The Congo Basin forests are a lifeline for more than 60 million people -- providing food and income for many remote communities, storing huge amounts of carbon, supporting unique ecosystems and regulating the flow of the major rivers across Central Africa. Yet the Congo's forests are being cleared at an alarming rate amid global demand for minerals, energy and wood resources from Africa. Research into the issues facing the Congo Basin is more critical than ever.

This is nothing. You should see the log that are shipped off to Europe and China everyday. Huge logs. What they are showing here of villagers making charcoal is nothing compared to the thousands of giant logs I have seen been shipped off from Congo Brazzaville and Gabon in the past two years. Legal and illegal logging should all stop. There is no way we can replace this ancient trees. Not sure anyone has the seedlings anyway. The world cried over the Amazon, the same should be done about this African great forest.

It is not wrong and neither is it right to log forests, but it is appropriate that we plant back trees and other forms of plants after cutting them. Trees are God given natural materials for us humans to use. They are really a blessing that we should take care of and manage properly. And yes, we should start planting more plants world wide to also help wild life to remain preserved.

@@nkazimulomnisi7118 that is true imagine how many trees would be replaced this year 🤦🏽‍♂️imagine from 2012 to 2021 if we planted back every tree it not that ducking hard to do so but the people in power are fucked

Very nice short Documentary! These are some of the examples of hidden treasures of the nature... We,mankind still have to find many mysteries of the nature!
@sambawomen

Deep Mate No, stay the fuck away, the correct people know nature, there are no mysteries to them so they don’t have to find anything. As you said “mankind” (a kind of man) knows nothing of nature, they don’t hear or or feel it so how could they ever know it? The only way they can get to know it is by dissecting it, hurting it, destroying it. “Man Kind” stay the FUCK away!

IT IS AMAZING. THE GREATEST CHALLENGE IS THE SUSTTAINABLE UTILIZATIO N OF THE FOREST RESOURCES. GOVERNMENTS NEED TO DEVELOP VERY WORKABLE POLICIES AND HAVE THE WILL TO ENFORCE THEM EFFECTIVELY

Natives were saving these rich eco systems for many thousands of years from the begi5, now their minds are poisoned by whites of snow and yellowish people of deserts. 😭😭
@saimbhat6243
@saimbhat6243 2 года назад
Their life expectancy was very low, thus they had limited people feeding on abundant resources, now because their life expectancy is increasing, the populations are exploding, thus abundant people are competing for limited resources, thus clearing forests and killing more animals. If you eradicate polio, malaria, small pox and other high morality diseases and provide access to scientific medicine, infant mortality is bound to shrink, thus increasing populations exponentially, which is the case with africa, their populations are doubling in decades. Now give some massage to your highly functional primate brain, and stop being a rascist.

Originally this forest was even more populated with Animals than the Amazon and nearly the same size ,but colonialism & civil wars triggered an epic collapse

The problem with these rain forests is it is populated by very poor people who depend upon the forest resources for their life sustenance So naturally it will have its effects on the environment and thus contribute to global warming etc. United Nations should think of finding alternate source of income to sustain the lives of these forest dwellers if the world wants to save these natural lungs of this globe
