OH FUN FACT IF U DIDNT KNOW ALREADY!! The real Ranpo Edogawa was a fan of Edgar Allan Poe that he made his name the way it is bc it's how Edgar Allan Poe would be pronounced in Japanese!! I think it makes the relationship between the characters 10x better.
Ohhh that's so awesome! This is my all time favourite Anime & I had no idea 🖤 I love when people share these random, obscure little facts. Thank you!! XOXO
Fun Fact! Akutagawa was origanally supposed to be a woman and Atsushi was supposed to fall in love with him! Also, Shin Soukoku represents Yinyang! Atsushi being Yang and Akutagawa being Yin! Yinyang are also a couple :)
not to be that one person but pls source? Also if this is true then im just gonna ship em harder. Atsushi and Akutagawa are the Xiaoven to Chuuya and Dazai's Zhongchi for me ( i sincerely apologise for that comparison, there was no other way for me to express my love for this ship than to use another ship i love as an analogy... in this case two, that happen to be Genshin... trust me im dying of cringe over here too)
He's Zeus but with a little bit more dignity... actually no scratch that, Zeus but not as much of a whore. Dazai contains zero dignity looking at the shit he does on a daily basis.
@psychilloon thanks so much🤗 I love chuuyas grin in your profile picture, and it's not that I hated kunikida. I more like I never had a strong opinion on him
@psychilloon I get that when I first saw clips of him and how he was always smacking dazai around I didn't really have a great opinion on him but now that I actually watched the show I understand him a bit more but as you said he definitely has a stick up his ass
And I share mine with the one who killed shit ton of more than million people under the name of justice and wanted to become a God with a pen. You are lucky you got oda. He is my favorite character
@@Malakai__WeLoveYouMafumafu oh, she is loving it lol she keeps making fun of Atsushi’s hair and then immediately is like “this is my son, my poor sweet summer child” it’s amazing
"This is the kinda character id expect to see in sticker form on a college freshman's laptop, now hes about to torture a woman?" That.. that would be why hes on a college student's laptop
Its so funny that while talking about potential combos he wants to see, he mentions both the double blacks and exactly how Atsushi and Akutagawa work together
2:10 USING WONDER EGG PRIORITY IS A WILD EXAMPLE, LIKE THE WHOLE THING IS ABOUT PRIORITISING THE WONDER EGG SO THEY CAN "get their loved ones back" IT ISNT RANDOM WORDSSSSSSSSSS
1:07:13 - I dont think you really see (or at least I didnt) just how incredibly perfect of a duo Dazai and Chuuya are until you read Stormbringer and read the whole fight in the forest. It also shows just how smart Dazai is when !!SPOILERS!! he asks Chuuya if he wants to use corruption which could kill him (first time Chuuya ever used corruption itself not just his Gate being forced open) and then turns away to let Chuuya think and has already started coming up with another plan to try and kill Guivre. Also just the fact that a sixteen year old boy who lives in a shipping container both double crossed the king of assassins and completely outsmarted him in a way nobody else could.. idk this comment was an exuse to talk abt Stormbringer ngl
I happened to binge watch all of your bsd reactions a couple days ago, and I just have to say that my favourite thing out of everything has to be the way you absolutely seem to hate hawthorne, who just happens to be the one villain in the show who keeps reappearing at random times just to be a nuisance LOL I didn't think that I'd enjoy this style of reaction videos as much as I did, but your comments were absolutely hilarious!
