Yeah, I see a lot of little boys trapped in the body of a grown man. People who never grew out of their fortnite/league troll mindset. It's sad to see, but as a great man put it; "Picture how dumb your average person is and then realize half of the rest are even dumber than that." Best way to deal with them is to not give them the satisfaction of a reaction. Mute, block, goodbye.
I mean, I find it more common that 14 and 16 yr old bois go around screaming racial slurs a lot more than men over the age of 35, so I don't think so. Maturity =/= age is the first step to weird pedophile acceptance.
@@jasonfinch3631 That's a rare occurrence but it does happen. I want to say that they have a bright future ahead of them, but having been one of those kids it's hard to not be ground down by other people and become bitter and jaded. To those, I wish them the best.
The amount of times I get ganged up on simply for being British is depressing, I don’t use VR chat often because most of the time it makes me feel more lonely.
i dont get too much toxicity in vrchat towards me but in other games i do and it really dampens your mood, if you go around being a prick to others for no reason please re-evaluate yourself. you may think people can just forget and move on but for some its not that easy and can permanently stick with them
For someone being toxic to me in game, I just have fun with it and watch them explode. So if it's in a game chat, I just respond,"?." If its in voice, I just respond with, "Hm?"
I remember when I played vrchat and I was with a little kid in McDonald’s and we drove through the drive through because some person was playing some nsfw anime sounds😑
whats the world you were interviewing BearBuns on? Sorry if this doesn't really fit the theme of the video and tbh I love ur content cause I'm only a user so I'm not a completely new player but its still nice to know about all this kinda stuff about toxicity, deaf and hard of hearing, the quest players (i am one lmao) ect its really cool!! i love ur videos keep it up!!
I wonder if a possible solution to the 18+ idea could be to have certain worlds be 18+ possibly? Obviously it can be so that you can make it friends/invite only or just for yourself, but in more public worlds that might help
So I got VR chat on my Quest 2 a couple weeks ago. And I was in a Fnaf 2 POV instance when this guy came up to me and asked if I was really 18 (it was in my bio). I told him yes and he told me to prove it. I asked how the hell was I gonna prove it and he said “Well are you in college or are you living with your parents?” I told him I wasn’t going to college and so he immediately was like “Yeah lol you aren’t 18 you’re like 14.” So apparently he assumed every 18 year old just automatically moved out. But then he was talking to his friend and he was saying how he was in his 20s and he just moved back in with his mom. So I called him a hypocrite. And then he started shouting the N word at me 20 times.
as a young player in vrchat I usually get a ignored a lot , once I pretended to have a neko voice and they went to the portal screaming "run its a child" is being a younger a problem?
Everytime i say im a girl (what is true) i get sexual harrassed so i change into a boy avatar and dont say anything about my gender i feel safe saying it here because nothing bad can happen i could remember one time i just said i was actually a girl and people just started to im just gonna say slap me on a not so good place lol i didnt play VRchat for a long time after that...
This group of guys kept coming around and harassing people and harassed me in Sovren's Chill Home. It was like 5 grown men and 1 child, and they all crowded around me and started saying that I was a "trap" and I was using a voice changer(I was not). One guy stood up for me, but was silenced by the assholes. A few people came to me after and asked me if I was ok while the assholes went around telling everyone I was a "trap". Eventually one guy dropped a portal and they all left, most likely off to cause chaos somewhere else.
PLEASE GOD MAKE IT 18+ leave the kids at the other vr games or make it you have to confirm age account on certain worlds or make it reportable so it forces them to verify age via a ID pic to VRChat or something to make a barrier.
Inclusiveity could also mean to be inclusive to toxic purple. For toxic purple are real purple also. And if you have a thing against being mean to others, don't be mean yourself and block toxic purple for just being themselves. K?
One time i was hanging with some friends in b club, and a random guy in a cat avi walked up to us and heard my voice (I have a very fruity voice if you know what I mean) and just started going on a rant on how me being gay is immoral and that god doesn't love me. idk what he thought preaching the bible and other stuff to me was gonna do tbh. Like Im not gonna get preached at by some two foot cat and suddenly be like "oh my god he is right, being gay is bad time to be straight". Looking back on it is kinda funny now.
