There’s one more artist you’re missing. His name is Datin this dude is a heavy weight lyricist. He does Christian rap but before that he was doing rap battles with D12 he was about to sign with Eminem but changed his life. He’s still destroying mics tho he deserves some respect. He’s from Newark
Also unmentioned is whom I'd consider a pioneer & legend is DJ CHEESE from Plainfield NJ.. considered at one time the best DJ in the WORLD.. be won the 1st world dj competition & is well known & respected by many of the greats.. look him up💯💯
Chino XL crushed 2Pac on his diss record. It wasn't even close. 2Pac just said something general about Chino, but Chino dissed 2Pac's mom and even made light of him having one ball. Of course 2Pac was the more iconic figure and his fans will say he always wins, but in this case, it wasn't even a contest. The same could be said with Mobb Deep's, mainly Prodigy's diss on 2Pac. Prodigy crushed 2Pac on Drop a Gem on Em.
Free Fetty, Long Live Tame One, Shout out my brother Fatboi, El Da Sensei, DoItAll, Mr. Green and all the legends. They paved the way for us. Fugees made some of the best music of any genre. And we got SZA. I'll stop now lol.
Dude, your knowledge is insane! This is a great documentation of New Jersey hip hop. Papo2oo4 and Subjxct 5 are my favorite duo rn, so cool to see them shouted out. Another fantastic video👏🏼
And just in case anybody did not know this Chino XL is one of the most intelligent well known rappers of all time. He is a MENSA member so his IQ is at genius level.....
Rotten Razkalz, Artifacts, YZ, Sah-B even though the latters didn't have albums I was impressed with what I heard. For me the artist has to have been birthed in "The Garden State" otherwise they're expats Ijs
Im a fellow, NJ resident (from Somerset County) and I thank you for representin Jersey well, we helped HIp Hop in so many ways and they usually don't menion Jersey a lot.
Great video! I would definitely add my favorite: Shawn Lov from Trenton, NJ. He made many classic albums like "Escape From Never Never Land" and "Waiting For A Ghost" and "The G.O.D." which was produced by Tony D. Also, YZ is another dope NJ artist who released "Sons of the Father" which was also produced by Tony D who was also the producer behind Poor Righteous Teachers and a dope emcee in his own right. Tony D had some solo stuff too like "Droppin' Funky Verses" and even a couple group projects like "Crusaders for Real Hip-Hop". He was so dope Naughty By Nature's producers bit his beat "Adam's Nightmare" to make O.P.P. If you still have time after all that I would check out underground emcee and producer the "Custodian of Records" who is equally dope as both an emcee and producer and has done tracks for tons of incredible emcees in NJ. "The Cause" of "The Cause & Knowledge" is another dope underground artist who is making noise and has done tracks with both Fatboi Sharif and Shawn Lov and is also worth a check. Then you have other artists like Blaque Spurm, Channel Live, Heather B, King Sun, Scott Lark, Big Ooh, I swear NJ is notorious for having so many dope artists who were an impotent part of NJ Hip-Hop history but don't get mentioned enough.
Dope vid once again. Jerz has def been a hotbed for hip hop since day 1. I'm from MA. But, respect NJ and gotta shout out a couple others that didn't make the vid. Channel Live, Brothers Uv Da Blakmarket, Crusaders For Real Hip Hop (RIP Tony D), Double XX Posse, Heather B, Govna Mattic, Krown Rulers, Nikki D (the 1st lady of Def Jam), P.M. Dawn (RIP Prince Be), Real Live, Prince Johnny C, DJ Haze, Rottin Razkals, HOM, Ran Reed & last, but not least, YZ
They are not.. they called each other cousin when first met bcuz of how well they got along plus both their moms are named Darlene.. I heard Redman say it himself on interview in fakt not long ago
Let me put you on to Joe College of Neptune. He's almost like a modern day Grand Puba, but with his own flair. As far as producers go, Mike Zombie is from Willingboro. And don't forget about Heather B of Jersey City and Lady Luck of Englewood.
PEACE/ISLAM/SHALAWAM/HOTEP. Very good documentation of Jersey hip hop. My family's feom there and I ised to live there ( Weequaic section). I was surprised you didn't know RAH DIGGA is part of the OUTSIDAZ? My favorite Jersey ARTISTS are P.R.T. / MACH HOMMY/ NAUGHTY/ DA OUTZ/ ARTIFACTS. PEACE AND LOVE.
Good video, there are few more Jersey Legends I would like to Mention. YZ, Tony D and Simply Deft out of trenton. Also Dj Ready Red, the original dj of the Geto Boys was out of Trenton. Can't forget the Krown Rulers out of Camden NJ. I know theres more that deserve their props. Peace.
