Thanks man! That means a lot! Jesus has always been genuine with me and so just doing that wherever I go with whatever I'm doing! Glad the video helped. If you got something else you would like to see just let me know. I'm always taking suggestions.
Fun fact: If you are a right handed guitar player and use left handed scissors to cut your Velcro, your guitar will forever play out of tune. Just saying.
Paul Gilbert puts the hook (hard) side on the board and the loop (soft) side on the pedal. He says it's so in case he has to put the pedal on a piece of furniture the softness won't mar the finish. If it's good enough for Paul Gilbert, it's good enough for everybody.
I do that also for two other reasons. 1- The loop side wears out quicker. since I change pedals often I put the hook on the board since my board never changes. 2- the pedals do not stick to carpet/fabrics with the soft side on them.
Interesting wow! GOOOOD to know! I never take my pedals off. Probably why I have not figured that out yet lol! For someone who changes a lot that would be good to do. What kind of board do you have?
It really is. I do not think they are making it as well either. If you change pedals a lot and want something that will last I recommend Vertex Effects PGV-10 PowerGrip Pedal Fastener. I don't think they make anything bad in my opinion. On this pedal board in particular it is so big I just wheel it around. If you carry it like a brief case, travel a LOT, and are swapping pedals a lot, you cannot go wrong with the Vertex Effects PGV-10 PowerGrip Pedal Fastener. One of the BEST things you will find.
I probably would do 1/2 of the long strip at a time. It would seem to be easier to do a “smaller” strip at a time. But I’m JUST starting on my first pedal board. I did get a 32 inch pedal board, so I have a wide board.
Quick tip, ditch the blow dryer. You can use the smooth side of the peel you get from the velcro to rub up and down the length super fast. The friction gets it super hot, and helps make that bonding effect you'd get with the heat from the dryer
@@josephallen241 it's a bit tricky with the hard velcro, but with the soft it works like a dream. One thing to try maybe would be using the peel on the soft and applying it while the hard sits in your pocket and it absorbs your body heat
Well!!! that definitely helps if you do not have electricity cool!!!!! Is there a video or something on youtube with a guy doing this? Sounds neat!!!!!
I Know... I get it! Stuff does get expensive. Got to save every penny lol! The vast majority of musicians in the real world don't make millions... me being one of them lol! What a cool way to do it without a blow dryer! Thanks for sharing!!!!
That's the way I do it with the velcro I just did it cuz I felt like it but it works very well and I have a way bigger board and those pedals do not come off even without the blow dryer but I'm glad somebody else does the same thing I do
Awesome man! Yeah I know! It does work really well especially when you do not want them to come off. What kind of Board do you have? No, you are not alone lol!
@@josephallen241 ghost fire I think 18 inch I got I wanna say 14 pedals I had 9 last year lol it was inspired by Morello and used the same pedals for about 15 years then added slowly lol
@@josephallen241 that's honestly a tough one I have Guitar-tuner-compresser-phase 90-ts808 tubescreamer-wah-whammy -amp (Just got a be overdrive deluxe haven't tried it really yet bc amps in shop) Fx loop--wah-chorus-flanger-tremolo-noise supressor-reverb-delay I have to say it's tough to pick one but I could never go without a whammy rest are kinda used by everyone not too many use that guy lol Great question I never was asked that 😂
Dude that's some NICE stuff!!!! LOVE it!!!! Some of my favorites would be tonewood for my acoustic, micro expression knobs, and seraphim Neunaber. They do not make the seraphim any more but you can find it on reverb. In my opinion the best reverb pedal ever. I love percussion fingerstyle so I have to make it sound BIG lol! I am more Brazilian than American so English can be a little tricky for me some times. What do you mean by a whammy rest? English is not my first language lol!
I'm sorry I do not understand your question. Are you talking about the pedal train? My pedal train is not wood. I have some friends that do wood pedal trains and they are HEAVY lol but look WAY nicer. This technique works with wood. I do not know about foam. I have not tried that before. You can always put a little piece on and a pedal and see how it holds up. I am not sure. Anyone tried that before?
I'm confused....How many other ways than this is there to install velcro? I find the blow dryer unnecessary myself but what are the "other ways of trying to do this?
