cant wait for the next two elantris novels. Sel is arguably the strongest planet, the limits on what can be done with the Dor, or lack there of is nuts.

I always assumed the reason its very hard to reach sel through the cognitive realm is because of the way the 2 shards residing there were shattered and explosive effect of accessing the Dor. If I recall correctly the Dor is like a highly pressurized air tank, when you release some of the pressure it comes bursting out like a fire hose. Dahkor sure sounds a lot like another magic system we are all very familiar with... can twist and modify the body... requires human sacrifice...

Yeah when he was describing it I thought "A lot of that sounds an awful lot like hemalurgy..." but then he mentioned the teleporting thing and that kinda left me a little stumped

You have to take into account the aspects of the Shards. Devotion and Domination. Raoden wasn't special from birth, but as he spent more time in Elantris and earned the devotion of the Elantrians, his power increased. Same with Domination Wyrms Domination is what alsos them to channel more of the door.

Wyrm is an aspect of autonomy, not domination. Reread the mistborn, and look at the set up and the way the Set was arranged. Then go reread how wyrm and friends work.

I always got the idea that Sando intended to return to Cel much sooner but with the success of mistborn ended up shifting his energies.

Dude - Great video. First time to hit your channel and this was perfect for where I’m at. I’ve read almost all of the Cosmere books, but like you, Elantris was one of my first and I’ve forgotten almost everything. I’ve been trying to go back and reread for the specific purpose of finding these Cosmere connections, but struggling to do so. This video has given me the push I needed to put my nose to the grind. Great work. Thanks again!

I started with Elantris before any other Sanderson novels and I loved it! I think the idea of it is awesome and I've reread it a couple times. My controversial take is I thought it was better than Warbreaker, I thought that was his weakest book by far.

I know someone else in the comments just stated 'hemalurgy,' but I do think there is a connection between the Dahkour bone-monks and hemalurgy. The fact that it involves sacrifice made me suspect it on my last read-through, especially since it's been confirmed that hemalurgy does work Cosmere wide, and is not limited to allomantic and feruchemic abilities. Maybe the spiritual connection to the Dor of 50 people provides a measure of protection from the Dor? That said, none of the Dahkour monks seem to be spiked, so I'm kinda stumped there. Could be small spikes embedded in the bones? I have a feeling the next Sel book will clear most of this up, though.

Also , book two on sel is gonna be called Dahkour (spelling, its been a while) He plans on writing era 3, at once, then releasing era 3 book 1, elantris 2, era 3 book 2, etc etc etc

One last thing, the bone magic, plays a role in the emperors soul (the bone creatures that get blood stamped) and is likely the 13th aether on Lumar, the bone spore. Which i wouldn't be shocked to learn all has to to do with white sand and autonomy

Seons gotta be the mark of another shard once being on Sel. They're just way different from all the other magic there.

Nope. Seons and Skaze are the exact same type of Entity as Spren. They wouldn’t exist if Dominion and Devotion weren’t Splintered by Odium and (My theory only) Autonomy. Seons are Splinters of Devotion and Skaze are Splinters of Dominion…

The idea has been floated that the lake that dissolves the mad Elantrians (Hoed? Hoaden?) is a partial Perpendicularity. My theory is that when the Shards are...shattered? The perpendicularity on that world gets a little wonky. See the Novella where Kelsier gets to the one and hangs out with Mist for so long. And most important in my mind is Warbreaker's world, the Shard actively has banned Hoid since he left after being the Storyteller in that book. Her active involvement in the Perpendicularity is the reason for the flowers that make the dye in the world so powerful. How all these waters are involved in Shadesmear I think will be the main focus for the next quintuplet.

Could the Mysteries be linked to the Moon Sceptre from The Emperor's Soul (also set on Sel, but in the Rose Empire (see "Rose Barbarians?" on the Elantris map in the north west)) maybe? Apart from that, great video, great catch with the Autonomy stuff o.o

WHAT I never would have thought to connect the religion of Jaddeth and the organization of the suits on Scandal, how long has Autonomy been at this?! I've done re-listen a while ago but that was before all the secret projects and not I want to go back and pay more attention to side characters that are confirmed to be main characters in the later Elatris sequels and the magic systems

The red eyes seem to correspond to the red "enlightened" spren, similarly to how black mist/smoke correspond to investiture that has been destroyed.

Never really thought about it but why were Dominion and Devotion together when Odium shattered them? Maybe because Devotion needed someone to be devoted to and Dominion wanted to... dominate her? It would be a really dark place if that relationship had been allowed to continue. Odium did the right thing

I think the hard to access part of SEL comes from the Dor being a raging storm no? Unless it says it’s a very recent thing?

I believe that the shards were splintered in the cognitive realm and created a massive power storm that is super deadly close to the perpendicularities. This makes it extremely hard (not impossible) to cross through to sel from the cognitive realm.

It makes sense. From what brandan has said. The plan past SLA5 is to do... all of Mistborn era 3 and Elantris 2 and 3 are his fun breaks between writing the trillogy. Then back half stormlight

Is that shirt about some right-wing political stuff? I'm so bummed man. I was really enjoying the channel and then I looked up from what I was doing and saw the shirt. Now I'm not sure this is a place that's right for me. I see somebody else down in the comments calling out the shirt and asking about a discord and that gives me a BIG old Jan 6th vibes. You sound like a big fan of the Cosmere, sir, and I was excited at first to find the channel, but I think I may have to move on. Such a confusing element added in the mix.

Don't trip Zach, do you. This thurban guy is trippin, who cares what your real world political beliefs are when we are discussing made-up fantasy novels. And according to the response, his wife bought him that shirt. I've been married. If your wife buys you a shirt, you put it into regular rotation. And, so the f what. If he is a die hard trump supporter, does that somehow change what he is saying about the cosmere.
