I'm surprised an official port on neither the PSP and Vita exists. The game is so bite-sized and a quick fun time, that a handheld version would be perfect, heck it would even fit on the DS/3DS
I find it so bizarre that Simpsons games have just stopped. It's like they have no idea how much people love this game, and the next one too (not as loved but still).
I think it may be because EA has the rights at the moment and since Tapped Out came out over a decade ago that game may still be printing money for them so they probably see no point in investing in other games when they can milk the mobile game.
@@JeskidoYT They're not forced to do anything. They're just playing it safe printing money from their crappy mobile game rather than making a new game or buying back the old license for the H&R remake/remaster. The classic star wars games (now owned by Disney btw) have and still are getting both remakes and remasters even tho they appeal to a somewhat niche community. EA doesn't care.
I like it better seeing it on the actual handheld screen like this when it's a homebrew port showcase. I also prefer when it's being held for the camera rather than played with another control.
g'day Jon, i've had the Nintendo Switch port of this game on my OLED for a fair few months now. it loads fast, is 16:9 and 720p handheld/1080p docked, seems to be 60fps stable, and has had all the buttons updated to be Switch icons plus i can play it using my DualSense Edge. definitely a highlight of the Switch homebrew scene.
I ran it side by side on my Vita and Switch. Unfortunately I don't have an OLED switch, but regardless, image quality is a bit better on Vita. There seems to be no AA in the Switch version. Framerate is better on Switch.
This is the closest thing we ever get to playing the game on a modern console or handheld. A remaster of The Simpsons Hit & Run is what I really want out of all video games! And it’s great to see someone from the GVG crew play one of my favourite video games of all time!
I'm literally mad that my OLED Vita charge port finally stopped functioning after over 10 years a few years ago (or that it took so long for this port to happen but lol)
Even though it’s mostly known as a PS2 game, the PS2 version of Hit and Run is by far the worst version of the game. The PC, Xbox and GameCube versions all run far better.
@@occono3543 Emulators are awesome, but official releases just feel better somehow. And this game doesn't need to be emulated, it already has a PC port and I hear a very big modding community.
The Simpsons Hit & Run is one of my favourite games, despite having never beaten it! Sadly I do not have a PS Vita but I shall still admire the work put into this port! I’ll just have to somehow get the PC version running on my Steam Deck
Your left joystick not working should definitely be a side effect from something, maybe the ds4 connected to the vita or something else; didn't try with a dualshock at the same time it was running on my vita when I've beta tested it for Zeno You should always oc for this port like for almost all of android/pc ones
Battle for Bikini Bottom got a remaster and Goldeneye got rereleased so licenses can be worked around. Here's hoping the holders can see what we all see in the value of this game.
A switchport is the dream, for this, & so many ps2/3 era games (mine's still Remember Me & Xenoblade X, tho i could hold off on an X port for the switch 2)
@@watchmejumpstart24 You can DMCA literally anything, its essentially a very strong bluff. At least its finished so its they can comply and avoid any legal scrutiny
@@watchmejumpstart24the port is created thanks to leaked source code, if I understood the beginning of this video correctly. SC is copyrighted content and can’t be modified or reused without the owners permission. Not like anyone legally probably cares about Hit and Run still, I imagine it’s abandonware
@@GVGA few days ago, a group of people started working on a port of GTA 3 for the Dreamcast, which means that the game Simpsons: Hit & Run could also run on the DC with some adaptation?😮🤔🤔🤔🤔
I mean, yes it could, all they gotta do is port it if they have the source code. This takes time but has nothing to do with whether the 3DS can handle it or not.
Battle for bikini bottom and spongebob movie would've been much more relatable to mod and have decomp ports on handhelds for at least paying respect to the decline of 3D platformers and lack of evolution why interactive variety that isnt the same small amount of mechanics are important that it's very redundant modding as well as cheaply gaining a head start modding simpsons hit and run with its leaked source code that should've been taken down when we could literally copy the same small content this game has into other 3D platformers even all gta content and it raises flame wars of who decides to make a game obsolete based on incentive on what they have early when modding is very difficult and its only worth it working on a few games. I wouldn't agree on seeing simpsons hit a run a masterpiece and it's not better than most kids licensed games for having small amount of interactive content with no compelling challenges ruined by revisiting areas too much in newer missions making no difference if we know the layout and the overeliance on basic driving and spending the whole game with only 3 single loaded maps that gets tiresome very fast and is an example of Padding for a open world map design that there is nothing interesting to continue talking about this especially not for non fans of the show. I just want my own large community away from too many unnecessary games receiving game mods and ports and should understand what is much more worth it to mod for a meaningful feeling when modding too many games that have similarities and reminds of one genre are very redundant why my community would've lost incentive.