Well if you use velcro this will be the best way. Velcro is a cheaper way to attach your pedals to your pedal board. If you do not want velcro, power grip to this point is my favorite but it is more expensive. The reason I use the blow dryer is because this causes the velcro to melt and bond to the board and the pedal. Velcro loves to attach and re-attach when the temperature gets hotter or colder. This can cause your pedals to shift, move around in the case, or even fall off the velcro. If you are traveling and it is not secure it can get thrown around depending what case you have. I do not bond the velcro to a rare pedal. I do use power grip because it does not leave residue on the pedal. if you use velcro you really do not want to move your pedals around. If you take a lot of pedals on and off your board I would recommend going for power grip. I do not move pedals around so it works well for me. This pedal board is like a boat so it also always lays flat. I never carry it around like a brief case.
I have know a guy that plays like that. I'm a lefty but I learned the guitar right handed because I didn't want to play upside down and did not want to be able to play on only left handed guitars. Makes it really hard when you borrow some one's guitar lol! Can you play Joe. Yeah sure you got a left handed guitar? lol
Thanks so much for this demo. Been using processors for decades but in the process of switching over to pedals. And don't feel bad. I can't use lefty scissors to save my life 😅
Absolutely of course! I'm glad it helped. Oh man, do not get too much into the habit of buying too many pedals haha! You can have too much of a good thing haha!
Ok. I get the heat thing but wouldn't it be easier if you put down the velcro and then apply the heat thereafter? At first the metal will act as a heat sink but when they both heat up it should be mission accomplished. Also, methinks I will wipe the board down with a little isopropyl alcyhol first (and let it dry of course).
I'll tell you what is WAY easier is using a heat gun instead of a blow dryer. WOW it goes soooooooo fast compared to this. I used the blow dryer because it is more common for most people to have.
You would be correct!!! ABSOLUTELY! wiping down your board first is the best way to do it! I did not because I had literally just pulled it out of the box and its plastic covering. It was already super clean. BUT cleaning over it again is always a good idea and probably better. :)
Sorry I do not understand. By stick the power supply to the pedal are you talking about the pedal Board? If so what kind of pedal board do you have, if you have a pedal board.
@@josephallen241 I have the RD B2 Joyo Pedal Board, and I was wondering how to stick the power supply correctly. I mean, I know I can use velcro as well, but I was thinking of the best position so it can work properly.
Awesome, for the power supply you have I would not put it under neath your pedal board. I mean, you can try but I believe the magnetic field would catch some interference from your pedals. If you are tight on space you could put it underneath but I believe depending where you are at could really make a LOT of unwanted noise. You can test it. Normally depending on the type of power supply you have to give them a little space from your pedals and not under neath. Some can and some can't but I believe that cannot go under neath.
I know you said to be nice but I mean this in the most constructive way but this video could have been 2 and a half minutes long. Most of the way I was hitting the right-arrow to keep jumping ahead. But I appreciate your work. I needed to know which side to put on the board and how helpful using a blower dryer is. Only thing I would do different is cut the length ahead of time and heat up that length.
Don't disagree with that! But velcro is still good. I don't sell my pedals or move them around so having velcro on them doesn't bother me. The velcro I got is very high grade. You are right you can get really bad velcro. That's very interesting! I'll have to do a video on that! 3M dual lock is a newer idea but I'm a BIG fan! Thanks for introducing them to me!
I once used 3m dual lock and never again! Damaged some pedals when trying to get them of! Needed a screwdriver to get them off! Its just too strong, even when using just a small bit..
if you are willing to spend a little more power grip does a nice job. Basically has two ends like velcro but one side is larger and the other side smaller so it grabs WAY more. You can easily take it off of the pedal and it leaves NO reside. WONDERFUL!
Man, That is soooo true!!! That's why I just put velcro all over the board. I am not gonna lie. I measured soooo many times before I got one haha! Are you speaking from experience? I hope not. It can be soo terrible to get into a situation like that!
People have been telling me that. I will definitely have to order some and give it a try. Why do you like locking velcro better? It's all right man haha! I love the soft velcro. Hasn't failed me yet never has come off. But I do not pull my pedals on and off of my board either.
