You perfectly encapsulated my main gripe with this movie in how it destroys my suspension of disbelief by introducing the legal aspect. It's one thing to adapt a scary story that happens behind closed doors where only witness testimony is available to go by. However, when you add in an actual criminal case where actual _evidence_ has to be provided in a *court of law,* it totally undermines the "based on a true story" element because there are actual legal records involved. Like, it would have been pretty noteworthy if the Warrens helped solve a missing person/murder case and also had to lead police to the house of a murdered man and his also dead witch daughter. Though it really jumped the shark when it had the big X-Men exorcism scene *in the middle of a prison* where multiple guards witnessed the exorcism that also apparently destroyed an entire wing of the prison. You can't try to ground your film in "reality," then pull such cartoonishly over the top stunts in an extremely public setting.
I have a hard time believing that this channel doesn't have more views, given the quality of content you have to offer. It's insane. Keep it up. This channel is the best.

Can I just say how insulting it is that this movie exists especially if you actually look up the original story. There was no demons or ghosts or whatever, it was a psychotic man who killed multiple people and when he got caught, like a coward, he blamed the devil instead of admitting it
@@brxndonjh6139 In other "supernatural" Court scenes like the story of the priests killing that girl, they never used supernatural demon stuff because that's not proper evidence, there is no way of using that in law

From my research he only served 5 years for good behaviour, and in court they said it was in self defence. There was a family remember they removed from the film as he actively spoke out that the Warrens made the entire story up. Also, the Kennel owner who died was killed after interacting with the girlfriends younger cousin, due to something he did he caused an argument with Arne And the knife arne used wasn't on the floor due to circumstance, it was infact inside his pocket the entire time Arne served 5 years for straight up killing a guy
I had a guy in my theater who (every time the bloated corpse spirit showed up) said “Oh hell nah.” So loud that the whole theater heard it. More entertaining than the movie honestly.
In my theatre, people were laughing throughout most of the film. I feel like that was not the intended response. I feel like this movie was shit and James Wan is like the Atlas of horror franchises the way he carries them on his back (and the way they crumble when he leaves).
if by "everyone" you mean a small minority who dont think jump scares are fun or interesting, then yes everyone. The majority of retarded movie goers are perfectly fine with these movies and think they are good.
@@Ziomaletto Jump scares arent inherently a bad thing, but you have to earn them and make them actually surprising. Overused and with such obvious buildup every 20 minutes its bad.
@@saltiney8578 That's why I mentioned Curse of Chucky, there's only like 2 or 3 jumpscares, and the movie relies more on atmosphere and build-up to be a successful entry in this a bit stale franchise.
As soon as I heard that the director was the same one from La Llorona, I was like "Well, f*ck this franchise then". I wonder if producers ever go like "Well, this guy's movies are not well received, let's look for someone else"
As soon as I heard that the director was the same one from La Lorona, I wondered if it was actually La Lorona possessing the director to try to create a decent film. Of course it had to fail. Morale of the story is, if a director sucks, leave it up to the director to figure it out later on.
Is anyone else off put by Patrick Wilson still being & looking relatively young while also having to, pretty accurately, emulating the physicality of an older man who just had a heart attack who's supposed to be a decade older in this movie than when he was in the Conjuring 1?
When they have a universe where every movie has a haunting, maybe you can drop the whole “oh noooooo a ghooooost” thing. Take a step towards Ghost Busters or the anime show Trese. Hauntings are an accepted part of life. Now explore the deeper themes of death, tragedy, cruelty, evil, loneliness, revenge and perhaps even love.
Did they ever explain why the witch cursed everyone? I know the ritual required a child (the little brother), a lover (the girl in the woods) and the man of god (Ed), but why tho? What would she get? Maybe I just didn't pay enough attention but they never told us anything about the curse.
I will say this: a lot of the dumb stuff that’s complained about is stuff from the actual book about the case, like the waterbed. Doesn’t mean it couldn’t have been executed better but yeah. Since the book’s not in print anymore it’s hard to find and read so I feel like this case isn’t as well known.
I can't believe they thought that water bed scene would be scary. Water beds aren't even close to being a thing anymore, the whole reason aNoES4 did that scene was because many people had water beds and it could be scary thinking about it while you're laying in bed at night.
I assumed they did it because apparently there was a water bed in the house when the family moved in, and that’s the room that the little big first saw the ghost. But after this video I’m not sure if it was that or just a blatant rip-off of Nightmare on Elm St.
I’m a big lover of James Wan and the conjuring movies, but as soon as I saw Chaves would be directing, I knew it would be a disaster waiting to happen. Why would they let him direct after La Llorona?
You know what would've been a better ending? They get him off with 5 years, then, as they're taking him to jail, he gets a few more words with Ed, & just whispers 'thanks for getting me off...' then he gets escorted to his cell, implying that he was just a crazy murderer & the demon shit was all a fake out, but it doesn't directly say it, protecting against lawsui-I MEAN leaving some room for interpretation...You'd kinda have to rewrite most of the movie, but I think that ending would be better...Though I guess I am a bit biased...
As an isolated 1 off story I'd agree with you. As a sequel to a series of movies where the supernatural is always to blame, it would be really out of place.

