Hi there. This is the Big Push's interpretation of an old African American Gospel song about running from judgement day. It was first recorded in the 50s by several singers/bands before Nina Simone recorded it in 1965. Nina's version is phenomenal. There is also an awesome live recording called 'Nina Simone Sinnerman' posted by Nikita Smakov. It's an instrumental jazzy version with Nina playing piano and then dancing to mesmerising drum solos. Well worth a look. She is a goddess.
That x Song x got me thru some dark times x she had a complicated experience with x Motherhood x and yet x She was such x a Gift to the World x nor unlike #sineadoconnor #ninasimone x x Goddesses Both x
We're all broken records when it comes to Ren and TBP, but it's fun to watch it together! I usually avoid videos with poor audio, but I make an exception for these guys, because they are such a pleasure to watch, and they are always switching things up. I appreciate you posting these.
Same! We get spoiled that ren is a little vid of an audio snob and masters even the live performances before he posts, but it’s just too fun to watch them!
These boys crack me up! Great jamming🎉 I was laughing with you Shae with Ren’s instant response to the sirens 🚨 Gotta love and appreciate his clever and quick witted authentic self 😂 This was an unexpected surprise, haven’t seen it before and extra enjoyable watching it together👍🏻
@@RikaShae Yes, that was one of the wonders for me when I first saw Big Push on the street. I got to know Big Push for the first time, and I was enchanted by the fact that Ren is on the street and somewhere in the sky at the same time. Then I started investigating who this young guy was.
Okay, I was not ready for that siren improv 😂 Ren is just different. Lucky that the rest of the band seemed to be used to it, cause I don’t think I could have kept playing like that if it was me 😂
Yay you got around to this one!! I’d almost forgotten. Been wanting someone to do a reaction to this! It’s Nina Simone Sinnerman, though Ren of course puts his own spin on it! I think the lyric in Seven Sins may be a reference to this.
@@RikaShae did Tyler send that to you? If so, it came from me. In Seven Sins “sinner man sinner man, irony could kill a man” maybe a call back to the Nina Simone song? 🤷🏼♀️
@@katrogers28 It might have been sent to me as well, but this was randomly in my feed. Someone sent me a really rare BigPush one, and they said to shout out who sent it, but I can’t find where I got that message from 🤦🏼♂️
@@RikaShae oh I don’t care about a shout out, was just kinda curious. But glad it found its way to you one way or another! The siren is awesome! Love seeing them just have fun!
I love the Big Push jamming together and having fun. Ren does an amazing job mastering The Big Push videos. You can always tell when the video is not put out by the Big Push. Thank you for reacting to this video.
Aww Shae no worries, I think anyone here feels the same… I don’t think individually or collectively any people has given me as much musical pleasure as they have… love it! Thanks! 🫶🏻
It's the freedom and jamming that cannot be replicated in a studio recording that shows the soul of music in these guys. Live always tops studio for my ears. Even with imperfections live is always better.
I tried to link it but yt removed the comment. It was 28mins in on Gorran's video from 8 days ago called After The Big Push. He explained the guitar strap change on the Wade in the Water busking video and why it was necessary because of how Ren plays compared to every other bassist.
Hey RikaShae It’s Nina Simone, I love Ren likes Nina, an amazing amazing musician and singer, very sad life though, she was treated badly, personal life and politically, she was 100% a weapon though she was a strong black woman that commanded respect, I respect her for that and for her music. ❤️🙏 How good is it REN is collaborating with Prof and also Webby….. exciting times bro
