@@freerobuxbeta6003McQueen did have one last win. The rules were that he started the race and Ramirez ended it so they share the 95 and share the victory
This video hit home. Doc sounded like my grandpa irl and had a very similar personality to him and as a result I really felt connected to his character as a kid and now as a young adult. As a 23 year old this still hits the same soft spot in my spirit as it did when I was 6 in 2006. This video is beautiful, it provides a very large amount of information on the guy, and made me feel like I was a little kid again. Very beautifully done. I hope for Halloween pixar brings the ghost of doc back to possess another dead hornet in a scrapyard to race all of his other phantom buddies at the abandoned moonshine trails that started it all. Thanks for this video Ned.
@@Saint_Galahad same my grandpa loves cars he even has his own shop he was the best mechanic in town even taught me and my brother how to change tires and oil and engine
RIP Doc youve always taught me there's more to racing than just winning. Ive always lived my life in the fast lane but you helped me to slow down live life and inspire others . You maybe a fictional character but you inspired me i definitely owe it all to you 1951-2009
I feel that he would've mentored McQueen around the events of Cars 2, despite Mater's antics with being a secret agent. One or two years later, he would pass away sparking the events of Cars 3 in 2017
What people have overlooked is that the number 51 was McQueens idea, since he wants Hudsons number to be carried on through new generation. It's so sad that Hudsons Voice Actor passed away, and it's so sad for me, because to me, he's like my grandpa when he said the line
Doc Hudson was almost like a secondary dad figure to Lighting McQueen, always by his side and leading him to success, it's so sad to know that he had passed away years ago 😢
Something I wish they did was have Lightning do Hudson's flip in the first movie, so that way when Cruz did it it could flash from her to McQueen to Doc and then back to McQueen and finally her, showing Lightning's arc from student to teacher
Something interesting about nascar stock cars of the 1950's through the 1966 is that the only real rule limiting them on engine specifications was what was in the catalog and yes that includes the police equipment which alot of teams would use to get more power and reliability out of their motors so doc 175 instead of the OEM 145 makes sense
There was a deleted scene in Cars 3 where sterling removed McQueen's license on the number 95 and gave it to Cruz after his number stats started coming back, because the suit that McQueen was wearing had a stat tracker, and Cruz was wearing the same. In that same deleted scene, we see that Smokey ang Tex actually knew each other for a while. In that scene McQueen was able to race under the sponsor Dinoco and using Hudson's Paint job (Actually the same one used in the final scene in cars 3) with a number 51 on McQueen's number. Unknown if he won the race though as thats where the cutscene ended
My theory on his Doc's death: I'm leaning towards old age and engine failure. Doc has lived 55 years and basically a living relic of racing. With his accident that crushed him and his career, the past may have caught up with him even though he was rebuilt and he tried improving himself to get back in tip top shape. Then the engine failure theory. An engine block is pretty much considered as the heart of every automobile, gas/diesel is their food, oil is their vitamins, and water for keeping temperature. With Rod Redline stating "I can replace an engine block" means more like a heart transplant. Rod is a newer model vehicle compared to Doc so he can get newer parts that is compatible with his model. On Doc's case, parts for his entire engine block would've been a lot harder to find, let alone replacing the entire engine block.
@vladvulcan much like in real life, model Ts (Lizzy) are still alive and kicking despite the age. There have been over 15 million Model Ts built, so parts are easier to come by. Unfortunately for IRL Hudsons, there were not a lot of units built, so parts will be a lot more difficult to find. Because the Hudson Hornet is a rare car, the parts are just not there anymore, which can also explain why lore Doc died in Cars 3, but Lizzy is still there. The real reason Doc died was obviously because Paul Newman died in 08. As far as keeping old cars alive, the longer they last, the harder it is to keep them going.
True OGs know this was one of his first videos, it was shorter and was narrated by the guy who started the channel. He would also upload videos with the die casts as well. I miss the old days of the channel
Docs cool and calm attitude reminds me of some other legends who raced & won the champion in 2007 in Ferrari, then retiring in a Alfa Romeo end of 2021
9:20 and 15:17 Doc Hudson tried to convince Sally that the Racing rookie should not fix the Town’s Road, but she wouldn’t listen until the towns-folks learned the truth that Montgomery “Lightning” McQueen was a Racing Rookie for the Piston Cup Series
Rest in power Doc Hudson Fabulous Hudson Hornet your legendary victory and coaching and the Piston-Cup lives on all as well celebrating 75 years of NASCAR🇺🇸🏆🏆🏆🌹🏵🏎
I thought this channel was dead after a slow down of Cars content being produced and released, but nope, it was just taking it's time in creating masterpieces, and also, just in time to upload during my Cars Renaissance, welcome back
There’s so much I learned about Doc that I enjoyed. Bro sometimes I imagine Doc and Skipper standing on a beach in the morning and like chatting about their students or their coaching skills
Wow this was so factual and helpful!!! Welcome back ned wheeler!!!! (PLEASE LET MY FAMILY GO, IVE GIVEN YOU EVERYHTING I HAVE. IM ON MY HANDS AND KNEES)

