You are providing a good service when you provide the real life points of the FA life. These kinds of videos promote the FA career by helping screen out those who want to become one simply because they saw the"met great people" video or"flying in a private jet" video, or "stayed in a really nice hotel video", or "had a layover in Bora Bora" video. Those are more likely to not succeed in the profession.
Do I want to be a flight attendant? No. Did I ever want to be one? Never. I just love watching because you always seem to be so passionate about your job and I find the travelling SO COOL! In addition, all the FAs I watch have such a good pronunciation and enunciation, so I "use" you guys to improve my listening and speaking in English

I always say hello to all of the flight attendants and pilots if they happened to be standing outside the cockpit when I step on to the aircraft and at the end of the flight I always say thank you and have a wonderful day.
Great video. It's true, most people think your life is all fun and that's why your videos and the many others are important because the life of a FA, whether commercial or corporate, isn't all fun and glamerous

FA here and the part about "babysitting" really hit home for me, so I want to mention another perspective of that situation, as the one you mentioned and this next one have happened to me countless times.... You get a delay for whatever reason, whether the ramp is closed or it's maintenance, and the pilots say it'll be 10-20 minutes, which turns into another 10-20 minutes 3 times more and then all of a sudden it's pushing 2 hours and you have to deplane or return to the gate, and then board up again. It can be a total nightmare. People have a hard time taking no for an answer, thinking we can just start serving snacks and beverages on the ground to everyone. Or you get a delay on the tarmac due to a storm and have to start handing out water and granola bars, but that's not good enough either. A few more cons: Many do not listen to or completely disregard safety regulations. No, your 5 year old cannot sleep on top of you for take off, they need to be buckled in the their seat. People sometimes argue over putting a seatbelt on or stowing their bag properly under their seat. People get up to go to the bathroom when we're in line for take off and we have to inform the pilots and maybe get out of line. Multiple announcements are made about the fasten seatbelt sign, and even when the crew is seated, people are still up and about. Gate agents often don't do their due diligence and cause problems for the FAs during the flight or during boarding, or they often pass their responsibilities onto us. You'll have families that aren't seated together and they tell passengers to talk to the flight attendants, when that's a gate agent job. We don't know who paid to sit where or who is seated together and can't just start asking people to move to accommodate someone else. People often want something better, but don't want to pay for it, and they're shocked when we tell them how it is. Nothing is free.... No, you can't sit in that empty first class seat for free that others paid $5,000 for, or that exit row seat without paying for it. We wear MANY hats, and as said, most don't understand what our job really is. People will argue with you over being cut off from alcohol and it sometimes escalates. People will drink their own alcohol which they're not allowed to do and then argue when you try to take it. I've had a passenger call me a terrible name to my face over just doing my job. There's so much room for so many messy situations. I also get the people who say "Why don't you just quit if you hate your job??" .... Being an FA is the best job that I've had and I wouldn't change a thing, but there are those days where everything just sucks, you're exhausted, hungry, ETC. Literally every job is going to have its downsides. This one has benefits that I would never have anywhere else!
OMG the continuous delay. THE MOST FRUSTRATING! It is honestly worse for Flight Attendants than it is for passengers. That is when I truly feel like I am a babysitter. But (generally) children don't talk back, adult passengers always do! I agree with your statement of gate agents. I feel like a lot of times they pass the pax issue to us on the airplane but we don't have the resources to handle everything. I think that is why passengers get more frustrated too. Their issue could have been handled before they got on the plane. When someone would argue about paying for an unoccupied seat I would always give the example "if you are at a baseball game, and the seats behind home plate are open, you will be charged to sit there because they are premium seats. The game will go on with empty seats and so will the airplane." Passengers can't relate paying for an open seat to an upgrade for some reason. Lastly, the "why don't you quit if you hate your job" is beyond frustrating to hear. It's pax behavior I don't like, not the job :) But then again any bad day on an airplane is probably better than a bad day in an office. We just see things that are more crazy!
