Lite Brite Hi! I enjoy watching your videos, they’re really entertaining, not having the skills or vehicle needed to accomplish what you have. I can still see what it’s like, any chance you can plug the hotel I work at? Doubletree Westminster, easy access to mountains and downtown Denver!
Honest question @LiteBrite what job or how do you guys fund this? Does you tube pay for all this, do you have a company, seasonal jobs? Honestly curious what funds this and all the travel and allows all the free time to travel? Whatever it is God bless America for making it possible. Could you explain if you have day jobs, or own a business, or RU-vid pays for the toys and upgrades?
Ok this is a total Jeep rule violation!!! Kevin is right on this one. When the money is in the bank, you buy upgrades. Never do you add it up because you don’t really wanna know.
I am really enjoying these older videos from when you started your build. Crazy, you started with 35's and now your running a Hemi. I cant wait to see how your new ECU works with the SRT and 40's. Keep on Truckin
No to 40’s! You two are already doing many obstacles many of us won’t or can’t do and one big reason I watch is to get ideas on places to go with my Jeep. Happy New Year and looking forward to watching ya in 2019!
good to hear the numbers so folks can get an idea about what goes into building a monster rock crawler. and honestly that's on the cheap, no install fee's included. one thing getting older provides you is perspective, this video also does. i've seen a lot of builds and us old guys chat around the fire. there are distinct lines in the sand that need to be drawn or you can put yourself into debt pretty quick. i like what you stated as important and as comfort and as learning curve. now we get to watch the addiction take hold, the rocks will never be big enough, the tires and axles will never be big enough, the lift will never be big enough, the engine wont be powerful enough. it happens to many, that's why it stands for just empty every pocket. so i say if you can afford it go for it, but be wary if you are just going to leverage out your credit cards. pick where you spend your money. decide the level of build you really need. there is a reason the majority of jeeps on the trail are of modest builds. and many who have built monster rigs go back. when i was a kid, 30's were huge tires, it will never end. i enjoy watching you two from the beginning, both very charismatic and it shows with your audience. i hope things continue to grow for you. just be wary, you wont always be young.
My total so far ... Near mint Jeep wj with locked up 4.0 = 1000 Suspension 6.5 in , Long arms front with triangulated 4 link back - high clearance tc skid/mounts fox shocks - misc =3000 Bumpers, front winch - rear tire carrier= 1500 Tires and wheels , 33in =1100 New driveshafts =800 New gears =650 New atk engine stroked to a 4.7 = about 5 grand with odds and ends. 62mm bore throttle body service = 50 Headers cats muffler pipes and gasket matching = 400 New injectors = 180 Rough estimate and I did most of the fab work so I could afford better shocks and gears. The body was also stripped underneath all rust spots removed and diy raptor liner sprayed. That was a additional 250. My point is , you don’t need big bucks for the off-road game. A old wj with a small budget boost lift (200 ) new bilstiens ( 300) and new 30’s on stock wheels ( 400 ) will get you down any logging road, overland trip and more. Cheers jeepers
ROFLMFAO! The look on Kevin's face when he oh-so-slyly slipped in the 40s upgrade...priceless! You guys are amazing, and always bring a smile to my face when I get on youtube and see you've got a new vid up!!! Hope your 2019 is everything you anticipate! Remember, keep the dirty-side facing the planet!
Deffenetly get the 40 tires it does make a big difference. We just got ours regeared I had 456 gears was thinking about 488 but decided to go with 513 .we in the break end period now so I let u know how they work out.but we have the Dana 60 axels front and rear lockers and a hemi engine in it.
This comment relates to your 2019 snow run. I couldn't find the comments for that post. After you do about 100 more years of snow, you'll find that the conditions of snow vary... sometimes during the day. Airing down only works when you have crusty snow. The crust may be below the surface, but not too deep. If your diffs are leaving trenches, airing down actually loses traction. Next, get a 30-foot snatch strap for doing the snatch recoveries. Using a tow strap like you were using has no stretch and produces no energy to "yank" the other vehicle. Love your videos.
I don't miss that part of Colorado....COLD...negative COLD.... This is the season for the reason...to live in Florida....lol... 78 today... Stay warm guys!!!
Loved the video when I saw it this morning. The mods on my JLUR , the motorbilt diff covers ( bought them before my jeep was delivered), the Barrett paracord grab handles ( in Orange),2 1/2 Mopar lift, 35" Toyo tires, Rough Country rear tire mount, LOD Rock Sliders, Warn VR8S winch and winch plate, and the Maximus-3 bumper hoop, and a Tazer. I am already making a list of more changes I want to make. The RCV axles and the lights that you demonstrated.