Doc Hudson is such a lovable character. He truly has had quite the journey from racing champion to doctor to McQueen's Mentor. He is the kind of wise character you would look up to and is one we can all agree is one we can all learn a lot from. Amazing work, Ned Wheeler! I'm looking forward to what you do next.
you know, i wonder how Dale Earnhardt's carreer was in the cars cannon, since JR is there we know he existed, i wonder how much of it was affected by the presence of the King in the same track, in the same time
@@JustGenius2001 They probably can, but it would take one hell of a hard hit for their skull to be fractured, considering their skins are literally made of metal

18:38 Maybe, but probably only if you can replace it fast enough! Someone else said that the parts that needed to be replaced were no longer available to Doc since they went out of production
I want to see a Radiator Springs/Doc spin-off so much. I absolutely love cars of the 30-80-s. Even chronicles from the Cars 3 look unbelievably awesome
Got a chuckle out of this, dor two reasons. One being I used to see Paul quite often, living down the ateeet from pne of his relatives. He'd come visit them, and walk over to my shop to check out the builds and restorations we had going. Even signed the glovebox of our 52 Hornet. As well as taking it for a lap at Irwindale when we got it up and going after sitting for 24 years. Just an all around nice man. The other being, my wife and I bought a house that overlopks Watkins Glenn racetrack, 5 years ago. We sit on our back porch, listen to the races, and watch them from there, with our field glasses. Miss you, old friend. See you at the big track again, in a little while.
*Fabulous* video Ned! I've found Doc's origin story always fascinating, especially after Cars 3 came out. I would love to see Pixar do a spin-off/prequel movie of Doc's racing and medical career before McQueen showed up in Radiator Springs.
Technically, Doc was based off of a Hudson that did race back in NASCAR's early years. Heck, Doc's scheme is almost the exact same scheme that the Hudson in real life had.
Doc was a fictional car, yet his character was based off of real life history of the Hudson Hornet car model, and a famous nascar driver who drove it back in the early 1950's, winning nascar records that actually do still stand to this day.
R.I.P the racing legend doc was my favorite car then any one else doc will not be forgotten and will be a legend in all our hearts 😭 docs words : turn right to go left/you had a lot of stuff kid
Man, you totally won the lottery with this great summary of this life's character. Doc is one of my fav characters of all time, and i'm very grateful to had the chance of know about the Cars depth lore. You got a new suscriber mate! 🙌🏼
The 1951 Hudson Hornet was one of the most powerful cars of it's time, It was made during the Korean War which didn't impact auto production like WW2 did a few years prior
It's reupload from old clip on this channel but it is extended and contains so many facts! Great effort! I wonder what are the sources of comicbook and these pictures when Hudson travels to Radiator Springs. If we ever get a movie about Doc Hudson I would be so happy! Probably it won't happen because of Paul Newman's death but even with a new voiceactor it would be amazing.

One engine failure could be possible, especially if it was a bad enough one. Though, with Doc being Doc, I doubt it would be that. He wouldn’t push himself to mechanical failure unless it was something like an oil line bursting and causing a sudden oil pressure loss and possibly a fire.
A mentor, friend, legend and racer, these things are what make Doc Hudson so Fabulous, truly my favourite character in all of Cars. I wish i could back to 2008, look at myself watching this movie as a baby, and tell myself all the wonderful things about him.
