I only crash people is if 1.they crash me, or 2. Everyone is crowded around the mirror and I listen and hear them talking about dumb shit, like one time i joined a world and there was these people around the mirror, it wasn’t a deep convo or anything and that would usually annoy me, but when I saw the way they interacted, and one of them wanted a joker skin, I literally found a world and got it for them, so I don’t do it all the time, just to the really annoying couples that sit infront of the mirrors
Hello, Unity editor user for 7 years here If you would like to largely avoid the crashers, u can do so by not hiding the avatar, but hide the "particle system" for non-friends what they commonly use are actually very easy to make sadly since the SDK doesnt limit that part of avatar element I wont go on detail on how to make them, but its their particle subemitter and layered collission, thats why they avoid swinging it around in order to not hit their own capsule collider.
Our story: My best vrchat buddy god a new skin he cloned from someone, he had no idea what all the toggles do, but one of them just instantly crashed everyone in the loby, everithing got bright and we all crashed.. we were all friends tho so when we came back we discussed what happened and figured out he accidentally got a crasher avatar.. Checking on his avatars specs it had an absuuuurd amound of particles and stuff witch is a major red flag for us now! He never used that avatar again..
2:05 I was playing VRChat and a guy Joined my game, and said “Hey Glitch you wanna see a bad Glitch?” (My Name has the Word Glitch in it) I wasn’t using my Mic so I just Shook my Head rapidly and Raised my Hands to indicate I mean no harm, I saw his Skin change for 2 Seconds and the Crash was so bad, I couldn’t turn my Headset off, I just waited till it died
I mostly have crashers because a lot of them look cool but other then that I don’t use them unless someone is being toxic other then that knowing how other people play the game is pretty funny
Today was my first day in a public world and some one tryed to crash me but I just lagged a LOT like 1 fps and yeah it happened 3 times so I guess the quest is a strong VR head set.
Tbh it seems like it'd be funny, like how on discord sometimes people will ban each other as a joke, then unban instantly. Obviously this doesn't apply to assholes that join random worlds and crash random people, but for example if two people started fighting and one of them just pulls out a gun, says "parry this you filthy casual" and crashes them, I would probably be laughing pretty hard.
I was hanging out with this one girl in VRC having a good ol time just mucking about and this guy comes in and is like "yo dude get out this my bitch" while pointing a gun at me, and I didn't know about this at the time and I pointed and laughed at him to being instantly sent to the SteamVR hang time screen