So awesome with all the info. Helps out everyone, thanks for taking the time to go over all that. Jelly is hard ring lots of fun. Looking forward to your next video. You 2 are awesome. Safe travels
I paid $4,100 for my XJ and have put about $5,000 into it. Its still a work in progress but it goes pretty much anywhere. I have done the work myself which has saved a lot of money. A few of my mods include, long arm lift, 33's, 4.10 gears, rear axle swap (ford 8.8), lockers, trusses, sliders, skids, bumpers, and chromoly shafts.
@@boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784 yeah, I have had a few minor repairs like the radiator, water pump, and CPS, but outside of that its been really reliable. It has never left me stranded, but at 22 years old, parts can break without notice. :)
@@boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784 I love mine! JL's are pretty sweet too. :) a guy at my gym works at a dealer and is driving an orange JLUR on 37's. It looks awesome!
Great video team to get us up to date with pricing. Basically $60K to get you anywhere and BACK. What I can't understand is why so many people give a thumbs down! I don't get it.
Brittany, Your JLU Rubicon Looks Good with all the upgrades you done to it and Congratulations for hitting 41,000 Subscribers. 😙😘💙💙 Keep Up the Great work!!!!
You guys are a gem! Love all the content, your passion and just all the positiity you spread. You've built one nice JLU so far...just the tipping point! Happy New Year🎆
Love the videos, I will say I was a little annoyed waiting for you to get to the point, but it was well worth the wait. I love the Metalcloak belly pan, and am looking to get one. I have a 18 JL Sport and went with 285/70R17s (Free, traded a 92 Honda CBR600F2 for them), wheels from Discount Tire, the best tire shop ever, added a Harbor Freight 9000K winch on a discontinued steel bumper I got of Amazon's scratch and dent area for super cheap, and a 2.5 RC lift. Catch can is also in the near future as well as lots of metal cloak stuff as I can afford it. Keep up the awesome vids, and love to Jelly!
Think the high gear lock was missed or I missed it..My first jeep was tires winch skids. But caught fire and burned..I didn't get a winch this time because my biggest issue was seeing at night In trails This time i bought skids, lights , tires ,lift, ... My wife takes care of the finances as well..lol..Happy New Year ,and love from Nova Scotia...
Tongue in cheek: Are all your mods straight swappable onto a Jeep Gladiator ($15k+ mods)? Will the Wrangler-range prices drop when the Gladiator goes to market? Is there a plan toward owning the 2019/20 JLU Rub Wrangler, or do you intend staying with your 2018 mk2.0 fer a bit? Is diesel gunna be the first ice engine to disappear, after peak oil, and are you fine with hybrid electric-diesel off-road? Is flat-pack solar panel re-charge a thing in the future, with hybrid electric/hydrocarbon engines? Optional: Do you think teh price of sushi in Japan is tied to the health of wild pelagic fish stocks available in the ocean? Will the price of rice, corn, wheat, oats, barley and potatoes change when the sun enters Grande Solar Minima and Earth's magnetic poles flip at the same time? When is Yellowstone gunna blow? Isn't electricity prices gunna skyrocket when oil and coal are gone?
Great video on costs. Everyone knows, to play ya gotta pay. And like the two of you, I have also done quite a bit of mods to my jlu Rubicon. Doing as much as you can yourself does save a bundle so you can get more goodies. Good luck in '19 and keep those awesome videos coming.
I have watched almost all your videos, but the Dog got me distracted in this one 😁. I have a 2018 unlimited Rubicon JL, and I have spent $13,000 already on it, and I haven’t changed the rims nor the tires yet. The best way to save money is to stop watching your videos LOL. The lady ( I don’t know her name ), and the gentleman Kevin you are great, and I love your videos. Beautiful wife, happy husband, great Wrangler are a good start to enjoy life. Thanks for the great video.
Need some advice, would you recommend getting the steel bumper group as a package on the rubicons or get the regular bumpers and replace with aftermarket?? I’m leaning towards just getting the regular bumpers and upgrading them at a little time. Think it will save a few bucks on that monthly payment lol
thanks guys.....its been fun watching the videos,...you both do a great job....and Brittany, you are an excellent commentator/host for the videos...and you guys have fun.......and of course the jeep is awesome.....looking forward to 2019...and in about 3-4 months ,i am trading my hummer h3 in (which was awesome, over 100,000 miles) and purchasing a Rubicon...not sure of color yet...i can't wait !!!.....also Brittany, what video film editor do you use, for your videos, great job with that also !!....Thanks for the fun stuff, look forward to the new videos....