Hello, Please pass these remarks to all of your colleagues. sidenote: this divided into childhood and adult. Childhood: As early as age 5, flights attendants played with me, protected me from crazy people, got me access to the cockpit, required gate agents to their job (i had a transfer and the gate agent forgot about me (I was under the age of 12), don't know what was said, BUT I don't think it happened again.... to that flight attendant wherever you are, I and my parents thank you!!!! (Mom and Dad made United provide multiple first class trips after that).... sorry, I digressed...landed at Dulles and you escorted me from the concourse to the terminal so that my Grandparents didnt have to go so far. Adulthood: 1. A. Left Kauai and about 4 hours into the flight I got up from my coach seat and chatted with the first class attendant... she gave me warm chocolate chip cookies... no, it wasn't on my menu. B. Landed at SFO and my sinuses decided to start closing. Boarded red eye and about 2 hours in, I went to the First Class attendant and asked for some brandy to make a hot tottie and I didn't pay anything. 2. Was at DFW (weekend before 9/11), boarded plane and pushed back from gate and do to weather sat on tarmac for 4 hours with a nervous flier, I just suggested he ask the flight attendant for a little wine to calm his nerves. She provided and I AM THANKFUL! I don't know how you deal with soo many people and personalities.... I love that I give ya'll a look and we're on the same page. I do have one favor: when I'm sleep, don't wake me to serve a drink. Thank you to all the United, Continental, TWA, American, US Airways, Northwest and Southwest flight attendants for your hardwork in the friendly skies!!!!!!!!
I love happy stories like all of these 😊 and for the record, I would never wake a passenger during service. I figure when they wake up they’ll let me know if they want something ✈️
Hi Jackie! This is a great video. One thing I like about your lifestyle is you always have to be on. As you described. I was that way before I got married. I almost never was completely unpacked for anything, but it gave me this mindset of being light on my feet. I could turn on a dime. To me? It was just normal. It used to be I could go anywhere on a moment's notice. Anywhere! The airport would be frustrating.. the layovers and all, but overall? This is a very good life! Congratulations on doing so well!
True story from years ago...37 yrs ago! Trip from hell from Anchorage to Cincinnati...flight delayed 5 hours, rerouted with other flights, airlines, and traveling with a 7 yr old and 1 yr old. Biggest mistake...ex-husband packed diaper bag! Three flights in, ....Seattle to Chicago, baby had a major poop blow-out, and no sleepers in diaper bag and no other clothes. Exhausted Mom and 7 yr old a major Saint, so good! A United flight attendant saw my distress and got his fellow crew to jump into action on this red-eye. While other passengers slept, they took the baby from me and cuddled him, washed out his sleeper & dried it, brought me a cup of tea, and snack for 7 yr old. I felt they saved my life that night! After one more flight...different airline...22 hours after I left Anchorage, was back home! Immediately wrote to United and named all the crew who went above and beyond their call of duty to help a frazzled Mom.
When I quit flying people did not understand why I left it became a lonely life, I got sick of missing my home husband family and friends but so glad I did it I love your vlogs love from Columbus Ohio
Yes it can be very lonely! When I wasn’t buddy bidding I was missing company on layovers. You never know what your crew will be like. I love that you love my vlogs 😊😊😊
I can't agree more Jacqueline here's one just left Home Depot looking at a young man well-dressed well-spoken I look close together shirt he's a pilot first class working at Home Depot at work unbelievable can't make it up
I'm very surprised to hear you say that until the plane door closes you don't start getting paid. Once you step on to the plane your job starts, you have to make sure the galley is ready, you have to greet/ help passengers before the door closes. Why does the Union not step in about the pay?
Hi Nancy! Isn’t that terrible? It’s the hardest part of the job (usually!) unfortunately all airlines operate this way, it wasn’t just the one I was flying for. All flight attendants wish we could change this 😔
It just depends on how often flight attendants are hired and how big the company is. I would have been on reserve with my first airline for about 10-15 years. I ended up only having 9 months on reserve at my second airline. Flying private is much different. Most jobs are 100% on call

It’s definitely a lot to think about and the lifestyle understandably isn’t for everyone. Luckily it sounds like you have the time and ability to make the right choice for you. Maybe a pro and con list would help you decide?