I've learned the hard way about the black cat ;-;. One lobby i joined and i was basically being harassed and people kept telling me to kill me self and to pull the trigger. Yeah not fun or its filled with screaming children ;-;
So i have 3 stories, 2 of them are funny and 1 of them is sad! Second and third story explains why i make my own crasher avi and whats the reason of it First: I was making s femboy ugandan knuckle and so i thought it would be funny if i used my already too heavy femboy avi and put on a very optimized ugandan knuckle face and replace it with my femboy head and make an alt avi out of it, i tried it out, it somehow crashed me, i tried to open vrc again, it crashed me again, so i called a friend in discord and asked them if they knows what did i fuck up , they know about crasher avis alot and so i switched toca defaults vrc avi and onvoted the friend, i switched to the ugandan knuckle that i tried making and it crashed both of us, he said to me "you just accidentally made a world crasher, out of everything i experienced, i never been crashed before and ive been keepin myself safe from crashers people, your *"talkin about me"* the first person who crashed me hami, and out of any other avis, u got me usong augandan knuckle xD" we both had a laugh and after a while, i reverted the avi to the original femboy of mine and i made another femboy that is now my blue ugandan knuckle femboy with pink clothings xD Second story: I was having a talk with 1 of my friend and i was pn a desktop mode, they were teachin me about crashers and how to make my very own , a simple ball with shaders on it, surprisingly the shader that he gave to me , it doesnt show on the avatar details so if u see someone with heavy shaders ut in their avi details it has no issue in it, dont trust that at all, shader crashers can hide their crasher numbers on the shaders, as well as particles too , so anyway i was havin that talk, i forgot to put a toggle on it so it was default on, i opened and entered my world, infront of me on the home world i was on , a mirror thats on by default, as soon as avi loaded , i crashed myself xD , it was funny and we of course had a laugh about it, btw the reason why i wanted to learn abput crashers is to make my very own avi, is cuz i want to use it to self protection, cuz sadly even if i have the person hidden, they still somehow crash me, which is annoying, hence why i get a little anxious with pub worlds nowadays, i cant go on it without usin my avi, my avi is not obnoxious and has lots of shaders and wordings on it like other crashers, mine for of a hidden crasher, basiaclly an avi that looks good and normal and not obvious, with a crasher that i can toggle on and off on it. Third story is quite sad one: So someone i knew from 2020 who sent ne friend request , and who was interacting with me and havin fun time gettin to know me and all, i accepted their friend request and i thought we had connections between eachother, bros before hoes kind of connections, apparently he wanted to join me as i was in a friends + world with a friend that was afk, i was waiting for that friend, the friend A who was afk was still afk, friend B who requested off me finally joined, he wasnt talking but i was still friendly, giving headpats and compliments, andxthen a girl avi person with ibvioys shaders that screams "im a crasher" joined and when i saw her approaching to friend B, i thought that they might be friend, minutes later see them lookin at each other as of they are talking , so i thought to myself "they may be on a call o:" so i approached both of them and gave both of them headpats and compliments, what madescne a little worried is the fact that none of them were reacting at all, dead reaction, so i was asking if everyone is ok and being concerned, seconds after that the friend B turned into a crasher avi and crashed me and 1 the afk Friend A , and he blocked me after that, wanna know where i met friend B? Though a streamer friend by the name of HeyimCal , im not friend of them anymore, Friend B i blocked cuz i despite their fucked up backstabbing action, and streamer friend for just ghosting me and never thinks of me as a friend anymore, apparently most of my streamer friends were too famous for my blood that im not worthy to walk with them 2019 streamers *amirightboys?*, so i just unfriended and blocked those people and took a year off vrchat, cuz that shit scars you for life.. Welp theres my story, and the moral of it is:- Dont truat someone cuz,they just smiled at you, they may be hiding behind a fake smile mask, no matter how good they look, how big they are, how "nice" they are to you, everyone is 100% guilty until proven innocent , crashers or not , both are guilty until they proven innocent, even crashers some of them are actually quite a wonderful people
a great way to check is by checking the particle and mesh count in the avatar stats. if any number is ridiculously high then its a crasher. great video btw. very underrated
That is helpful, but sadly people have been using modified SDKs, the source development kit provided by vrchat to allow you to upload to their servers, and the modified SDK hides large numbers that normally point out the fact that they crash, that and some crasher avatars can get away with crashing with as little as a single particle emitter, they use methods to crash that arent always adding as much of one thing to the game as possible.
False, I got ridiculously high numbers in all the stats of my custom avatars, they only have dances and a shit ton of shaders. You can make a crasher with low amounts of meshes and particles lol.
I absolutely despise those miserable human beings, because thanks to them people tend to slap safety settings on shaders/particles, and one of the greatest things to do in vrc is to entertain people with avatars based on stencils and shiet. You want to show folks around some magic, and they are all like UhHHh wHy aRE yOU HolDInG A huGe UntExturEd oBJeCt
in my experience the negative feelings originate from the spikes in young children that get quests around holidays, and then all quest users get profiled into the annoying energetic young child type. Its a real shame tbh
I am around the toxic community not all quest users get hit only the annoying ones referred to as questies get hit because generally they're annoying squeakers or they're harassing folks...at least that's the kind of quest users my buddies clap and before anyone asks no they do not go out of their way to find and crash folks they just chill until someone starts annoying full lobby
About a week ago, my friends and I were all in a public Black Cat. All of us got crashed. I managed to get back into the lobby that the crasher was in, and the reactions of the crasher and her friends were priceless. She was so upset that I was able to join again, and then tried making excuses that it was just an accident, and that she didn't mean to crash anyone, yet she stayed in that avi and continued to crash anyone who joined the lobby.
a true crash makes you not come back xd that dudes using public crashers for annoying random people are assholes, In my case I use mine for this people, and trust me, they don't come back after a gpu melt, True dangerous crashers are mostly private and used in self defense as mine, I used to have one called "Wanted" It was an avatar made of 7 fused avatars and it looked amazing, the crash was a progresive cpu flood script and a gpu melt custom shader, I remember fucking up a child's pc that was annoying my friend with a particle crash, and I loved how is graphics card blowed up and him screaming like retarded that his screen went black with white lines. But sadly I stored that avatar and it's project on a very safe place and deleted them from my vrchat account, and also from ripper store so no one can harm people on vrchat.