I like vrchat and I appreciate the joking to an extent but honestly it’d be nice if other kids my age would just behave a bit, have respect and not give the community and especially my age range in it a bad rep
I just don't understand people on vr that just say racial slurs. There's literally no purpose. They don't find humor in it because they did not even try to make a joke. It's just like a reflex for some people.
@@Theovates oh 100%. Literally 85% of gorilla tag are toxic little kids, and then 10% of it is toxic people who think they are better then everyone, then 5% of chill people who just wanna play a game💀
in my experience, most toxicity comes from... 1. Underage users 2. edgy teen boys being homophobes/racists (often also 1) 3. non-quest elitists 4. E-daters 5. Easily butthurt people looking for drama to substitute IRL interaction or to feed their own solipsism ("it's all about MEEE" usually have a bio with a 100,000 word bio) 6. Both the butthurt people and the edgy teens reeing at eachother and then making all the normal users' days that much worse.
i dont play vrchat but i also get told to kill myself just for existing in tf2 im thinking of playing vrchat sometime can you tell me which server is good?
@@bunger108 if you want to play vrchat it really depends on what time you play it at. Anytime before 9pm there are typically a lot of kids which gets annoying especially when some will walk up to you and ask if you want to see something cool then pull out a cock(I usually tell them "I can't see what you are doing" and they will walk away most of the time). But for good servers it depends on what you want to do if you want to meet people to talk with Japan shrine on Europe servers is a good spot, another good one is no time two talk, it puts you in a room and every two minutes a new person gets put in for you to talk to. But if you want to chill there are plenty of worlds to relax at with friends you just gotta find what you like, and I would avoid black cat unless you want to mess with and be messed with ALOT, plus if you are on quest alot of people join with crasher avatars so that can get annoying. Just remember the best thing about vrchat is exploring all the worlds and finding new people. And good luck with the hellhole that is online VR games
I think I was 14 when a group of middle age guys started ganging up on me because I defended ANOTHER little kid they were insulting because he was singing. They called me a wh*re and a mistake and being a 14 year old it got to me. When I would try to go to a different place in the world they would follow me and tell me I couldn't leave. Luckily a group started clapping back at them but they wouldn't back down. In the end we blocked and reported them but it hurt when they called me those things all because I told them to leave the other kid alone.
In my experience I think the most standout experience with toxicity in Vrchat was in the Black Cat, I was literally just walking around an then this kid just starts speaking extremely fast and insults my character for having a mole on it, I wasn't even being an ass. I was just existing and I start getting insulted for no god damn reason.
did you fight back at least or did he sl*ughter you verbally like an animal please tell me you attempted to engage in battle for what little remained of your eviscerated pride and not just sit there and take it like a dishrag
Ive met a lot of adults and kids in vrc (I'm 15) most of the people are actually really kind no matter the age, but i have found a lot more toxic adults (20-40) than kids(in this case 9-13), the kids are annoying a portion of the time but there kids what can you really do, the racial slurs is a no go though cause the parents should do better in that case, and there are the chill kids who just vibe out and don't bother anyone, some actually being more mature than some adults, on the other hand, the adults are actually toxic, ofc not all but a portion, insulting people for no reason for there race, gender, if there a mute or not, what there doing, they will harass you about anything just cause they think they can, I've seen multiple grown men and women bully a kid(probably like 10) when he hadn't done anything bad, no slurs no nothing, he was just being a kid trying to have fun, they were telling him to get off the game that no one loved him and to go die, vile stuff to be saying to a kid, both age groups have there problems, like any social games of this scale do, but grownups, the fact they can be toxic and even argue with a child instead of just blocking them like an adult should to not give a kid doing something like that the attention, but instead actually harassing them which can affect a child's mind especially that young being told to die by the people there supposed to look up to as kids do, its disgusting but a reality we unfortunately have to live with
I can agree with this statement. I was in a flight simulatior on vrc and this dude had in his bio that he was 27 years old (Pretty much an adult) and as you know in flying worlds he decided to try and shoot me down as im changing my music. So i countered and shot him down i respawned and hear him yell out alot of crap to me simply cause i used flares but i still worried about him cause his behavior was unusual. (For awhile i thought he was drunk. It was that unusual.) But after trying to calm him down and apologize he did eventually block me simply because. (My voice was annoying i sound like a little kid?) But it was the most confusing moment i had with a grown adult on vrc.
