This 3 String Fretless Cigar Box Guitar was built from an old RAILROAD TIE. It features both a Piezo and a Single Coil Pickup and an internal spring for natural reverb. The position markers are in alignment with the "natural harmonic order" of the strings as opposed to the "standard traditional fret positions". This guitar literally smells like the south side section of a north bound train!!! Yummy !!

I just saw your pic on the screen of a laptop in background in one of the customer project photos on the CB Gitty sight. You have no idea your influence on CBG culture. I think Gitty owes you some stock. You alone probably double his business. Haha. I just ordered the Chicago electric CBG, and other stuff from them yesterday. Your blues video inspired me to do this. Now I have to know 4 different sets of instrument chords and scales darn you. Three was tough enough.

The internal spring for reverb is a neat idea. I think your harmonic method created a just intonation scale, rather than equal temperament scale, which is why your dots and the scale didn't line up.

It’s fretless!!! Sounds good. Love the E B E tuning. I did a 33 inch scale fretless and trying D G D tuning.

Hi, great work!! My next guitar will have the same pickups - single coil and under the bridge pickup. Will use a half of a 10 liter Diesel can for the body (because the hole can is to thick) . Keep on. Greetings from Germany Uli

Just picked up a CBG at a yard sale. Thought it was cool but have no idea how to play. Now I at least know I need a slide and how to tune the strings

I love how you keep building then keep tapping yourself. It is so good to do that in any craft. Creosote is some nasty stuff. You might not want to use a RR tie next time.

Adjust your position of the bridge. It isn't right. Measure from nut to the 12th fret. Divide that number in half. Measure again from the 12th fret position to the body, with the half number you got. Then place your bridge there.

@@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar Measure the half number from the 12th fret. To the body and place your bridge on that distance. You measured from the nut to the 12th ? Divid it in half. That is the distance you use from 12th to the body and place your bridge there

Adjust your bridge and the nut to the template, and the harmonics will line up with the template. (If the template is accurate.)

I don't think so. Are you familiar with the term "just intonation"? The frets of the guitar, like the strings of the piano, are adjusted to equal temperament instead of just intonation.

Awesome build. How are you getting the pickup and piezo to play nice? I don't see any blending pot...really just one pot....is the signal split and sent two places after the jack? Is the piezo getting filtered or phantom powered? I am so full of questions!

So to figure this out, I'm guessing that you tuned strings, then found harmonic for one string, marked it. Then adjusted the bridge angle (length) for the other 2 strings where their harmonic landed on the mark. Is this right?

Do the nails line up with the fret just above the dot? If so, then they are correct- the nails should align with the fret, not the dot.

@@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar totally agree, but on a fretted fingerboard the harmonic resides above the fret, not the dot. That's why I was asking. When you laid your fret template over the neck to compare placement, it seemed as though you were expecting the nails to line up with the dots, but the dots are not where the harmonic resides. As I look at the video again, I can see your nail heads align with the fret which would be correct.

I like the idea of the tuning to harmonics. However, I don't understand why you take the 57mm between the last two nails and use it for the other positions. What harmonic does this give? BTW I wish I could still get creosote for my fences!!!

I had some bad rattle on the last guitar I made, after about 20 minutes of trying to figure out where it was coming from, I discovered that it was the sleeve button on my shirt. Always roll up the sleeve on your playing hand!