I've actually spoken with quite a few crashers, even have one of them as a friend. A majority of crashers fire mass amounts of particles at you that you literally can't render them which causes you to crash, however there are actually more ways to crash. I was in the black cat one day and this guy comes up to me drops an item then asked me to pick it up, me not thinking anything was a problem proceeded to pick it up. My game froze instantly, leaving me unable to do anything. There are crashers that target specific platforms, I've literally been in a Murder 4 lobby with a player who crashed all the pc players even though they were a quest player. The way that one works is that they make a normal avatar, and for the platform they want to crash they completely mess it up - I don't exactly know what they do, but they change some stuff that shouldn't happen causing it to corrupt. My opinion on crashers is that they're annoying and really shouldn't be in vrchat, but people for some reason find it fun to mess up other people's time.

On my first day of VR Chat, someone walked up to me and started changing into a horrible array of avatars, each one tanking my FPS and blazing with distorted sound effects. When he stopped, I was confused why he was angry that 'I was still there' and then he left me alone on the now empty server. I found out later what that encounter was... Not sure how my 6 year old laptop managed to survive that.
1:56 someone tried to crash me for having an anamorphic avatar on, that sucked the only way i could tell is that they said “sorry guys i have to kill the furry” and then my game began to lag intensely, but i didnt crash and managed to turn off their avatar the major hypocrisy is that they had a catboy avatar

I remember my friend had a avatar stolen from her that was made into a crasher. It was her uni avatar (basicaly the unused hat in time character timmy but based on the program unity) and someone decided to take it, and make it have alot of shaders. Im still mad at whoever that crasher is for stealing a avatar in the first place...now she cant go into public worlds as uni cause people would run from her cause they think shes the crasher

One of my favorite stories of encountering a crasher was these 3 kids. Now I am a Furry, I don't hide it, it's not shameful I don't really 'come out' as one because it's just a hobby but the stigma persists even though I don't get how pea brains find it so offensive.... never the less... I was facing off against these 3 dudes who were harassing me telling me to kill myself, slit my wrists, how my father never loved me (he didn't but that's a different story lmao). One of them swapped into an avatar that pinged one of my own personal detector criteria: "He said, hold on I got this (N-word)". So I blocked his avi, but kept his voice on to see what he was going to do. He proceeded to have his friend clone his avi to try and crash me, I let it load enough to favorite it then blocked his, and while the the third was cloning the avatar to try it I blocked his then proceeded to swap to it staring the three of them down and one by one targeted them with their own avatar crashing the whole lot. I then unfavorited the avi cause i'd be tempted to use it if I had access to it and I moved on with my day. Tip to crashers.... don't try and avatar share infront of your victim.... it doesn't work too well especially if they are smart. I frankly don't think the avatar they had was even enough to crash me... it looked like some kind of quest crasher to me.

I once encountered the so called „Quest 2 Crasher”. He pulled out an avatar and bam. I MADE A FRICKIN WHOLE REVIEW OF HOW BAD THE QUEST 2 PORT IS, but then i saw this video. I understand now. It’s not the Quest Port that’s bad, it’s just a crasher. Thanks for sharing this knowledge :)
I have been crashed maybe 2-3 times on Quest, avatars are all disabled by default unless they're a friend. The crash itself wasn't a laser or sword, and I don't recall speaking with a crasher, the only one I saw was mute . I had to restart my game, and everything went back to normal.
Nice vod, just gonna add a few things here for the community. I used to be apart of the vrc community, I was part of many things, groups, gangs etc. Crashers are done through alot of means, especially for desktop, generally people use particle crashers which are one of the most common crashers, that is easy to remediate just by limiting particles, next would be shader crashers, these generally hits harder, like a truck some times. These are also ones that people use for mass world crashing, since they generally are pretty accessible and effective. Then we have exotic crashers which uses specific glitches, these can be like with dynamic bones, which is really hard to prevent, without needing to mod the game. Quest crashers generally, so far from what i have seen, cant target users like pc crashers, but they usually are done through (if i remember correctly) Dynamic bone crashers with somehow the bones fucking with one another. I dont fuck with the community anymore, so generally ill just lay this all out and doubt ill get targeted, but generally, you will find the high trust ranking users with some crazy exotic looking crashers which are usually shader based, and the public crashers 90% of the time would use particles. Its also most of the avatar creators that have the most crashers being that their more experienced, but general rule of thumb in vrchat, just show the minimum on peoples avatars and voice on in public worlds. And just dont fuck with large gangs of people, like the ones at the mirrors, their the most dangerous. Still crashers today are nothing like in the past, like around 2016-18 which we had some crazy ones which can end up BSOD peoples computers, Thank god that has been lost to the test of time.