I don't understand why adults dont simply block the child annoying them or leave the world. I don't like kids, but insulting them and being a dick to them is just wrong and childish.
The best thing to do against adult toxicity is ignore it cuz they only want attantion/look cool to their friends. If they see no one cares theyl just stop. I do it al the time and it realy works
Shes right it should be 18+. This experience comes from going up as a kid myself, its NOT the NSFW+ which was the issue, it IS talking to other people in internet chatrooms which is the issue (for me it was chatandgo) as you encounter people that aren't in your age range (that of a kid). This being said the game should NOT be censored at all, but made for adults in mind, rather then a younger audience. However if this game continues to want to appeal to kids rather then adults then there should be community guidelines, censorship, and much more enforcement that needs to be added.
@@brian6391 I would necessarily say have child and adult lobbies exclusively, because that gates 18-year-olds off from their 17-year-old friends, for example. 18+ rated lobbies and regular ones tho for sure.
@@eve_______ This generation of kids are going to be the weirdest and most useless adults because they’ve been deprived the most basic developmental exercises in life like real world socializing.
Best way to deal with all of the toxicity is to block it on sight. Remember, with the nuisance rank if someone is blocked or muted enough times it takes a toll on that individual's standing. Can it be used maliciously? Maybe. But overall blocking people who are being awful makes things a lot better. Just don't interact with those types, don't say anything back or do anything. Just block and move on, continue having fun.
Often times I threaten the trolls with intense and obscene physical harm and that seems to do the trick! (I have a big stick that I found in my back yard that I sharpened recently, it's pretty fucked up but I've been forced to use it before in self defense situations :/ )
The range of toxicity I get for being a furry ranges between "fuck you, you're a furry, I'm going to block you. You're a disgrace" to someone constantly circling and chasing me telling me to kill myself, and that happened one time while I was exploring Vket, which I decided to do and I public instance because I was alone and figured seeing other people roaming around we kind of fun and add to the atmosphere. The toxicity is primarily why I just hang out in at least friends Plus or higher.
@@brojoe44 I mean, I already have a friend groups that I hang out with so I don't need to go to a public instance anyway. Plus, I also don't want my avatar to be ripped and uploaded to the ripper store
@@chrisfratz Yeah no when it comes to ripper store im pretty sure it doesnt matter where you are in VRChat, i think you just have to be online and using your own avatar and it gets logged.
i dont like furry things but u can have nice conversations even with them so that kind ppl need to have a really shitty life and they are just looking someone to vent like a bully i hope in the future vrchat make safer places
My first dislike on this video. Simply because it's easy to interview people that mostly get harassed/targeted while ignoring the things that make them an easy target to such problematic people. If you choose to write ur pronouns with all the life affecting mental disabilities you have into your public profile bio, people like you will see it and respect it, but everyone else will either look weird at you, won't care or choose to target you for whatever reason, one of them probably being for fun. Victims in such situations tend to get angry or offended very fast once they get insulted on one of the things they wrote about in their bio. Ur a woman? Get a sexual joke that is based on ur gender. Ur lgbtq? Get a comment that attacks ur gender, which already might hurt you enough bc of you simply putting ur gender on a more meaningful scale than others (this goes especially to people with such flags in bio or name). Ur a furry? Let's compare you to all the furries that later came out as sexual predators etc. Ur black? N- Ur white? Cracker/Gringo/Nazi/Racist Ur asian? Ching-chong. The list goes on with a lot of stuff. However. At some point, you have to grow up and learn that the internet is like real life sometimes. You can have your own kind of safe space and act the way you want with people you like around you, but if you openly make yourself an easy target to others