@@curtisdrummerellerbe9544 Happens often in tv and movies. Actors that are supposed to be parents and children are only a few years apart in real-life.
@@CamilleNadia no... Claire was wrong to take Sondra's children without her permission. She may have been right that they shouldn't have been around her, but she was wrong to take that action without permission.
@@WiGgYof09 which is what the point was to the show. today mask issues and COVID19. This speaks volumes!! No permission to do anything. it is just like people being fired today bc of their job forcing this as mandatory. Telling us to do 10 to 14 days at home inside. like we dont need the sun to shine on us for VITAMIN D!! AND vit C from plants!!!
"I am talking!" Yep, Sondra definitely learned from the Claire Huxtable School of Parenting. I would like to have seen Sondra with the twins as teenagers.
Loll but they did her a favor. She was sick and wanted to take them out of her hands till she got better. If I was her husband id call them apologize for her rant. It ain’t like they took them in her sleep. They went over there in front of her and then later decided she wanted to change her mind.
@@KCGainz Yes, that annoyed me. She AGREED to let them take the babies so that she could rest, then lets Elvin get her riled up to the point of acting as though they'd kidnapped them. No one came off good in this episode.
Well at this point Sandra was new to motherhood and she felt like she could do it all take care to kids while sick. She wanted to do it all and she had that right to do it all if that’s what she wanted to do.
Elvin did the smartest thing to do what his wife said. What many women miss is that Cliff and Sondra had *every right* to call out the total hypocrisy of how Claire and Elvin's mother used an excuse to kidnap their grandchildren, when all they had to do was ask Sondra. That entitlement they felt is a very real thing that certain women feel, and Clair and Elvin's mother getting called out was proof that the best years of this series were after feminist producer Marcy Carsey had no more creative input.
As much as I respect the Cosby show, I have to disagree with this assessment. This was one of the shows that started an unfortunate, unfair and really, irresponsible trend and generalization in family sitcom’s where the mother is seen as the smarter, sobering, essentially head of the household and the father is seen as the dumber, more inept, imbecilic follower of the 2.
What does does ANY of this have to do with a "feminine agenda"? Or are you one of those moronic conservatards that dwell on the internet night and day 🙄🙄🙄
Jaleesa Trevelyan In this case, its a different story because these are her children. Had it been something else, and most of the time it is, Claire would've had the last word.
I cannot think of any episode where Clair get check like that. Through out the whole series. But their is a first for everyone. It's okay Clair take this L real quick. Lol
This is the ONLY time we ever see Clair being told off and she backs down....Sondra is so much like her mother. Even better is she's telling off her mother and mother-in-law at the same time.
This had NOTHING to do with covid. The flu, common cold, bronchitis, and so on and so forth have BEEN around for a very long time. In this episode she was diagnosed with bronchitis or something. And her dad advised her to wear a mask around the children to keep them from catching it. Claire got mad at him, and said that a mask wasn't good enough to protect the kids. And that she didn't need to be around them at all while being sick. And she was upset because they took her children without her permission, and still exposed them to germs. But this had absolutely NOTHING to do with Covid. So, I wish people stop talking about it in the comments. People speak on covid like it's God or something. And like it's the only illness that someone can get or something. SMH.
Different rules of the game. This isn’t a teen talking back to a mother. This is a grown woman with twins who had her children taken from her by her mother who then proceeded to do things with them without permission. Claire had it coming and rightfully deserved being talked like that.
This is also the only time in the entire series when anyone stands up to Clair and Clair backs down. Every other attempt ends with Clair coming back out on top.
How can u stand up to anyone when ur usually in the wrong about things. Vanessa was basically the problem child out the bunch or should i say the rebellious one. Sondra had a point and Clair was wrong which is why she didn't say anything back to Sondra. I get your point that Sondra did have guts to talk to her mother in a way that none of her other children would dear do. But Vanessa just wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
@@reesemoney I wouldn't say Vanessa is the problem Child. I would say that was Denise. Also Theo was more of the rebellious one. Vanessa was just the one who ended up with the most problems.
sorry, but I'm with Sondra on this one. They went over there and tried to act like they were going to do what they wished no matter what Sondra said. Yes, they had good intentions, but Sondra was sick and Melvin got her all riled up. you don't fuck with a mother's child. Clair and Melvins mom tried to charm their way out of it, didn't fly. Lol The ONLY reason Clair allowed Sondra to speak that way to her was because she knew she was in the wrong. she admitted that afterwards to cliff. lol
+I broke the mold ahhhhhhhhhh, ya brother chews bubble gum!!!!! I know it's just a show. if you keep that kind of attitude towards tv shows, it kind of takes the fun out of them. now why don't u make me shut the fuck up, douche bag!
+I broke the mold ahhh u responded. I'm happy. it shows u care. ;) for someone talking about emotions why on earth do YOU care how I react to things? U got really emotional as well by telling me to shut the fuck up. I loom forward to hearing your reply....this is how all the great relationships of our time start. xD
greenlee7smythe lol. Reverse psychology doesn't work on people with a brain dear. I responded because that is how social media works.... Genius. You see that cute little box that says "COMMENT????" That's where thoughts & opinions are applied. Isn't it amazing?!?!? Google it. Rotflmfaooooooo!!!!!!
WOW!! A mother knows what's best for her child/children. Not the grandparents, not the State, not the Federal Government, not CNN, and definitely, not the Biden Administration. The parent knows what is best for their children. #2021.
Claire is always so annoyingly perfect and always right in just about every scene she's in, so it feels SO good to see her taken down a peg for once. And the actress who played Sondra did a fantastic job channeling Claire's energy. You definitely felt like they were related!
“You are confused”-That was a good line!!! It was GOOD that Sondra put her foot down, seeing that mother and mother-in-law didn’t have the curtesy and respect to even ask Sondra if they could take their babies to of all places, a BEAUTY SALON where there are germs flying around!! And these two mothers were so “concerned about SONDRA having germs!!! any case maybe Sondra came on too strong with the threat! It’s a wonder Clair didn’t decide not to let her daughter back in any time soon until Sondra apologized for that ABRASIVE behavior! - Putting her foot down as a protective mother is one thing… such a harsh threat is another!!
Although it was dishonoring of Sondra to tell her mother off, she owned Clair,...BUT GOOD!! They were Sondra's kids, but she could've handled that respectfully.
No, Sandra was wrong and confused due to her illness. They only took the kids away because he was sick and highly contagious and she gave them permission.
Note the Meaningful Background Event of Cliff nodding in approval at Sondra's rant. He *knew* or *suspected* all along that this would be the result of Clair's actions and is *100%* on his daughter's side.
Clare had that coming. She is a good mother however she was in the wrong here. Cliff told her there was nothing to worry about and he is a doctor but she didn’t listen to him and she got Elvin’s mom involved which was worse. What Sandra said is try, Clare didn’t want the twins to get sick but she and Elvin’s mom took them to the beauty salon where they could get sick. I don’t blame Sandra for acting like that. She gave Clare a taste of her own medicine