4:11 “Dodged what? Thats not something anyone says while playing a racing game” Mariokart players….. “but the shells..the banana peels…..the..the fire balls from the fire flowers😭😭😭”
Oda showed up I couldn't decide between crying because I love him or laughing at Danny's commentary so I settled for both... I think I'm worrying everyone in my household
23:07 OMG I’m rewatching these for like the gajillionth time and while Ranpo says he’s only just met Oda, THEY’VE MET BEFORE!! WHEN ODA WAS A WITTLE BABY!! RANPO SAVED HIM FROM BEING FALSELY ACCUSED (even though he kills a guy with two witnesses right there but we don’t need to talk about that) Edit: also, the man who wrote the book Oda was reading is the same person that gave Fukuzawa and Ranpo the gifted work place thing in season 4 who’s also the same person that stopped Fukuzawa and Mori from killing each other in season 3
Fun facts about the Japanese writers! Dazai was actually obsessed with Akutagawa, as were most others writers. There was a national award named after him at the time Dazai started writing. Akutagawa also committed suicide, fearing he would develop mental illness like his mother. This may have contributed to Dazai’s obsession with suicide. Dazai tried twice before completing with his mistress. The first time he got his highschool girlfriend killed. The second time he tried with his first wife but they woke up in the morning and just decided to get a divorce instead. Dazai’s daughter also became a writer and probably had all the daddy issues one could expect being related to him. Mori was an army doctor stationed in Germany and became obsessed with white women. Also his daughter became a writer and was obsessed with homosocial relationships and is considered by some to be the mother of yaoi. Mori also hung out with Higuchi and they would write poetry together at parties at his house. Atsushi was a translator who spent time in China and was influenced by mythology where is where he got his inspiration for his story about the tiger. Ranpo has had two other anime’s based off of his work (daughter of 20 faces is worth it) and is in my openion most like the authors writing voice out of the entire cast. Dazai, Odasaku, and Ango actually called themselves the Bungo Stray Dogs and there are several movies based off of Odasaku’s short stories. He also wrote several essays I can’t get translations for. There is an anime series created by the Aoi publishing company about different stories by many of these authors (two of which are Akutagawa’s) in different anime styles. Also, this just makes me angry; Anne of green gables is a good book. It’s really sweet. About an orphan bonding with her foster parents, quirky misunderstandings, growing up along side her romantic rival and falling in love with him. How did they get an angsty chick with anger issues?
Also also, akutagawa’s ability is one of the few actually based off of the story it’s named after. It’s about a man resisting evil when he meets an old lady who tells him he stupid and he should do anything to survive. So he makes a point to her by mugging her and stealing her clothes, thus allowing himself to be a monster. It took me way to long to realize his ability is made out of his clothes.
By the way, bones studio(the animaters) purposely missed out scenes in the anime from the manga. So that could clear up why some scenes end on cliffhangers 😭
This love pentagon doesn't need more angles 🤣 side note: I live in John Steinbeck's hometown and he wrote a lot about the ag workers struggles because we are the salad bowl of the world or something like that
I just have to say I could watch you rant about book authors for hours even if I've never read any of their books because ove only been interested in sci-fi and fantasy and anime
Side note, finally someone called Akutagawa out for being a bitch obsessed with Dazai. Atsushi literally just wants any affirmation that he should exist because he's been told he shouldn't, meanwhile Akutagawa only acknowledges he even has any issues if Dazai is around or slightly involved and his issue is purely his abilities worth not his entire existence. He's a cool character but people talk so much shit about Atsushi throwing the radio like he owes Akutagawa any kindness when he has attempted to murder him every turn and one is an actual Mafia member, I wouldn't hate him nearly as much if people didn't ignore that he's a complete asshole.
Danny idk if you'll see this but "In the novel, John Steinbeck follows the fictional journey of the Joads, a family of sharecroppers from Sallisaw, Oklahoma, forced to migrate west during the Dust Bowl. The Joads join thousands of other migrants on the trek to the Salinas Valley of California, a place they idealize as rich with opportunity."
Danny getting Hisoka vibes from the leader dude, when his VA voices Hisoka is just.... So many layers of "holy snap, Danny are you psychic?" I have legit attempted to watch BSD like four times and still can't get past episode three.... This is probably the closest I'll get to watching the show, but just in case I actually do watch it... I'm glad I'll hear Danny's snarky commentary in my brain.
Also i find it so ironic that Danny almost went into English... but didnt because of Scarlet Letter I am currently aiming for mg master's in English and while its no where near my top like, 30 books, Scarlet Letter is my favorite classic because Pearl is a menace and Hester is a badass in an undertstated way
first time commenting on your bsd journey and I have to say you should watch bsd wan dubbed version just saying it's way to cute the characters Chibi forms first part is dog verse
I am reading "Grapes of Wrath" right now and I understand so much more about where his backstory and power came from. Also yeah, it's kinda about plantations and kinda not.
guess what! I go to school in the town where Zelda was institutionalized and died. still feel good Scott? You sent your wife to a f*cking mental hospital in the apps while you ended up dying of your incompetent heart a year afterwards. and then she perished in a fire eight years later, but my point still stands
Guys Pluto the one eyed cat is crazy considering that the real Poe took his cats eye out like I’m laughing at this part the black cat was such a good tale my favourite one
technically Grapes of Wrath is about a farmer from the 1930's that lost almost everything while going through the Great Depression. the more you know :)
