Tag Prompts:
1. The Kettle's On: A book of steadfast comfort, always there for you, makes any day better, like a cup of tea (or your favorite warm drink).
2. Grandmother's Quilt: A book that reminds you of a loved one, or a comforting book that was given to you or read aloud to you by someone dear.
3. Warm Spices: A book with particularly vivid prose or imagery. A story comforting in its richness, depth, or vibrance.
4. Candlelight: A book that keeps you going or encourages you when things feel dark.
5. Laugh-Medicine: A book that makes you laugh out loud or grin widely, coming to the rescue on the gloomiest days.
6. In Bed All Day: You've got your warm drink, a cozy blanket (maybe grandmother's quilt.) What do you read when you're curled up in bed all day? (Or for a couple of hours, anyway.)
7. Endless Comfort: A book that brings you solace no matter how many times you reread it.
8. Portable Hope: A book that restores your faith in humanity, faith in life, faith in yourself. A book that says, "It's going to be okay. The world is full of good things, and tomorrow will be better."
9. A Basket for Your Neighbor: Just as it's lovely to be comforted by books, it can be lovely to pass the comfort along. Imagining you were putting together a cozy comfort basket for your neighbor (or friend, loved one, take your pick), which book(s) would you include?
10. A Walk in the Woods: Though we'd like to stay curled up indoors with our books forever (or, at least, I would), we've got to venture into the world again sometime. A walk in the woods always helps me feel refreshed (unless I happen upon a spider or something, but let's not think about that). Tell us about a book with beautiful nature writing, or a book that restores your peace.

I could listen to you talk about books all day. 😊 You have so many great recommendations and your books are beautiful! I hope your little boys are doing well. They are so cute. 💙 Arthur is the exact same age as my little girl and I used to love watching your reading vlogs when he was a baby. They were so authentic and inspiring. Thank you. 😀

So many comforting reads! The Blue Castle truly is delightful. I found Girl of the Limberlost in my used bookstore a couple months ago and I'm hoping to read it some time this year.

Watched this yesterday on my TV, with a pen and paper handy. We have read so many of the same books but you may have books I haven't read yet. I'm going to try Elizabeth Goudge again thanks to you.

I love this tag. I hope more BookTubers do this one. You made me want to read all of the books you showed in this video. The fiction I read is definitely for comfort and coziness. Some of my favorite comfort reads are the Little House on the Prairie series, books featuring animals like Winnie the Pooh, Paddington, Beatrix Potter, etc, and cozy mysteries. With my love of books featuring animals, I need to read Brambly Hedge soon. It looks so adorable.

So many great books! Some I never heard of. I'm reading Wives and Daughters now and just love it. Enchanted April and A Room with a View are also favorites. I also love atmospheric books, so I eagerly await your suggestions.

Thank you! I'm so pleased you are enjoying Wives and Daughters! Are you looking for darker atmosphere? The first ones that come to mind are Juliet Marillier's Sevenwaters series (sexual assault warning), Kristin Lavransdatter by Sigrid Undset, A Welsh Witch by Allen Raine, Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, My Cousin Rachel and Rebecca and The King's General all by Daphne DuMaurier, Grania by Emily Lawless, and Thunder On the Right by Phyllis Whitney.

I read "The Blue Castle" over 10 years ago, and I only remember that I liked it. Now I'm 28, so I want to read it again because the main character is of a similar age. Great video. :)

Hi Kate, I read Miss Pym disposes with you guys last month and it was a very unusual book. Josephine Tey is a unique writer and I’d like the slowness of the mystery And the setting of a gymnastics college. The ending was unusual as well. I love love Ruth Rendell and I read my first lieutenant Wexford book a few months ago and was pleasantly surprised. It was quite different than her standalones. As life gets busier I’m more into the cozy pastoral books that I’ve never read, like miss read. I saw the movie enchanted April and it was a beautifully filmed movie By the merchant Ivory directors. Just stunning. I just finished Mansfield park for Jane Austen July and just flew through it. I also just downloaded far from the madding crowd on my Kindle. Thank you for all of the new to me books. Aloha

My favorite kind of books!! You shared some of my favorites and definitely inspired me to read a bunch, too. Love Agatha Christie, Elizabeth Goudge, Phyllis A. Whitney, M.C. Beaton, Maud Hart Lovelace, Juliet Marillier, etc. Such wonderful books and authors! I would add Miss Read to my cozy book list, too. Have you ever read Victoria Holt? She has similar Gothic romances to Phyllis A. Whitney. Thank you for recommending At The Sign of the Golden Pineapple by Marion Chesney. Reading it right now and really enjoying it. Can't wait to read more :D Thanks, Kate!

It's such fun to share bookish taste! I actually just checked Mistress of Mellyn out at the library! I'm hoping I enjoy Victoria Holt. I love Miss Read's Fairacre Christmas stories. I have read a few of her other books but sometimes they're just a little too quiet for me. I'm so glad you're enjoyed Marion Chesney's book! She has such a lively writing style.

Do you think the Kristin Lavransdatter series would appeal to a non-religious person?

That's a really good question and I feel like I'm not the person to answer. Although it did win the Pulitzer prize. Maybe try a Kindle sample?
