Fun story. My buddy had a cat that was named Buckethead. One day as teenagers were sitting and talking and I ask him why his cat is named such. So he explains how his step dad named him after a musician. So of course we head to RU-vid. That moment is the moment that I chose to pick up a guitar a learn how to play. I was so inspired deep within that it wasn't just a want. It was a need to learn the instrument that reached into me that day. From then on, I've listened to every Bucket album and gone to see him live and take in as much as I can by ear.
Say what you will about Vai and Stariani, Buckethead plays and writes with more emotion than most musical “artists,” more than most solo guitarists, more than most musically inclined individuals… this truly makes him more of a treasure than those I have mentioned and alluded to. Music is emotion’s amplifier, you don’t need to write a note and or melody to convey a particular emotion, just play the damn instrument, it’ll allow you to convey that feeling better than your mind could ever wish it to be…
on this and any other channel that posts Buckethead, the comments are so positive! This is what this amazing person has done. United us. We are all blessed to be in awe together.
Fastest pike gun in the West bar none..no idea how you get them loaded so quickly, even less idea how BH composes, plays, records and wings them out so quickly. Many thanks, great end to June. Rock on..
Albums such as these I believe are pretty much completely improvised on top a backing track. With his experience, a half an hour of improv is probably nothing.
@@caelenselke-minogue you are very probably right. In the overall scheme of things in his back catalogue this isn't exactly rare. Long solos aren't everybody's cup of tea but I lap them up. It'd be interesting to sit in on such a session wouldn't it??
This is the best Pike of the year, among many solid efforts. The "outside" (but still melodic) lead work in The Colouring of Metals and the great, 80s-style crunching metal chording in Long Walks is fantastic. Love the guitar tone, great drumming, and I don't even miss the bass here. Don't need it.
Again my ears were busy 👂🎵. I've been playing guitar for a year in August, and during that time my ears have been a little more trained than before. When I listen to Bucket's songs with those ears, I have a strong desire to respect him. I thought about how he plays, how he uses delays, how he uses effectors, and finally arrived at the emotion in the song. I think Bucket creates a sound that moves everyone, but also moves me. For him, the songs he creates are a beautiful asset.
I've been playing guitar for almost two years now, and Bucket has been so much of my inspiration, from the his earlier, highly technical masterpieces to the beautiful ambient and soulful recent albums such as this. Just listening to it has made me so much better at improvising, and learning his most technically challenging songs has made me improve so much in the past 23 months.
This is the best pike I’ve heard year to date. Its so fucking good. IM GOING TO SMASH MY HEAD THROUGH THE FUCKING WALL!! That’s how good this pike is! Brian Carroll is not of this world!!!!
I thought Long Walks would not be as good because of the start but holy shit it gave me an eargasm starting from 23:47 and onwards. I love you Buckethead. Thank you NatterNet as well. WHOO!!
This Pike is incredible, so much emotion, such unreal melodies. “Moon Stones” in particular brings tears to my eyes EVERY-TIME I listen to it, fucking amazing 🤘🏻❤️🤘🏻
Here for everything this amazing human creates,i genuinely hope that his music lasts for thousands of years into the future,he just writes what he feels and its so god damn beautiful 😊
Oh yeah. They are definitely in the music. Just like he said. You can hear it when he plays like this. It’s beautiful. I wonder if my mom is hanging out with his mom and dad up there. She always knew how big of a Buckethead fan I am. When I close my eyes and listen to this I feel like I’m up there with them.
He's JUST THE ABSOLUTE BEST MUSICIAN EVER,, We who know are so LUCKY&I DON'T EVEN LISTEN TO anyone or anything else NOTHING COMPARES OR COMES CLOSE&THANK U BH THK U NEVER EVER STOP THE SOUND IT'S EVERYTHING, WHAT AN AMAZING MIND OF SOUND
New to Buckethead wish I could have been a fan years ago thank god for you tube And Buckethead I think he’s definitely GOAT material I’m totally hooked he brings me to another dimension.
Moon Stones is a heavenly whisper streaming down to us from the unknown boundaries and realms of space time, divulging the enigma of life and universe in guitar tunes. Only Buckethead knows what message this song conveys. We can not decipher this song. In thousands of years when brains are larger, maybe. No superlatives can describe this song.
I would like to know what effect is used for moonstones. I cant stop listening to it and would love to learn it or make something inspired by it. True masterpiece!
"The Colour of Love", inspired by BucketHead What colour is the colour of Love? Is it Blue like the blood that runs through our veins? Goes through our hearts and gives soul to the brain Our hearts are beating, which give us Life Our brains are for thinking, to get us out of strife.. Or maybe it's Red, like when our blood pierces the Air If you ain't got any of that than you just don't care. Or maybe it's Yellow, kinda like our Sun Bright warmth for all, and coldness for none... Can it be Green? Like God's Green Earth? Or is it money you're after, some ladie's purse.. Blue Red and Yellow are our primary colours Which mean they exist on their own Blue and Yellow make Green, now we're in tha Zone. The possibilities are endless we are made of Flesh-n-Bone Speaking to God like I have a Magical Phone.. -Me lol
I don’t know why Bucket doesn’t start his own channel and record the making of these. It would be a great way for him to make some more income off these Pikes and we would love to see it
In the past he played a lot with Pinchface (Michael Hakopian) and Brain (Bryan Mantia). He also appears to enjoy being a solo act. Nothing wrong with that. On these Pikes, my belief is that he plays a lot of the drums himself (either him or Dan Monti, although Dan Monti's own website says that Dan plays bass and produces the Pikes, doesn't mention drums). I think most Pike songs have drums played by a human (a few drum machine Pikes exist, though, including several recently), but that human, whoever it is, is playing a MIDI drum kit, not an acoustic kit, so it sometimes has a bit of an electronic-y sound, leading people to say that all the Pikes have programmed drums. I don't agree with that statement.