I lost it at the list "things you missed in the film" I had to pause. Holy crap im so glad I got recommend to this channel. I haven't laughed this much in awhile. I'm glad I only watched the 2 conjurings and avoided them rest.
Long rant Something I can’t stand in the spin off movies which this movie did too is having the almighty unstoppable demon that not even the power of God can stop. Whether you believe in the power of God or not, the first two conjuring movies established that the demons are powerful (the movies have to add tension for our characters) but, something like the crucifix made the demon scream in fear because they are powerless in the face of God. In the first movie we see that the demon is preventing the mother from leaving the house because it knows that her encountering the priest is game over for the demon. In this movie though…the priest gets thrown back, the holy water does nothing, the priest in the prison shrivels back in fear with no amount of prayer working etc. The whole idea is that Ed and Lorraine needed to prove that something wasn’t a hoax so that the church could get involved and the troubles they faced was because they didn’t have someone like Priest there to help ward off the demon and completely get rid of it with the power of God.
It's true. They have to up the anty so they go "not even God can stop him" so it makes you think ok what can then. It's one of the worst contrivances you can do as an excuse to make another sequel

I'm so very uncomfortable with the idea of sensationalizing this case not only to fully be like "this murderer was innocent!" but also basically making it a totally different movie that jumps from this very real murder case. It feels just, so icky to me
With the real life Perron family case the family told the Warrens to leave as they made the "haunting" worse both in religious provocation and they wanted any and all book/movie rights to what was going on

This movie just felt like a long pg-13 scooby doo episode. Also, I understand they included the weird voodoo lady to explore the disciples of the ram, but they still stayed in the surface of that, while making the movie entirely too convoluted to make any sense at all.
I gotta admit. I saw the first movie after years of being told "this and the second movie are the best ones". It was fine. Nothing great, but fine. If that's what got people so hyped, to see a basic haunted house story with jump scares, then I can't imagine what this shit has come down to a decade and millions of spin offs later. But if it helps Cordz pay the bills and keeps us laughing with these amazing videos, happy to see more.
One of the Glatzel sons is considering suing, the way he did (successfully) to keep the Warren's book about the case from being reprinted. I hope he sues the producers out of selling any more of this B.S. Can you imagine a movie like this being made about your own family: your brother's mental illness, and your sister's boyfriend committing murder, because of "demons"?
You have to admit though, it is very weird how he only killed one person, never killed anyone ever again, and now lives happily with his wife. No mental illness
@@nickp3949 He is talking about David, the little kid, who still to this day says he is possessed (he's clearly mentally ill). Also, not all killers are serial, the night Arne killed Bono they were both drunk and arguing.
Even more bad news The Nun 2 is being directed by Micheal Chaves, so I don’t think it’s gonna be that good, I swear ever since the first Annabelle was made, no other director except James Wan should’ve been allowed to direct any more Conjuring universe films.
I guess sometimes suspention of disbelief is useful, but I really don't think it works when you're dealing with an actual crime. The movie "Exorcism of Emily Rose" got away with it becuse it showed both perspectives of the case, not presenting the criminal as innocent.
Tbh dragging a real life murderer/murder case into the movies that are basically a fictional version of totally minor and somewhat unimportant (con artist) couples lives is really weird. And turning the story around to vindicate said murder in just gross. The way they marketed it around their fake version of this real case, along with the whole “This court recognizes the existence of God so they should acknowledge the existence of the devil” trailer line, was aggravating. Like I was pretty sure they were con artists from the start but some of the people making these movies seem to be on a similar level. A better version of an exorcism and courtroom proceedings in a movie is “ The exorcism of Emily Rose”. A thought provoking piece of cinema where a Reverend is prosecuted for the wrongful death of a girl thought to be demonically possessed, where he performed a church sanctioned exorcism that ultimately killed her. Just my opinion btw
Funny how you mentioned that this movie has high viewership. When it was released on HBO Max, I told my coworker, “I only watched it because it was available on HBO Max. Otherwise, I wouldn't even bother going to watch it in theaters.” I had to watch it twice because I kept falling asleep. It was that boring.
Man, I had such high hopes for this franchise just like you, but this movie completely ruined any shred of that hope. I give up on the Conjuring and basically any horror movie, man. We've been through such bullshit with modern horror movies.

When I heard it was a demon-possession case of murder, I thought it was going to be about Michael Taylor, in the UK. That would've made a far better story.
Felt like an extra long episode of Supernatural to me - the Occultist angle was waaaay too PG-13. Patrick and Vera carried the whole thing on their backs. Luckily, they have the charisma and chemistry to keep this whole thing inching forward, barely.
