The cost of healthcare in Mexico (Dental, hospital, and BOTOX)

One of the biggest reasons we decided to move to Mexico was for our health. In this video, I share about my experiences with various types of healthcare services throughout Mexico and, of course, how much they cost. Things like dental services, seeing a doctor for food poisoning, seeing a specialist for a chronic illness, physical therapy, and even botox.

Wow, that was a lot of information, thank you. I have had a few encounters with mexican healthcare. For the most part they have been OK, but I have had a negative experiences as well. Unfortunately one dentist took advantage of my mom with dental implants. The biggest thing I have learned is always make sure you get refences.

Jenny, thank you for sharing. My biggest food poisoning event was also in Chiapas. It was in Palenque. We went on a tour and lunch was part of the package. The lunch was a buffet and was very tasty. However, Palenque is very hot and humid. Luckily, I was able to get a consultation and the medicine helped. However, we ended going back to San Cristobal where the weather was much cooler.

Aw, ouch! Food poisoning sucks. Chiapas has a lot of water contamination issues as well so it's unfortunately common to catch stomach bugs there.

thank you so much for all this information and honesty. i agree on communication and personal service compared to USA doctors. you can't even talk to doctors in USA, you always have to deal with nurses or PTs in between you and the doctor. so to have the doctor WhatsApp me here was amazing! prices are reasonable, appointments aren't weeks away and yes, more doctor to patient time that we aren't used to in the states. i have had similar experiences as you and your video just confirmed that it tends to be the norm. really reassuring when things go awry. thanks again, i'm a new subscriber and really appreciate your perspectives. salud!

Hola! Great info Jenny. Visited Playa del Carmen for about 5 wks October-November. Been there a few times....In part I went to heal from a snow shoveling accident from February '23..Had been doing therapy 3xs a week for nearly 4 months for lower back, thigh/glute pain. "Accident" was also causing digestive problems...Had been getting better but not well.... Went to pharmist in Playa. She prescribed some meds to use for two weeks. $15 USD. Other SMART people suggested I soak/exercise in Caribe for at least an hour daily...I did. Couole times even on Red Flag days...Within 3 wks my body was back to normal. My experience of Mexican health care over a decade is very positive. The approach is different than USA.........Talk about "oversharing".😅 Great to see and hear you. Loving of you to give Kevin a rest.

Like you Jenny I have been dealing with a lot and I finally went to a Dr here in Puerto Vallarta. Mind blowing how easy it is to get medial treatments down here and how affordable it is. 2 Dr visits, many many blood tests and an ultrasound of my entire abdomen and I am only $550cdn in. I knew my test results in less than 24 hours and I knew the results of my ultrasound before I left the room as the Dr tells you what they are seeing as they are doing it. So far very impressed! Hope you are feeling better Jenny! Keep running Kevin!

Very informative video, thanks for sharing! Please let us know how Botox works for your grinding, my daughter has been grinding her teeth for 30 years and no one has ever suggested Botox. When you were filming on the street, I saw you look distracted for a few seconds but had to watch again to see a smiling Kevin jog by, lol. Being open about your medical conditions is really helpful to others, especially the fibromyalgia, because as you mentioned many doctors like to brush it off as "all in your head". I'm so glad that you have found these wonderful doctors who are helping you get well!

It’s definitely much more affordable to pay out of pocket in Mexico than it is to pay with insurance in the US, at least for us. The plan is for us to get insurance eventually but it’ll probably be private insurance. The public insurance and public health system has its positives and negatives. You pay a little more for the private services but you get access much more quickly and often better quality technology and resources.

Ole Jen. I am very sorry about the complications youre experiencing with your health. I too encountered either the same and more problems from life in general, military and giving birth just to keep it short! Random times of spinal cord injuries that took toll on my nervous system that baffled a nany doctors. Anyhow, I got rid of most of my health issues from spiritual deliverance. Yea, thats right, lol.. generational demons plaguing the blood line! Not to sound koo-koo crazy, but its a thing! 🎉 ill leave it at that. I am a believer in Jesus and had spent thousands of $$ chasing after cures! Jesus died so that we wouldnt have to suffer, Isiah 53, vs 4 & 5. Well, im over sharing. Richard Lorenzo amd Daniel Adams says it best. Daniel is a white guy pastor that has video's on youtube in case you're curious. I can only prayer that you seek the Lord for your health concerns, it costs you nothing but your time! ❤ God bless, ill be keeping you lifted up. 🙏

It’s not that koo-koo! This world is a mysterious place and it’s always surprising us. Healing is more than physical, it’s also mental, emotional and spiritual ✨

I saw Botox and I thought “she already looks young and pretty, why is she getting Botox?!?” Then saw the video…didn’t know there are other uses for it

I didn’t know either! It was cool to learn about it and I’m about a month in now and my jaw pain has basically disappeared! Headaches too

@@EatBailaTravel I had to look it up and apparently it’s also used for “to treat neck spasms, sweating, overactive bladder, lazy eye and other conditions. Botox shots also may help prevent migraine”. Glad to hear it’s worked for your pain! 🦷 😀

a huge thing with going to Mexico for ANY medical care is there is no tort law, so you have no legal recourse if they destroy your health or kill you like you do in the US because you can't sue them over there and the court system in Mexico is extremely corrupt too in general, you can't file a wrongful death lawsuit and seek monetary damages or general tort damages

The US is known as “La Tierra de las Demandas” the land of lawsuits (along many other nicknames lol). You’re right, it’s not as easy to pursue a lawsuit in Mexico. But we all take calculated risks for our health.

@@EatBailaTravel the media loves to publicize frivolous lawsuits but it’s Tort law in the US that has kept many businesses honest and alleviated tons of wrongs and sufferings through lawsuits. It’s a necessary evil. The worst thing is to be permanently damaged without recourse.

Ummm ok....Then don't do it yourself.....I sense a lot of negativity from you....why even think of suing for a wrongful death? gosh........ok go be you.....

@@karenga11 if a doctor killed your mother out of negligence for example or if a drunk driver ran over her who had money and killed her. Duh. I know you’re young but don’t be so dumb.
