetsCELEBRATE🎉🎉 #LetsPRAISE_GODfor ThisMasterpieceWORK. 👍💜🙏
@Bridge3 Will this remake win because it is worthy or because it was ignored in 1985 ? Will it win because Academy has glaringly not had any AfricaNAmerican nominees or winners year after year.
It was a blessing to hear Taraji responding to the HU, “You Know” chant. I have a daughter who attends Howard University currently. She has taken ownership of the HU chant as well, and I love it. We have to appreciate Black Excellence!🙏🏽
ELEVEN NOMINATIONS & not ONE WIN!!! That movie was so very much deserving!!! They ALL, from the movie, Broadway and to this…are all amazing. Even without a statue acknowledging their God-given talents!!! Continued blessings to all of them. ❤ 🙏🏽
After watching Queen Taraji speak about her and others not being paid correctly in Hollywood broke my heart. Please play our actors Hollywood, play us the millions we deserve, pay us.
I have watched every time I have seen the cast of The Color Purple on television. I laugh, cry and see the inspiration they can be to so many people. They make me proud!!
Love the comment "We are not down trodden," from Taraji P Henson. Yes! When I was 8 years old I told my Mother ," why are we singing we shall overcome? They need to overcome, not us ! That song got me depressed! At 8 years old!
I am beyond overwhelmed by this. Having loved the book and then the film (my favourite film of all time) and then to witness the Broadway musical three times with Cynthia Erivo as Celie (just life changing!) and Jennifer, Heather and Jennifer as Shug A. And now this musical film on Christmas Day……..there is a god, and I’m Here! I am beyond overwhelmed to experience this on Christmas Day. What a gift!
I also read the book, saw the original play, then the Broadway play with the same actresses as you. I can't wait to see the musical on the big screen, early premiere on December 17, my birthday!!!
Mrs. Daniel Brooks, keep shining, for GOD is in this and just sit back see GOD at WORK in your Favor..🙏🏿🙌🏽🙌🏻🙌✨️. GOD is bigger than all these people who think they're the big deal.
Taragi we as fans NEED your voice! Please don't let them take it away. You are amazing, powerful, beautiful, brave, wonderful Singer And one of the best actresses of the world!! We love you 🩵💙💜
Taraji when I seen that color purplep and you you could sing girl you can act and you help people with a mental taraji you arrived don't back down from nobody nobody I love you Anita Jones from Paterson New Jersey
I’m a The Cole Purple movie fan for real. The Original was the best, although there were some depressing moments. This is going to be a great remake of the play💜 They took it from Broadway to the Big Screen 💜
I can't wait to see this depiction of the movie. I was introduced to the color purple at the age of 12. I quickly read the book at age 15 when I realized that's where the original story came from. I can't count the numerous times I've read it since then. I haven't been fortunate enough to see the stage play. Till this day, both book and movie are my all time #1's. When it FINALLY CAME OUT ON VHS, MY PARENTS BOUGHT THE MOVIE FOR ME AND I DROVE MY SIBLINGS CRAZY RACING HOME TO GET 1st DIBS ON THE TV (WHICH I WON MOST OF THE TIME BECAUSE I WAS A TRACK STAR AND NO ONE COULD OUT RUN ME LOL) AND WATCHED IT EVERYDAY UNTIL I MOVED AWAY FROM HOME. #ColorPurpleDieHard
I was like 7 and I remember moving here from fla, and my mom and aunt went and bought the original Color Purple and we watched it everyday after school we watched it so much our tape broke and they had to go get us another copy because we would not stop asking for it, we loved that movie me, and my siblings would always sing God's trying to tell you something! That was our favorite! I'm so grateful for this movie because we didn't see to many movies with ppl who looked like us and The color purple said no there's ppl in movies who look like you, and when I seen that as a lil black girl from the south it meant the world to us, this movie will forever be apart of my life and will hold a special place in my heart and childhood!!!
It's really good. Artistic. If you like to read check out, Covict Candy. One of the most well constructed stories ever. A lil racy SPICY. But it's a good read.
It's sad how any organization the serves Black people - will protest the truth about who has and what does go on in Black communities. There is a lot of love in our communities - and there is lot of harm. And like it or not - that harm is mostly coming from one group of people - who we are not allow to hold accountable. Black women and communities are constantly under attack and we are supposed to be silent it about it. It is no different than how white folks expect us to remain quiet about the harm, violence, destruction they have historically perpetrated and continue to perpetrate and benefit from.
I am so excited. I have already purchased my ticket for Christmas Day! Can't wait to see it. I love Taraji! From the trailer, Danielle is going to be hilarious!!!!!!
Any movies taraji is part of I'm watching,, I love her not only as an actor but her personality is everything. I put her up there in my list along Denzel Washington. No disrespect to any other actors. ❤
So glad my 🔺️ Sorors kicked off the Purple Carpet screening 💜 to see The Color Purple Reimagened. It was phenomenal!! I am going to see it again, & again, & again‼️❣️‼️
Thank you for expressing during your growing up you've seen the music industry as a dark place and it was summer you knew you didn't wanna be thank you for pointing that out because everybody thinks it's all roses but everybody wants to touch you kiss you sleep with you and tell you what to wear and how to sing how to sit so I'm glad you chose your way now take this movie be done with it and do whatever makes you happy TARAJI
Preach taraj I luv how she was picked nd ready to answer all the women are so beautiful amazing cast I luv all these lovely ladies ❤❤❤❤❤ can't wait to see this movie in 4 days 😊😊😊 nd taraji graduated from Harvard University Hu U know😊😊😊 taraji has been emotional every talk show interview luv u taraji so much
With the power/position both Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry have, you would think that this kind of thing would not be happening. I am proud of Taraji for speaking up on the matter and putting this out in the media.
I'm gonna be honest, all u really gotta do is get married. I know a lot of black women online bash marriage but ever since I got married I have double the household income I had before. I went from a 60k household to a 140k household (my husband has his own trucking business and his CDLs), paid off a house, own 2 vehicles cash, have a very nice Savings and were about to take a nice vacay for Christmas/New Year. This might not apply to Taraji but to the regular everyday working class bw in the comments saying they are facing something similar, get u a blue collar (or white collar!) man and combine your incomes!! 💯
My salary exceeds you and your husband’s and I will NEVER get married for financial reasons or advise another woman to. All Black women are NOT BROKE and struggling due to our academic achievements, successful careers and financial independence. Black people, especially Black women should stop trying to speak for the masses! Black women are NOT ALL BROKE or STRUGGLING (BTW…This is the 21st century).