without be willing to change yourself, you kind of deserve at some point the backlash you get. Compare it to bullying. It's bad and unfair to anyone that tries his best to adapt to society and still gets targeted. However, it also serves as a kind of mechanism that punishes selfish narcistic people etc. that otherwise would never learn where to stop. Like people that never got told no as a kid and now demand that everyone serves for them. In real life, if you unjustified get bullied and words have no affects, you can either allow yourself to get bullied or work yourself to a point (for example with workout) where you can defend yourself alone or get enough help to survive, or alternatively leave the place. On the internet, you can do this visually and with how you sound via voice. Whatever, never make yourself an easy target Online. Sure, you can say that in our world everyone should be welcomed and treaten good no matter what without consequences. Yet what this leads to are people in power that don't deserve it, like a toxic narcassistic person in class or a boss that trash talks everyone down (not to forget problematic groups like sexual predators). In such situations where normal arguing and discussions have become senseless, bullying or toxic responses tend to turn to the only kind of "natural" way to counter such problems from the mass/group when cooperation is not possible anymore. So, it's easy to call bullying bad. However, please always ask yourself what might be the reason that get''s you bullied. If you have pronouns on ur bio, take them out and go with an avatar that fits the best to what you actually are. Pronouns are liked by trolls bc it easily allows them to spot where people can attack/annoy you easily. If you have specific mental disabilities, take them out too. Anyone that cares will get to know about them as soon as they talk longer with you than 10 Minutes, to which point you already filtered out the trolls. Same goes for lgbtq with rainbow flag.
Hoooo boy, I remember just chilling in the library of Diluc's Tavern with some friends and this group of trolls in tiny avatars come in and start bugging us. I don't remember what they were saying but my friends blocked them and I just ignored them completely. Every time they tried to say something to me, I didn't respond or even look at them, I just kept talking to my friends. So they were like "I think he has us muted." Then one of them was like "Oh, he seems nice..." They just kinda went into their own corner and vibed. I guess they got bored since they couldn't get a reaction out of me.
See this is why I stay mute most of the time now, and or go to places and just vibe by myself. Toxicity is just, everywhere. But it's still such a fun game to hang out in!
Same here, I stay mute and just vibe unless I can tell someone just want to have a fun chat or get to know me or if I hear an interesting conversation then I would try to join in.
Something that VRChat needs is a world moderation feature. Adding people to a moderation team for your own world so that they can kick people from it for being toxic etc. The owner of said world can even ban said person from your own world. This is a way to deal with toxic people although it's still just a suggestion.
Thats a risk that must be taken, do keep in mind that the world owner has control of those moderators. And toxicity, well there are always toxic people in the world.
Great video Twice !! I remember I was on Karaoke Central , just singing for fun and then , there was a guy saying to me " Can u stop singing ? You're really bad ." and I was ignoring , then he begin to say some bad words , but there was other people defending me and after that , the guy left the world . Again , great video Twice and I really enjoy watching your videos !!!
I have a racist experience while I was playing among us in VRC. There are 3 European who come to me and said... Peep 1: HAHAHA you sound like a fricking Asian Peep 2: Right, her English is freaking sucks. Peep 3: Hey, don't be so harsh on her Then i immediately left the server. Is it wrong for me to not have English as my first language... -_- the audacity tho... -_- This is not my first time tho... Similar experience but input Chinese and said some Chinese words i barely understand. -_-...do they think China, Japan and Korea are the only asian countries...? Duh~
Duude as a non native english speaker my biggest insecurity is people making fun of my accent, but am glad folk were supportive of me. am so sorry it happened to you it must've sucked :(.