There are users out there who are basically counter crashers, like if someone is confirmed a crasher they’d be put on a notice board in like a discord channel for players to go through, or people can straight up ask these counter crashers to go after user XYZ until they just straight up give up entirely and leave the world or the game as a whole. Basically they’re kinda like the Crasher cops
When I was on quest I thought the thing often causing my game to crash was just too many people and too much lag in a public world. What I didn't realize is how many horrible people actively target quest users. Since I've gotten PCVR, I haven't gone a single huge world session without seeing all of the quest users crash before my eyes, all at once. It's even more frustrating than crashing yourself. Instead of blaming it on the game all you can do is sigh and frustration and watch as the person you were having a meaningful conversation with gets infinity snapped out of existance. I've been lucky enough to not have been crashed on PC yet, but it saddens me how many PC players do it to innocent quest users.
The problem with quest crashing is that the most common ones aren’t able to target a specific individual. It just targets the entire lobby via an exploit to my knowledge. It takes one person to find a quest toddler annoying enough for them to crash every quest user in the lobby

When Avatars 2.0 was released I went through a portal that was in the official home world and put on an anime girl avatar, which put a video overlay on everyone's screen of a man ejaculating and defecating. It's not a crash but it's a type of griefing. I can't believe that sort of content would be linked to by the official VRChat home.
Man I remember the first time I met a crasher, this was years ago so I don't exactly remember if this was before or after ranks appeared in VRChat, I was also a desktop user at this time. I loaded into The Box instances as at that time most people stayed in The Box, The Pug, and the presentation world where you can draw. I was minding my own business in the box and hopping in convos for fun, at one point this random voice spoke to me (the dude was invisible so I didn't even know he was talking to me nor right next to me) and he was calling out to me, I didn't know he was talking to me and starting saying things like "I'm talking to you bitch" and what not and it kinda shocked me for someone to be so rude to me for no reason, I replied saying "Excuse me? That's kinda rude of you to call me that." and he kept going on and on about how he was right to call me a bitch and what not and I kept arguing back because he was calling other people a bitch for no reason, eventually he got annoyed of me and decided to crash me, I know most crashers use lasers of some sorts but this dude used some sort of pill shaped object that he covered my avatar's face with, my pc was pushing through to make it out alive and not crash so I was able to catch a glimpse of the pill shaped object. Thankfully I never saw a crasher again after that but I still keep my guard up just in case. If anyone else has experienced being crashed with a pill shaped object I would like to know your story because I've never heard anyone encounter this kind of crashing method and I wanna know if this is just another common crash method or not, plus this could let other know of other methods being used to crash players.
We accatly Had a crasher a few Weeks ago on the German Servers. He was playing realy loud Musik and Said some realy Rude Things. I have never used an Crasher avi in my entire live. But If i would guess why they use it then cause of the Reson that it gives them a Feeling of Power. Psychologigly they are basicly some attebtionseeking Childs (eaven If they are 20). I meet one Person wich Had a crasher but never used it before. He Had It that He could Crash other crashers. Crasher Avatars should be banned in VRChat. They Rune the experience. And the people how Crashes for fun should be banned.
Man, alright this happened recently.I’m a quest user, and I was in diluc’s tavern the other day. I was just hanging out some people. I decided to walk away for a second because I wanted to switch my avatar while trying to avoid lagging any quest users since switching avatars tends to lag out other quest users for a second. while I was switching, my screen started shaking, then it bought me to the three dot screen. So I was like “Ok, well someone probably crashed me, oh well.” But then my oculus, just blacked screened. It couldn’t detect anything with my controllers at all. It would go into a constant pattern of black screen, blinding white screen (there wasn’t like any text or anything) then to the Boundry set up screen, but no pop up would appear at all and it didn’t pick up my hand movements or my controllers. This caused me to need to hard restart my device since it just wouldn’t work at all. I genuinely thought my headset was done for and that I needed to buy a new one. But it works now and I’m trying to not just show everyone’s avatars.
Imagine being such a sad excuse for a person that you crash people because of their choice of headset, or lack there of. Also I love how crashers keep getting salty vrchat implementing ways to prevent them from crashing the game for people,such as the vrchat camera keeping the mirror crashers from causing crashes. Oh yeah a new way for quest crashers was for a time using mirrors to hit the quest users.