If you can afford it, definitely go to training and see what it’s like. I got a cjo with a mainline and after 2 weeks of training I realized it wasn’t for me. I was in love with the flight attendant life, not the flight attendant job.
Way back in the last century (1973), a long flight back from London - Seattle, a well dressed businessman did not like .. something. His meal, over which the FA has zero responsibility other than to serve it to him with a smile. He snarled something rude and demeaning at the truly lovely brunette FA. My husband and I made it a point to stop her in the aisle as tears were beginning to flow and assure her that she was doing a superb job, the man was a selfish b**tard and we loved her. She did smile, I think we helped her and it was a pleasure for us to give her compliments and encouragement. . Since that day and hundreds of hours of leisure and professional travel, I assure you I will always have the FA's back. An appalling number of passengers seem to check their brains at Security and take no -- as in zero -- responsibility for their travel plans, "look up, all the information is there" (they don't!) or realize that the FA does not have a crystal ball to confirm the whereabouts of their checked luggage. And you know, I still love to fly, to fasten my seatbelt, know my pre-ordered meal is one I picked myself, have a coffee and relax. Thank you, FA's everywhere!

until their finances allow. unfortunately there is no set date. it’s rough in the beginning. I know a lot of flight attendants that lived in their cars for years
I wonder if your "charity" points were more "some" US airlines specific? I doubt flight attendants in Canada would be working for free in the "PAX on board/flight on hold/door still open" scenario. I cannot see any of the provincial labour codes allowing this so called charity work.
Just got a reply from my friend (the FA in Canada) they start getting paid when they push back from the gate. So they do “charity” work too. It’s a terrible policy and I know all flight attendants want it changed
You keep saying passengers talk down to you. Not all passengers are rude but the way you are saying is every passenger are rude. You could of said 10 or 20 percent are rude or some but I've seen flight attendants being rude to the passengers for no reason. I've seen some flight attendants won't even smile or say hello. Not all passengers or flight attendants are rude or nice. We are all human. Nobody is better than the other. You have great videos.
Sure there are people who are better than others. That's the reality of life. Pretending that everyone is equal or just the same doesn't make it so. You don't marry someone just because they are the same as everyone else. You marry them because they are special and better than everyone else.
I'm a flight attendant for a commercial airline and I don't think she meant for a second that ALL passengers are rude. There are many people that ARE polite, patient, and respectful, but unfortunately, those numbers are getting smaller, especially with the pandemic. I can't tell you how many times we stand with smiles and greet/welcome people, and they look you in the face, don't even respond, and keep walking. Some of those same people are then repeatedly ringing the call button during the flight even though they couldn't be bothered to return a hello. I've seen flight attendants be rude when it's not necessary as well and that's never okay, but at the same time, you don't know what their day has been like so far. The way people treat us can really wear you down, some days. We are human, too. There's a million different things happening in the airline industry and sometimes days that are meant to just be another day or a good day turning into a long layover somewhere, turn out completely awful, whether it's due to your scheduling department, passengers, gate agents, delays, ETC. Some flight attendants are bitter, burnt out, or just not cut out for the job and I totally agree that those people should leave as there are so many great people who want this job that won't be nasty for no reason.
Hey Glen, this is my “con” video so I am talking about downsides. In my “pro” video I mention all of my great interaction with passengers. The majority are great as you said! But the bad ones really stick out!
Thanks S T! It always amazes me how a passenger can walk right past you without acknowledging you. How hard is it to say "hi?" You are spot on with the call bell too! Too rude to say "hi" and so very entitled. Luckily it's a small percentage of pax. Even if I am having a terrible day I try to be respectful to those around me. I have heard a lot of the passenger horror stories during covid times, bad behavior is making the news more and more often. I hope people are being kind to you if you are flying now.
Jacqueline Travels I was a passenger on a repatriation flight from Peru to Toronto and from Toronto to Calgary. But I can’t say any one was rude or obnoxious. May everyone was just happy to out of a bad situation during this pandemic and glad to get home. Been on many, many flights and I never have or seen any problems. I am a person that sits down and never finds a fault and just pray to arrive safely to where I am going. Keep on smiling is a chosen profession with ups and downs.✈️🛫🛬