@@iiReTr0Z Omg TvT... you too? Those human(s) are very mean TvT. That's why I tend to be an introvert and shut my mouth up. You must also be frustrated when you are in the middle of a conversation that you are interested to talk about but the trauma and insecurities pull out their red flags. -_-
Yesterday I talked with this girl and boy and my convo was a little awkward, in the end they just couldnt hold their laughter of my presence and started laughing at me. That felt immensely bad, and still feels really bad tbh. I'm from Finland and socialization is kinda hard for me, although I like it and want to try even though it might not be that fluent too often. But yeah, that interaction yesterday left me with a feeling of getting bullied for the first time in VRchat. Good video, this is a topic that needs a lot of discussion, especially regarding this game. All of the best. :)
I had a general expectation of what I’d get on VRChat because it’s anonymous online users, like in any chat lobby. Just gotta have or develop thick skin. So when I come into contact with a toxic person, I generally don’t care or mess with them. If they become annoying, I mute and hide their avatar rather than block. Once I convinced a guy that I had blocked him by completely ceasing to acknowledge his existence. He was like, “Wait, did she block me?” And his friend came up and asked if I could see him. I looked around the room, as if I couldn’t. He was like, “Dude, she totally blocked you!” Even tho they both could see me, which should have tipped them off. 😂
@@ThatSilverDude i’d rather be able to see a mute bot holding the knife or gun in a game. Blocking only helps in non-game worlds. And it’s effectively the same thing anyway. 🤷♀️
@@Jestloo it's not the same. If you block and report then that persons rank can become nuisance. just muting them or hiding the avatar enables the behavior. Actually block and report them. It helps everyone.
@@ThatSilverDude nah. No one I’ve met has been so particularly egregious to warrant something like that. Anyone can have their moments of being dumb or annoying. I’ve seen too many people abuse the block button too. I don’t care. I solve my problem just fine. 🤷♀️
Twice: I don't understand why they're throwing hands at each other. Also Twice: Has made 2 fighting videos *Great vid by the way! Love all the Mario music*
I first tried vrchat literally 4 days ago and I'm just getting into it. From my experience the best way to describe it is that it is all of the best AND worst aspects of the internet rolled into one thingl. If you can't deal with criticism from people who will say things for literally no reason then you probably aren't ready.
VRChat is sometimes like real life. Ok ok ok let me just get something off my chest. As someone who has spent a lot of money just for vrchat and has played for more than 2,000 hours AND as someone who is 17, I can say that ALL the major toxicity I've seen comes from adults. And its not surprising that most of them act the way they do. Another thing, sure, kids get the game and scream racial slurs but... their kids, kids who get this game probably have played a rated M game before soooo idk why people care about child protection now. Its usually the adults with the issues, just projection and abuse that they go through in their life after a long day at work. Its sad when I walk into a black cat and I hear "your 17 eww minor" when im probably more mature than them, its sad, I hope some of the adults in the game can get the help they need. People really need to just stop blaming the kids for everything, its the parents who let them play the game in the first place.
Iv had the opposite I have been harassed for being female or harassed saying I have a voice changer because of my voice. A lot of them are teens trying to impress their girlfriend acting cool usually they are with a female or a friend. Thankfully there's a block button, but if your shy in the game it can be a really bad target. I don't mind someone saying something silly, it's cussing at me yelling in the mic saying I am sleeping around or arguing with me harassing. Degrading words toward me as a girl :/. Lots of men who are sour about females. I'm still looking for over 18 friends to hang out with so I don't have to go in public chats '_'....
@@ribbons8678 Again, that’s another issue MEN have in general not just kids. I’m really sorry to hear that though and the reason I sympathize with the kids is because me and lots of others used to do the same as a kid and then look back and say “why did I do that”. I hope you have a better time in vrchat though.😊
I might be a year late but whew.. I started playing in VRC not too long ago, quite intriguing.. I went to my usual room which is quite small, it had it's up and downs but there's this one incident. This guy come up to me, give me some looks so I thought like they're taking a good look at my avatar or something... and once his mic is on, whew.. full of insults, threats and then just leave.. I have never been so confused in my entire life that I just shrug it off.
