I put my venus fly trap in the kitchen near a window as it receives the most sun and also it has the most natural heat and humidity from cooking and also lack of oxygen causes root rot so keep the window open and make sure your pot has extra holes on the side of the pot so the roots receives oxygen for growth

AROUND 2:20 with the Styrofoam cup, I’m assuming you are poking holes in the bottom of the cup? If so, how many do you recommend, and how big/small should they be? Appreciate any help… What a great idea for a channel! It’s really cool to see how passionate you are with these, not to mention that I believe they are the most fascinating plant I have ever seen. I’m only 40, but I have loved this plant my entire life! Now, I have probably killed at least 25 of them! Lol. Unintentionally of course… Living in the north east, I had no idea that they could go dormant. This is the coolest thing about RU-vid, prior to this it was all a guessing game or using the awful instructions on a plant purchased at Lowe’s. Thank you again, I admire your passion and knowledge!

When you let it go dormant what is the coldest temperature they can be in before they don’t come back in the spring time. Our winters her in mass get below 0’ Fahrenheit a lot of the time with snow many times. I was thinking about putting a five gallon pail over it during the winter hoping that would work but I don’t think there would be any air circulation. Do you think it would be okay with the temperatures below freezing on some days for the three months?? Thank you for your help

I purchased seed and followed your advice with an indoor grow light, expecting difficulty getting them started. I was surprised to see in 3 days 100% germination and what looked like a red mold but actually all the seeds germinated. Now what? How and when do I feed indoors? How to I thin out? No video really covers this, what do I do until the traps form?

Hi do you have any advice for treating pests like aphids? I have tried submerging one of my plants last season which did get rid of the aphids but the plant has not been anywhere near as health as before? This season I have found aphids again on another large plant collection I have and don't really want to submerge it. Have you tried soapy water spray?

I do not have much experience in the subject, but have heard of using pyrethrin to treat aphids. Also, some ppl make their own insecticide with canola oil and soap.

When you say "direct sunlight" do you mean the rays of the sun have to hit the plant directly? Or is it fine to just have them outdoors even if the sun is not hitting them directly?
@obambagaming1467
@obambagaming1467 Год назад
From my experience they like direct sun. However there are some things to consider. If sun is too strong and temperature is too high the pot and soil can heat up and kill the plant. Exspecially if the soil and pot are dark. Also if the plant isn't used to sunlight, you just should put them only for a few hours into direct sunlight (and the rest of the day under a growlight). Because if they are put under direct sunlight right away, they can get sunburn. If it causes too much damage, the plant can die. New leaves usually have a better UV protection. If the sun isn't hitting the plant directly for some hours, it's not really that bad if it's still bright but not too shady.
