THE CONSOLE WAR HAS BEGUN. 

Marketing Monday is honestly one of the most intriguing and interesting series I've watched. From the insight of what makes an ad good to understanding how game revenue is split all while still being able to make the video funny and entertaining. Atrioc just doesn't miss. I saw a post on LSF complaining about how games still have microtransactions even though they cost $60. After watching the Marketing Monday about it though I totally understand why developers do it.

You've hit such a juicy unexplored pocket of content with this series and I'm loving it. Keep it up!

I think something big to consider is brand loyalty and the convenience of being loyal. Ps4 players will want to keep their games and save their wallets instead of switching and leaving everything they have/experienced on PlayStation.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, the PSP could've been GOATED. Truly ahead of its time.

Absolutely incredible content. Glad youtube showed it to me. Earned a sub. Keep it up! I don't know if this type of content has broad appeal but regardless it's incredible and I haven't really seen anything like it. The fact that you only have 46K is somewhat surprising as I'm sure this is something at least most people are somewhat interested in. But that just might be me. I will be keeping a close eye. When a company is on top they only really lose because they get complacent and everybody else catches up (or you know they really screw up and almost/go bankrupt that's also an option). Sony seems to have learned their lesson with the ps3 and ps4 and went absolutely all out. While Xbox seems to be pushing hard with the amount of marketing, I find that the ps5 seems to have far, far more consumer interest than the Xbox just from casual conversation. Based on that alone, I can safely say Sony will win this one unless they literally can't make enough of them. That's actually a valid concern as TSMC seems to have become the new semiconductor monopoly at least for a few years. Xbox doesn't really have something that the ps5 doesn't (unlike the 360 days) and pc gaming will really eat into those xbox sales. Case and point a pc gamer would most likely buy a ps5 but not an xbox, due to said intercompatibility between xbox and pc gaming. Then you have me that buys these things 5 years later practically broken for dirt cheap and fixes them up, plays a single game on them and then flips them for $10 profit. While yes, pc gaming is a significantly smaller market than the consoles it has been consistently growing from a super niche thing to wide appeal as decently powerful gpus became far more ubiquitous. GTX 1060 anybody? How many of those were sold? 20-30million maybe more? The real dark horse in this race. An example of this would be corsair's seemingly never ending profits, while consoles seem to have plateaued in the past 20 years. Microsoft also seems to understand they won't win as they designed the Xbox with cloud gaming in mind so each an every one of those chips will hopefully come with a monthly recurring revenue stream. They sort of admitted defeat in saying as long as you own an xbox account on a windows platform you can play games. The xbox chips serve dual uses as cluster gpu focused server chips for microsoft's azure cloud. So if the console sales start to lack, all the excess goes into the datacenter. It's definitely a silent behind the scene gambit I think you would be proud of.

The Wii fooled me. There was Super Smash Bros., Red Dead Redemption, Zelda, and... yeah that's about it. I know I'm missing a few, but I really should of gotten an Xbox or PS when I was given the choice. I tried to pawn my Wii, when I was moving out of country, and the pawn shop was like "I can give you $20. I'm selling one for $40." It was $400 :(.

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I remember being a kid and everyone my age being BLOWN AWAY by the DS. it was all we wanted. if you asked anyone in my grade what they wanted for birthdays or christmases, it would be some sort of DS. it can also be pointed out that there was so much variety: the DS, the DSi, the DSXL, the 3DS, the 3DSXL, the 2DS.....and all of them came in different colors. it was revolutionary (and also affordable) and how a lot of people my age (18) got introduced to gaming.

I was born '94 and the DS and the PSP were huuuuuge. Real portable gaming for the first time. You could play in school and all night long without parents knowing. DS had pictochat which kids loved for any kind of sleepover/party/school trip. Also multiplayer with only one game card was revolutionary - Mario Kart with 8 people and only one needed the game!! PSP had internet access! Private unfiltered internet access as a kid... yep. Truly revolutionary consoles.

Even Steve Jobs wasn't this pretentious. Steve actually changed the world of communication, the Playstation and the Xbox are fucking consoles

I'm just going to say that the target audience for Xbox and ps5 are drastically different. You can't force someone to go to switch to your preferred console. That's not how it works. It's up to people themselves to choose what they want. If they grew up with an xbox 360 but then made the switch to ps4 then that's perfectly fine. Same for people that switched from ps3 to xbox one. Just let people enjoy things.

Valve had the better idea with a $600 device. Offer 3 different options... many people will look at the lowest options and then want to upgrade. Then they'll look at the middle option... and see the third option offers a lot more and many will just buy the $649 version even though they weren't willing to spend that much originally on a console. The smallest price makes it seem reasonable... then you convince yourself to spend more. Corporations have gotten a lot better on getting money out of people.

I no joke thought some of the Xbox ads were Sony ads. If I didnt wait to see master chief, and just press skip on the ad I would think it was a ad for ps5. Playstation has always been marketed as the console that reaches for the stars, lets you explore, learn, create. Where as xbox is FPS, shoot, Mountain Dew.

Bro imagine getting a ps5 for Spider-Man and not just waiting until like God of War or Demon Souls. Don’t get me wrong Spiderman is gonna be fire but like if it is available on ps4 then they aren’t pushing the limits of their hardware since they have to cater to ps4 users who buy it too. Idk just seems like not worth it at launch to me.