you maybe have a wrong take at how you look at interacting on vrc, like you said in the intro "i look at vrc like other games i want to start it up and have a good time". theres no problem with wanting to have a good time but vrc is more of a social platform than a game, and you are discrediting all the people who wont immediately fulfill your want to have a good time. these are humans you are dealing with with complex personalities not npc's to dish out entertainment for you
Nice to see a video about this, definitely had a moment or two and it’s really uncomfortable. Also the kid thing I 100% agree with, don’t want to take it away from them but also there’s a lot of things they shouldn’t see. Awesome video
I encounter people like this very often… I rlly don’t care bc I don’t ever take words personally but I mean just muting people is enough or I usually just go to a different instance
BLOCK PEOPLE. Had a friend get into an argument with a group of people and he kinda lost it. Just press a button and boom they're gone. If someone wants to bug you block em. VRC ultimately should not have kids on it. It has fun vr games but it's first and foremost a social game. A social game with a platform of mostly mature people who probably shouldn't be socializing with kids. A band-aid solution would be an under 18 or kid report button. After enough reports they get a kid tag that people can choose to automatically block in settings.
If you insult or abuse people abusing anonimonity, pretty much means you'd do that in real life as well if there was no punishment, and that says a lot about you as a person. People saying "I'm like that only in the internet" are living a lie.
" im only like that in the internet " I hate when they say that. What? Are you role-playing an asshole online? 😒 wtf. Probably the same people that say " take a joke " but can't dish it out. Oki
there was this one kid who was bullying the heck outta me but all i could do was laugh. he had a fat club penguin avatar and had the worst mic quality EVER.
This experience happened a while ago: I was in a black cat server and me and this guy were just hanging out and then a group of people come up to us and their like “Kill your self” and “Do you have a rope cause you should hang your self” and It really hurt me deep down but I was trying to stand my ground and trying to end the argument but that didn’t work so I just went to my friends world and we were chilling, VrChat has to be one of the most toxic games I’ve ever joined.
im aro/ace and at some point when just hanging out with my brother in VRC some guy came up and told me how i was gonna die alone and that its not a real sexual identity. i kept my cool and he got SO PISSED i wasnt arguing with him or getting mad at him being mean lmao he really wanted a reaction out of me
10:28 I agree with them. I feel like (also I’m 12 so yes I’m a kid) I feel like it’s not who should be taken out, just the people that make vrchat unsafe. It’s the community, not the game. Just my opinion :)
Lets hope that some form of voice filters become advanced enough that the general public would play vrchat, because the community really is a dealbreaker for me playing it right now.
this is just transnational. it happens in any game for example their is always a system like T-bagging, fingering, tunt music, toxic systems and other variety of it, legit like i got 12 massages in a farming simulator because i was better then the guy and they found an emote that has a finger tip like a D**** like see their is always toxity it can be *created* *their is always a way you get toxic shit lords in any game i played oncs vr i just loaded in and i got called the hard N word and i got crashed by a cloud chaser (chased me threw games) like you see its not just in vr its everywhere and honestly the only way to deal with it *Is just to ignore the person their opnion on u dont matter so why should u care like for a bit of equivalent its just the way of it really their just mostly underage. and really i know what happens in vr but this has to be 18+ and their should be admins to banned underage ppl.
i would vr chat is more calm than rec room as if you load in rec room you will probably here a 10 year old shout the n-word of someone willl shout something homophobic with vr chat 9/10 you will meet some nice people
for me it's always those gangster dog avatars, i'm not kidding when i see one of those things walk in i ready my block button cus they always say some edgy annoying bullshit
I have to say the "toxic" in VRChat compared to other social platforms I've played and life experience is. .Don't hate me for this, but very childish. Like I've only been on VRChat about 2 weeks but I am totally open about who and what I am. So I have had people run up shouting what ever prejudice hate at me for it and it's so silly it comes off like them yelling "poo poo stinky head" at me. Even as far as to pull me to the side thinking they are gonna really hurt me with their words. But again it's so insanely childish they might as well be hitting me with "doo doo caca head". So the bad is very easy to handle and deal with, being one of the things I have been loving about this game. Hell I even got one guy that started throwing trans slurs at me and a few others to end up joining our conversation for awhile. Just by being calm and ya know, socializing with him. It was freaking great.
For those that actually do take all that stuff to heart on vrc it’s a sign they spend wayyy too much time and honestly they should probably take a break
