Today, we're going to take out every single one of our cars to talk about how much it costs monthly to own the Rolls-Royce Ghost, Range Rover, Aston Martin, Range Rover Sport, and BMW M4. Over the past few days, I have been thinking it would be interesting to open up on how much it costs to own these cars, since I know it was something I would have been interested in.

About this video: First things first, I wanted to add one note. I’m not sure how people like Tyler Hoover or Shmee or other car collectors/creators keep up on 20-40 cars. I feel like I already spend an absurd amount of time trying to keep track of which car needs service, which needs tags updated, emissions testing, etc. It’s insane to me how people keep up with quadruple this and more.
Either way, let’s start with one of the biggest monthly carrying costs - finance payments. This may actually be depressing for me to add up, but let’s go!
So of the 5 total cars, only 3 have loans on them - the dailies. There are reasons we do that, but without boring you, we just frankly don’t like financing toys. I also hate making car payments, so the smaller the payments, the happier I am. So the Rolls-Royce Ghost and the Aston Martin Vantage were purchased in cash, so their monthly payments are zero.
However, that means the M4 and both of the Range Rovers do have loans on them. The Range Rover L322 is $376/month. The Sport is $550 per month, and the M4 is $533 each month. So honestly, the total monthly finance payment isn’t too crazy. For the three cars, it comes out to $1460 each month.
Next up, there’s insurance. This is the one that eats at my soul every month because it’s the biggest combined expense. The finance payments are spread throughout the month, so they don’t feel like such a big hit all at once.
Insurance (especially on the Ghost) is expensive. Like, too expensive. But I would rather have good insurance on all of the cars than take a risk of something happening and one of them not being covered. So the total we pay for insurance on just the cars is just under $1100 a month. That’s the one that eats at me the most. The Ghost alone is about $300, so a third of the total cost is just this one car.
I feel like the Ghost is rather cheap to own on a monthly basis, but the insurance alone is a car payment on a normal used daily. So, that one makes you think a bit.
Next up, let’s talk about monthly maintenance costs. A used Range Rover is a rather fitting one to talk about this with.
So the Ghost is part of the Provenance Program, which means we paid $6k up front for two full years of warranty and service and transport to Rolls-Royce Atlanta. So I consider that to be more of up-front cost instead of averaging it out to include in monthly payments of it. But technically, that’s part of maintenance. It’s just not included in this figure.
The Range Rover Sport is also under warranty, so the only thing we need to worry about is regular service. That’ll be about $100/month on average over a full year. The M4 is also under warranty, so I’d estimate it’s another $75/month on average to service that over a year.
The L322, on the other hand, is far gone from a Land Rover warranty, so it can get pretty hefty at times. On average, over the 6 years I’ve had it, it’s come out to $160/month in service and repairs. I really don’t know why I hold onto that thing. Sentimental value, I guess. Good god.
Then, there’s the Aston. The V8 Vantage is actually a fantastic exotic sports car to own. Maintenance and repair costs are pretty cheap for a British sports car. Yearly service comes in around $1500, and repairs... well, we haven’t had to do any repairs in a year and a half. So $125/month.
So with that, we’re looking at an average of $460/month in maintenance and repairs...
Add in miscellaneous costs like fuel, and that’s another $300 or so every month. And add in the cost of registration and emissions each year adds an additional $35/month on average.
And at this point, we’re sitting at $3,815 every month full cost to own a used Rolls-Royce Ghost, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, BMW M4, and two used Range Rovers.

I had to sell my range rover short supercharged. It was painful but the dynamic suspension , bushings, and steering would have gotten me broke! I already dumped 5k into the transmission, and warranty covered 3k of that! I sold it at a loss for a trade in. They offered me 9k and it only had 93k miles.

Only in America can a young couple with white privilege own five cars and blow $3800 a month for nothing. And, they don't even drive them all every day. Just looking at the raw math, you put $3K in your retirement account each month and within 10 years you are a millionaire. You put 3K a month for cars and in ten years you are not a millionaire and you own cars that are ten years old and have very little resale value. It is complete stupidity. For him to act like its a big deal, he is in denial to see the awful decisions he is guilty for making. How embarrassing for him as a man.