i remember i was in the black cat one time, minding my own business, then i heard a very loud robotic screeching noise, and then my game's fps dropped to about 7 frames per minute. somehow, through determination, and sheer f***ing will, i managed to turn on safe mode and escape without crashing. still not sure how they do it like that but that's lowkey interesting ngl
I've been crashed before. By people who have such powerful avatars that even if you turn off their avatar it can still crash you. My whole pc has been kinda restarted by crashers. And yes I have myself crashed people before. People that are annoying and that are being mean to my friends and people I talk to. Other than that. I dont crash people just for the fun of it. The crasher that I have for pc can crash me as well. But it worth it if I crash someone that is harassing my friends or the people I talk to. One time I was with my friend playing around and trolling with people just for the fun of it. Then there was a guy using a client with a crasher. The crasher that I have now is the crasher that the dude used to crash me. It didnt really crash my friend. It just brought him down from like 142 frames to like 20 frames. But it crashed me. Cuz I dont have that good of a graphics card. So what I would say is. For pc players watch out for avatars that have a idle that kind of swings its arms around and the music in the background when they join. Thanks you for reading my whole paragraph text lol.
If your being crashed by people who's avatars are blocked it's not a powerful avatar that's doing it but a modified client that allows them to do that.
This is a really good video, thankfully i dont get crashed that much and i have default safety sets. Also it might be because i only play once every 3 months.
So I was just chilling in a vrchat hub and then saw grey cylinders in the air for a short second so I blocked everyone avatars later turned them back on, then my quest 1 became unresponsive it wasn’t until 3 minutes later did my headset function again
Pretty neat video, I like your editing. Keep up the work man. Been part of VRC for a while and there surely isn't a reliable method of getting away from crashers besides private lobbies only. But even those can be exploited if a person has the right tools so, VRChat safety is just really bad.
I was crashed recently but I am really happy that I managed to get him and all of his friends on video. Long story short him and his friends lost their accounts. Now I have everyone's avatars hidden so I can't be crashed anymore. I have the video up of catching them in the act.
I was just vibin in a random lobby when some guy came up to me and said "stay away from my daughter" then crashed me, i never seen him or his daughter before.
My friend and I went to the Black Cat once and it was full of Quest users (we were desktop). And then all of a sudden, everybody froze except us. I didn’t know it was a crash at the time, I just thought we used THE WORLD or something. And then like some movie, a quest user hobbles towards us and was like “YOu DiD thIS DidN’T YOu!?” before he too succumbed to the crash. Super surreal.
That's really odd tbh most crashers from my experience are quest users. And avatars arnt the only way to crash people. Clients are unstoppable unless you yourself have a client to not make you crash.
Bro I’m on quest 2 and crashers are so annoying. They make it so wherever you look you’re always looking in the same place, and the audio will repeat over and over. Even when I try to turn off the headset, half the time it just won’t turn off. So I have to wait like an hour for the headset to restart, just for some idiot 8 year old to crash me because “I looked sus” (Yes that’s happened to me before)
You all have seemed to forget about the magical and fun *clients*. It has something called event 7, event 10, and instance lagger, aka, game go bye bye lmao.

So fairly recently I play vr chat for the first time and after like a half hour out of nowhere the game crashes, I scream in agony and somehow my passthrough is now far more pixelated. All I had to do was restart my quest but its still kinda wacky.
I would personally pretend to be friendly with a crasher and give them a friend request just so I could repeatedly crash them and make them believe it wasn't me. A taste of their own medicine.
1:07 This literally happened to me a few times although one time it actually happened directly and I saw it. This guy pulls out a laser gun fires it, but the moment the laser touches me. It instantly freezes me and crashes my game so I have to restart vrc entirely
I met a crasher when he joined the lobby it crashed me and they friend me because I didn't disappear fast and I joined back and that said sorry because they forgot they have a quest crasher (had to restart the hole thing) and now they help with other crashers and make sure I don't get crash he's nice
I have a good few crashers but don't really use them unless there's an extremely cringe edating couple using lovenses in the open. Ain't nobody tryna see or hear that shit.
