something i’ve realized recently with these guys is that kings of leon’s albums really have a knack for being able to take you right to the same place you were when you first heard them.

Kings of Leon, so underrated - but also, I want to keep it that way. I feel like my journey with their music has been somewhat personal, from YAYMH to CWPHF - what a ride! My favorite band ever.

Youre right. Im a huge fan but I have to agree with you. Their greatest album was Only by the Night and after that they started to return to their roots. This new album was made all by themselves without any producer and thats why they sound different. I saw an interview with Caleb where he says that

I have seen them 3 times and are so emotional and great and talented. I also like to remember they at one point they all had huge alcohol problems , especially Caleb. AND NOW they are all on a better track, mature and play more music that has been relevant to their current stages in life rather than drugs and drinking all the time.

It's kind of funny how people think a band, that's been around 20+ years, should be still writing and playing like their first album or two. Yeah, grown men in their 40s, who are married and have kids, playing 'teen angst' music makes a ton of sense.
