Absolutely love the word play in this scene. All the actors involved were brilliant but the way Danny Kaye mixes it all up is genius. An amazing artist.
I gotta say, I have not had a big belly laugh like that in years! Danny Kay was such an intellectual comedian! Made me laugh as a child. So talented. He could dance, sing, act and his comedic timing was amazing. 🤣👍🔥❤️
A wonderful British comedy paid homage to this. It warmed my heart when seeing it as I connected to this scene straight away. Modern comedy greats paying tribute to a classic comedy great. ❤️
Danny Kay was having a drink in the bar at Dublin Airport, waiting for a connecting flight. The barman trying to be friendly said: ”How do you like Ireland Mr. Kay?" Danny's answer: “Ireland is the arse hole of Europe,” to which the barman replied: "Ah I see, sir, in that case I suppose you're only passing through.”
When Danny Kaye and Griswold are standing there facing each other while both muttering the tongue twister, and Danny Kaye with his magnetized armor, which coincidentally saves his life. (Sorry, spoiler!) It's hilarious!
One of my favorite parts in this movie when his suit is magnetic & it sticks to metal & when he's swinging. Pellet with the poison is a tongue twister.
Lily Emma Lindsay imagine the rehearsals, the sleepless nights, the daily fights, dreams of Trumpless days, Pence-less nights: joy to the world, all ye boys and girls, joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea, joy to you and we. Here our brave Scots brehren chime in, lochem up
Saw this in theatre class twice. By my teachers third year cause when I first went in sophomore it was their first. They got so tired of playing it a zillion times for five classes 😂😂😂
This movie still cracks me up with laughter, that is 😮😊! I'd love for RU-vid to please post this classic,The Inspector General, and Hans Christian Anderson for free downloading. Please consider this.
Best scene in the movie! Danny was a master at comedy, as well as a song and dance man! Loved this scene as a kid, still do. I always thought that was Elsa Lanchester, but it's Glynis Johns, best known from Mary Poppins (Suffragette Mom). 98 as of this post 8/13/2022
I wonder exactly how many takes it took to get this scene down? In all my years of stage acting I could not imagine a harder script to remember! And how did they get the armor to move toward each other?
So how did the poison magically leave the vessel with the pestle after the chalice from the palace broke to enter the flagon with a dragon? Writing flaw?
The guy's just carrying them both around on a tray. He probably dropped them both, spilling both and breaking one. So the pestle vessel would have needed refilling. (And for all we know they filmed this and deleted the scene.)
Just a great scene, non-stop laughs, start to finish. Better than when I saw it as a kid. The wonderful Danny Kaye. Here he sings the Inchworm song from Hans Christian Anderson: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fXi3bjKowJU.html