So when are yall going to get east of Barnwell? Green Acres in Clayton OK is freakin awesome, serious, serious trails. Open 24/7/365. I would advise against going solo here. Burris Valley Ranch outside of Clayton, again, no joke. Probably more extreme than Green Acres. Limited open schedule so check before you go. Middle of nowhere literally. Green Acres and BVR said to be as close as you'll get to Johnson Valley east of TX. SMORR-Southern Missouri Offroad Ranch, Ava MO. One of the best managed parks hands down. Brandon (owner) is an awesome guy. Open most weekends but I bet if you let him know you were coming he'd let you come whenever and wheel with you/show you around. Hot Springs ORV park. Hot Springs AR. Another awesome park, open Th-Sun. Plenty to challenge any rig. Hawk Pride Mountain, Tuscumbia AL. Another awesome place to wheel, open most every weekend, owner named Mark, he's a urologist, super nice guy. Then there's Choccolocco Mountain in AL Adventure Offroad Park in Pittsburg TN For sheer massive size.....Coal Creek, otherwise known as Windrock, in Oliver Springs TN. 72,000 acres, 300+miles of trails and some amazing scenery especially in fall when the leaves are turning. Panther Rock easily the most stunning in the fall. Black Mountain Offroad, Harlan KY. 7000+ acres. Again, more than enough extreme tests for any rig.
Well, this video just ruined any shot I had at talking my wife into a JL. Brit, we know you're the money manager and Kevin is the eye candy! Great video as always. 👍
Happy new year Brities :-) a short request, what about a short list of the mods please, the reading and listning makes me drunk, specially when you have already a dark beer as i do at these moment :-)
Yeah, not sure you should actually add all that stuff up, but good to know info. I am really looking forward to seeing how those Milestar Patagonias last with so much pavement driving you say you'll be doing in 2019. I'm looking at maybe getting those for my daily driver JKUR in Fall this year. Thank you and keep up the good work.
Cool video, I guessed around $13.000, so I was a bit off. lol. Now I can't wait to see the video's of you three traveling and hitting new trails.. 2019 is going to be lit!! :)) Happy New Year!!
Me too. Been with these two since the beginning. My favourite Jeep channel without doubt. Makes Jeeping fun, not just a my Jeep is better than your Jeep forum.
Gig'em! I just lifted my 12 JKU and am looking at the Milestar tires based on your reviews of them. Curious how they hold up over time as most of my driving is on the highway to and from work.
Brit, you just need to give in and get the 40's...... I think we need to start a contest to pick the date when you finally surrender and get them because every subscriber knows it will be before 2020.... Looking forward to a great year of wheeling
and BTW IF i mean IF you would order your Rubi today, which setup would Kevin and you choose / add from the factory? 3.6 or 2.0 Engine? 8spd Auto or the manual? Roof and so on? Or even a MOAB? Which extras did your STEP CHILD has overall?? I like your vids watched a lot already and if tis possible just place a list with the factory options and adds and your upgrades as well, would be PERFECT. A nice and ROCKY 2019 from a fan from Germany who will go for a JLU these year and pick it up where it comes from in USA.
Actually $65K is on the low side for most Jeep owners. I see $80K + on most full mods. Rock Bouncers are about $50- $80K brand new with a big block. You may want to think about that route next time. You are doing some hardcore wheeling with this Jeep and a Rock Bouncer would take that abuse much better.
Man our Jeep dealership sux it seems every time they get a Jeep Rubicon they sale everyone for $58k plus, no where near 45k, which is why I kind of stop looking for a good a Rubicon to try and buy. But I’ll live my Jeep life through y’all. But hope y’all have a great year in 2019. And Y’all need to do a meet up in each state that you visit this coming year with maybe some rough dates.
When u bought your new jeep didn't it come with a warranty, and with all your accessories to your jeep. ( lift, bigger tire, ect..) does that effect your warranty on the jeep in any way.. I actually paid a extra 2 grand for my jeep wrangler sport unlimited , so now i have a 7 year warranty.. I wanted to get the Rubicon , but my daughter is graduating HS this year & this was her graduation gift. I paid cash for both our jeeps.. So the cost started to hurt a bit in my pocket.. & the Rubicon was a 12 grand more.. I hope i didnt make a big mistake buying myself the JWSU.. Hope it will do as well as the Rubicon once i put my ( lift, tires, ect..) Intrested in your opion & suggestions... In the future
Awesome Jeep built this last year one thing about Jeep it stands for just empty every pocket I know my Grand Cherokee is killing me but mine turned out to be a one-year only 93 built date on it is February of 93 so it's been turned the back over to carbureted Ford duraspark ignition sitting on a 6in lift plus Parts Jeep because this one was in a wreck had a war against a deer. And we're built in this thing off of low and budget we figure and trade and parts and labor so far and our labor is us doing it I built custom off roads got three grand tied in his Jeep already in less than a year this year starting out already eating money if everything goes right we'll be on the trails this year looking forward to seeing you guys out there Curiosity what part of Colorado are you guys at I have about 2,000 relations and the Denver area
Ha, your list is pretty damn close to my wish list. Tbh I'm looking at getting Milestars too. I was leaning between them or Nittos but after seeing what all you've been able to do with the Milestars I've been leaning that direction. One thing I'd like to know is how well they do in the OH, KY, TN mud down some of these hollars.
