For some reason a part of me feels like the fight between the n64 and ps1 would be that the n64 would put up a good fight between the ps1 and be more powerful then the ps1 but not be able to keep fighting to win against the ps1 because despite having more power they are not able to store enough power to unleash to defeat the ps1 and the ps1 would take a good amount of damage but still win and the n64 would die in the fight and then a certain verison 2 of the playstation would come out to destroy everything... I am over thinking this and I know it.

Each console has preformed well below Playstation or Nintendo's sales, with only really having a foothold in the US. Heck in total sales Sony surprisingly has only 42 million more hardware sales total in 7 consoles (586 million PS1-5 and PSP+Vita) than Nintendo has of just it's 5 handhelds (544 million GB, GBA, DS, 3DS, Switch) It's wild that everyone ignores the powerhouse of Nintendo despite it not just surviving but flourishing, with other consoles often emulating it to try to keep pace (D-pads, Rumble, Kinect, PS Move, Steam deck)

@@The31stcenturyfox I mean, the 360 managed to outsell the PS3 as a whole, but yeah, as a whole, Xbox can't sell as many as PlayStation since Japan is very xenophobic, and Europe in general is very loyal to PlayStation. The US is always very even about it though.

@@Freelancer837 You can't claim Xbox failed in Japan because of Xenophobia. It didn't know and continues to fail to understand the Japanese Market. When Nintendo came to the US it was very careful to change when it needed to suit North American needs and establish itself. Earning Trust From the NES front loader design to distance itself from the failed Atari to the choice to not use the real Super Mario Bros 2 and instead port another game as it instead. Wise choices. Xbox failed to understand the Japanese market when it first tried, using it's north American tactics and will never capture it, because the brand is damaged there.

@@OAlexisSamaO bruh... Honestly, do you really think, companies like Ubisoft, EA, Sega(to name very, very few) want to sell Cheaper? They are in this industry to make money. They kept the 60$ price even though they went completely digital. No more extra spending on CDs, plastic, manufacturing and distributing them. Now it's all digital and still kept the price. When scrutiny was brought around 2008-2012 to not increase prices, DLCs and loot boxes became a thing to make money. With THAT...i donno if it's better to pay 300$ total for a game over 3 years when all it's DLC is out or what would the market have been, had the original 60$ price had a flat increase BUT, that's why you have 3rd party sites where you can buy keys these days for way cheaper and sales on Distribution services like Steam. And let's put it another way. IF Steam was the problem, why Ubisoft, Rockstar created their own service? why did Activision buy Blizzard and move all their games on blizzard's service(besides the servers) ? yet, they still sell on steam. why? There are other platforms like GOG, or epic store, where you can buy from and dont need a steam account to activate your key and play.

And they had the N64 hold him back, lol what, the N64 sucked compared to the PS1, barely anyone made games for it because it has such out dated processing power. It had a rare few gems, out and of the small selection of games they had. PS1 had so much cool stuff back then.

@@TainyaGaming Nah fam the titles on N64 were legendary - ocarina of time was given a perfect score. Nintendo at the time was riding on their legendary properties as well. PS1 had a few gems and was the future in gaming tech and as a result had a slight edge on N64...plus they better catered to FPS and more mature games. And then...PS2 came out - Game cube tried to put up a fight but was beaten outright, while it had flagship titles that were great it failed in other aspects including poor functionality compared to PS2 and a poor roster - it was at that stage PS2 was completely on top and it's only real competitor was X-box I believe.

@@alface935 That was mostly due to how bad the Sega Saturn did prior, and the fact that the PS2 at the time was the cheapest DVD player on the market. Dreamcast going GD-ROM was a mistake. It was easy to pirate and it didn't have the benefit of playing DVDs when you didn't want to play games on it. It's a shame tho, the Dreamcast had the best games at the time, pound for pound.

Nintendo were fools, they not only went for the CD-i over what PlayStation was offering but they also took it to themselves to embarrass Sony in Press. Welp Sony removed them from the Traditional Home market for consoles in the end.

Also fun fact: Sony tried again with Sega to spite Nintendo. Sega of Americas accepted but Sega of Japan refused. Lack of faith in their ability to make video games apparently.

I didn't have a Dreamcast but a friend of mine did. That console was ahead of its time. PS1 and PS2 had far worse hardware than the N64 or GameCube/Xbox. It wasn't until PS3 that Sony actually had some good hardware. I think PS1 and PS2 basically survived on the ignorance of parents who didn't know any better. That and this weird thought process that Nintendo didn't have enough non-kiddy games, which was absolute BS.

Nintendo backstabbed??? True it could be looked at that way but you're missing a key important part. Sony contract stated Nintendo ips and properties soley belongs to them if they went ahead with the contract. Hence lead Nintendo to back out of the deal because it was not legally fair to them at the time. If Nintendo had stayed with the deal they would be Sony's first party studio now with less creative freedom. So in short thank god Nintendo "backstabbed" them.

@@ShadowHane I'm pretty sure Sony got the last laugh seeing how they were the first company to make a game console that actually sold 100 million units worldwide and Nintendo's been playing catch-up with them for years now. I'm happy that PlayStation as a brand exists and that it's still going strong, but at the same time, it makes you wonder what gaming would be like, nowadays if certain things or certain decisions worked out in some company's favor.