Great information. Just curious, as you increased tire size, did you also change your axle gear ratios? If so, what ratio did you go with? Or, are you running the stock 4:10 axle gear ratio?
You guys got 38s and wheels for cheaper than I got 35s and wheels for my JL...and I thought I got dang good deal on mine! Kevin what's on your revised list for Rubicons now; if you had to pick one Lift Kit or Skids?
Hey is it possible to get a written list of your upgrades I'm selling a house in March and taking $60k out of it to buy a 2019 and do similar mods it would be great if you could post the list on your website and keep updating it when things change.
And how do we pay for all this and travel? You guys have investments? Family money? I do enjoy how you guys started on a simple 170 dollar lift and now you guys are running metal cloak lift/ suspension. Good job with the finance report
Hey Kevin and Brit, if you are privileged to say, we'd love to hear what happened to your first JL so we can be aware of what to watch for. Thank you! Joe
Did they say what caused it? I was thinking possible front locker engagement due to bad machining of locker plate along with aeration of the hot gear oil?
How did u get the metalcloak 3.5 in lift for only 1500 bucks. I want to purchase that one but with ARB shocks and website has it for 2450.00 I can't I get that deal u got?
Hey Kevin, thanks for the reply, I’m the chef at that property so I can get you food discounts there for sure, otherwise Hilton friends and family rates at other properties based on availability
Got a question for you we are finally about to get the JL in Aus and I like the look of them. On thing that has kept me from buyin a JK was the pedal positioning. There is a really big difference in height between the brake and rhe accellerator pedals. Uncomfortably so. Have they fixed this in the JL or is the pedal heights a US thing?
@@LiteBrite haha, hope I have not ruined it for you! There always is a difference but the JK was huge. Im 6 foot 3 and I found the accellerator pedal brak combo quite uncomfortable compared to any other car I have driven (I am a motor mechanic so I have driven a few!). If you didnt notice then I assume they must have fixed it. Next time you are out with a JK, have a look. Thanks for the reply.
Probably just in massive debt, for their sake I hope not. It's taken me 4 years to get my Jeep where I want it but nothing was put on a credit all paid in cash. It's nice to have no bills and I can spend more time enjoying what I've built.
Love the video.. When i seen the price i about shit lol keep them coming.. By the way completely off topic but you guys had a 3rd guest.. At 15.32 there was a freakin orb that came out from the ceiling and went to the right.. Come down from Kevin's left side.. I was like wtf.... Lol anyway's keep the videos comin... Not sure what part of Colorado you guys live in but my gf and i are planning a trip to pikes peak in march so if you guys are close by around then and got some free time it would be fantastic! To meet you guys... Be safe out there👍👍😁😁👍👍
@@boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784 thats awsome... Ive never been there but my dad was a long time ago. He drove his motorcycle out there. He said when he went it was a gravel or dirt road to get up to pikes peak. I think they paved it sence then.. I will keep you guys posted when we make the trip. We are only 9hrs and 20min from there.. Should be a easy trip... Hope to meet you..
@@boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784 hey there kev. Just got the motel booked and stuff and we are heading to Colorado springs on march 7th😁😁. Also had no idea that there are some offroad trails that i might be able to handle so i think i will drive my truck out there to hit the trails with.. Hope to hit some trails with ya..👍👍😁😁👍👍
Great recap on the Jeep mods. Love your videos. I’m curious as to how you shoot your videos. I’ve seen enough shadows and reflections to know you are using your phone with an external mic. Do you mind sharing which mic you use? And which editing software you use? Thx.
Lite Brite Awesome. Just got the same setup. Thx for sharing. Starting my own channel, but don’t worry, no competition with you. Emergency Prep related.
I was curious about how much all the mods costed...cost? 🤔 Anyways.. thanks for sharing your videos. It sure has been a busy year! I wish you all the best and prosperous new year 🎉 Happy trails 🚙💨
